- Exactly!
- Never seen lawler before, and to be honest, it was just "okay". (not being able to dance up there because it was so packed didn't help either. When a really good track was on, you couldn't do anything about it because you had an 8" radius to dance on. But on a side note it was actually pretty cool chilling on the roof, such a nice day. (maybe thats what skybar is all about, i just wans't ready to quit dancing)
- Ended up at some forest "rave" in Cherry Beach, it was actually pretty good, about 40 people, good tunes and they were handing out strawberries, which i thought was random, but none the less welcomed. After about 2 hours, got broken up by cops, apparently someone who was taking a morning jog seen a bunch of people dancing at 9am, listening to "that music" and he called the cops because we were "up to no good".

- Gallery once again, amazing, even Addy this time.
- Sasha I hope your willing to share Sydney Blu
PS. Peter (DJ Sketchbag) thanks for the after party, most crazy, hilarious, randomness afterparty i've ever experienced. and Tony: You are the definition of "hardcore".

As Cale put it, "Fun as Fuck".

nice video man but too bad you've spent a lot of time filming girls up at the skybar, would of been better to see the people and more lawler interaction with the crowd and stuff
My friend called one of the girls a Shakira wannabe since she was doing her moves, i dont know why were those girls there in the first place because it was a just a useless distraction from the music and lawler. They didnt look classy at all, felt like they were picked up at a local top40 club and brought in to dance the the rest of the morning.

you said things pretty good man

awesome seeing you out again ang, friggin miss you tons. we were dancing our asses off in the gallery! I had alot of fun

My friends cusin comes up to me with two of her friends. I havent seen this girl in like 4 years or something! then her friend is like "dan?" apparently knows me, and one of my friends. I tryed to think back to where I first met her, and she tryed to fill me in too haha. It was just crazy though. Never thought i'd see my friends cusin at guvernment, just because of the music she was into before and stuff. It was cool though. she seemed just ABIT intoxicated lol.

For some reason I attempted to do a C-Walk in the orange room lounge area to some rap song that was on lol.

skybar is pretty cool, but I wish I went up earlyier. Not used to coming outside in the sun to party, after being in a darkend club for 8 hours, then everyone seeing you look like total hell from sweating your ass off all night and being just dirty lol. I just wanted to take a shower so bad, THEN go outside with everyone lol. skybar was wicked for the 15minutes I was up there before it ended though.

Glad I finally got to hear Nathan Barato spin. He was fantastic, twice.

The Review

Lawler is my hero so I went into this expecting the moon and then some.

We got there around midnightish and guestlist went smooth - 10 minute wait tops. Nathan Barrato gave me chills upon entering - nice warming up set. It felt like he wanted to just bang it out and bring it up another level but he showed excellent restraint in warming up the Lawler. When they opened the stage behind the booth, I booked my booty up there and got a spot on the rail right behind the DJ.

I will say this for the first time ever - if I see one more fackin' pair of glowsticks being used ninja style (aka without skill, talent, or any higher purpose) in which flailing into my face is involved, I am seriously going to put my rugby moves into practice. Grrrr....but then Lawler went on and I forgot my point.

The timing in the beginning to be in synch with the nitris cooling system (they added like 2-3 more vents further back into the Guv) was sick along with the confetti burst and excellent laser show. I got some of the most incredible videos looking out over the crowd as Lawler did his little shimmy in the booth and spun. He opened it well but then lost me after the first few tracks. After an hour of holding my position, I gave up and immediatly lost my crew. Wandered into the Gallery and was like "hot damn! sounds almost like techno!" and stayed in there for a bit (I think this was around 3:00am???).

Went up to Skybar around 4am - saw a loverly stairwell fight (one of many fights I saw that night - full moon much?) but other than that - no problems. Barrato was great upstairs again as well - his track selection to me was better than Lawler's overall. Skybar was a treat but not quite the luxurious feast that was last year's. The people up there weren't quite right and the tunes just weren't as choice either. I think that Sasha and Lawler feeding off each other was a better pep up for the music and the crowd than a tuckered Lawler on his own. The cold didn't bug me too much - dancing helped out with it as well as our little corner pile of women and a Keith in the corner.

