Disc 1 is quite OK but Disc 2 seems to be very dissapointing IMO. Overally, this compialtion is too trancy for me.. Where da hell is Markus from Coldharbour Sessions 2004!?

+1

I liked GDJB much better back then. I'm not saying it's bad today, i like it, i like Ibiza 06, but i liked the 2003-sounds better. Schulz has taken the original GDJB-sound and gone more and more towards ordinary melodic trance, so the style is still unique, but less unique then it was.

I've listened to the first cd of Ibiza 06, i think it was great. Some really good tunes, some of them we've