Overall, this Lawlerience was ranked #4 behind Skybar 05, System 05, and Gallery 05. He is spinning in Detroit Thursday night at Bleu and I might attend simply to get to stand behind him and see what he brings to his first ever Detroit show.

To the TOTAs - a pleasure as always. It's a rare find to see so many smiling faces in a city 4 hours away from home and you continuously make me feel a native even if I do have a cruddy Canadian accent.

I will post pics and vids tonight when I get home - have at least 10 videos and 120+ pics from what I recall.

Wandered into the Gallery and was like "hot damn! sounds almost like techno!" and stayed in there for a bit (I think this was around 3:00am???). The Guv was rammed but nowhere near as bad as Halloween or LoL's packedness. The level of fackered uppered too high folk was huge though - I was playing "pick and place Asians" everytime I went from Guv to patio. It made the place seem more claustrophobic than it really was.

Went up to Skybar around 4am - saw a loverly stairwell fight (one of many fights I saw that night - full moon much?) but other than that - no problems. There was plenty of room except in front of the DJ booth where it seemed imperative to get within touching distance of the DJ with no hope of touching him. Barrato was great upstairs again as well - his track selection to me was better than Lawler's overall. Skybar was a treat but not quite the luxurious feast that was last year's. at skybar at 6am (picture by chinamon)

wow what a night. the first 2hrs of lawler's set inside the guvernment was good. set was a bit experimentive. i was so hot that i just casually danced along.

but the 2nd lawler set at the skybar was unreal. maybe it was the sun rising or the fresh air but he definitely notched up the funk for his second set.

great so see some TAs: michelle, chinamon, laura, lisa, trancegrovves, vertigo... i was looking for but unable to meet monkeee and sasha (oh well next time)

a great night.

TIS is supposed to be obviously TIL
G2 at the GUV, after the first year (3yrs back) they stopped calling it Global Gathering and renamed it as G2 b/c of stealing the name from the real thing and it is on June 30th so there

you could always move away from the crowd into your own space and dance! you don't need more than 8" radius to move your body and shake some glutes.

Lawler being just "okay"? well everyone has their own music tastes and club experiences. i can respect that. i thought it was more than "just" okay, great vibe, good weather, beautiful sunrise, some fresh air to breathe (as oppose to being inside the guv) and more importantly some wiked people dancing to the sounds of Lawler

Nada girl!!! Nice videos, I love hearing you scream ha ha... but, you know which one I want...

Even tho I had to leave early, I had a great night. It was absolutely ridiculously packed, but to tell you the truth, the people made the night so special.

Finding the corner to dance it was pretty hard to do, but the weather was cooperative and everything else was great.

I think my favourite moment of the night was when I hear "Bitch, please!" yelled at me from across the skybar...

So happy I came out and can't wait to see everyone again...

Pictures are being uploaded...

I arrived at The Drink at about 12.30am. I am so glad I made the decision to go through The Drink, or else I probably would have left very shortly after I came up. I went downstairs to say hi to all the TAs. Between a guy using a conga line of 2 ghetto looking girls as a battering ram to get through the crowd, and another guy getting an inch from my face screaming "I AM SO FUCKED UP RIGHT NOW", I decided that it was time to take refuge from the usual Guvernment main room shit show.

Before the D'Luxe Lounge opened, I spent the majority of my night on the platform outside of The Drink exit. It was the only place in the whole club where I could seek at least a little bit of refuge. The D'Luxe Lounge didn't open until about 3am or so. This is the one thing I HATE about Spin Saturdays. I really wish they had the D'Luxe Lounge open all night.

A few of the positive aspects of the night in the Guvernment: the music. All I have to say iS "WOW!" I didn't even really like Barato before Saturday night, but he played an absolutely stellar opening set.

Lawler's set was really, really good too. When I was in the D'Luxe Lounge and actually able to enjoy it, I don't think I stopped dancing even once. Awesome builds, crazy and relentless beats for the entire 2 hours of his set. He certainly made up for his mediocre set on Halloween. One thing I have realized though is that Lawler's sound is not a big room sound. The vibe of Lawler parties in the Guv doesn't hold a candle to the vibe of his parties in smaller venues like System. I really have no desire to see Lawler in the Guv again.

The Skybar:

Once again, Nathan Barato played a really great opening set for Lawler. As Lawler came on, people started pouring in. Then more people started pouring in. Then more people, then more people. Eventually, it got to a point where it was so packed, that unless I was sitting down, I was constantly moving around to get out of other people's way. It was like this for a good hour and a half at least. I can't even tell you how Lawler's set was on the Skybar, because it was so packed that I couldn't even pay attention to the music. I am very unimpressed by the lack of organization by security/management for the Skybar set. The bouncers weren't counting the amount of people that went up or left the Skybar. That place was WAY over capacity and was a huge fire hazard. There was absolutely no room anywhere for most of the morning. The Skybar set wasn't anything close to last year. It may have been if it wasn't so packed and you could actually enjoy yourself.

For the last 30 mins of the set, when I could sometimes find some room to dance, I really enjoyed myself. The vibe of the crowd, especially right in front of the booth was just off the hook.

In summary:

- Lawler rocks, just not in a big room.
- The Guvernment crowd gets worse every time I go.
- The Skybar was a huge let down.
- It is going to take me quite a lot to ever go to a Spin Saturday ever again.

Had a little bit of a hard time getting ready to go to this party, but I finally got myself together and was on my way. Nada and Ali thank you so much for picking me up. Not sure if I would have made it otherwise. Got into Guv around 2:30, not really a line up which was nice. Not impressed with the searchers they had working. There was no pat down and they only looked in my cigarette pack, nothing else. Coat check was a breeze, which was nice; walking into the main though was frightening. It was packed, wall-to-wall people and so hot. Not that I didnt expect it, but holy shit. Walking through that place was impossible. We decided to hit up the gallery first, which I thought was the best idea... We lost Lars and Jo the minute we walked in there, could not see them anywhere. The tunes were awesome, but the people were messed. So off to the patio it was

Thank god for the little corner we found out there. Perfect for Nada to bust out the moves. I on the other hand I could only stand there, in awe as to how many people were in this place. I was really enjoying the tunes that Steve was playing though. Tried to start dancing, but every time I would someone else would come and invade my space. I finally get a text form Lars telling me that there was room in the DLuxe Lounge to dance and that I should make my way up there. After about 20 minutes I finally got enough courage to do it. And I am happy I did, there was so much room in there. I find everyone and just started dancing, figured the only was to get over the frustration was to dance it off.

I was up there for not even a half hour when Steve announces to the whole club that he will be playing on the Skybar, and everyone should join him there. So of course there was a mad dash to get up there. I had to go down to the Guv coat check to grab my jacket, which turned out to be the biggest mistake I could have made. Getting back up stairs was near impossible. Totally lost RJ and Justin in the madness and I was stuck in front of this total ass who was rubbing up against me. Now this wasnt just rubbing this was like grinding. Tried pushing him off but he wouldnt budge, turned around and told to step back, but he would move. Can anyone please tell me what people are thinking when they do this, like do you really think I am enjoying you on my ass? I was so angry when I finally made up to the Drink. There was thankfully no line to get up to the Skybar

Steve finally came on around 6. Heard many of the same tracks that he played in the main room. Which wasnt a total let down, cause they were amazing. Pete Heller Simpler has now become one of my favorite tracks. I was not happy at how packed it was. There was no room for dancing and I was being pushed around like a rag doll. Biggest pet peeve of the night people constantly waking around, I saw the same guy walk past me like 50 times in the 3 hours I was up there. Like come on now, find a spot and stay there.

Wasnt sure how long Steve was going to play for, but to be honest, was not upset that it ended just before 8:30. I want to thank Lars and Jamie for the extra layers they handed off to me when they got hot. I was frozen all night/morning. I was wearing two sweaters and two jackets at one point. So in all the night was a little frustrating, but I really enjoyed the tunes.
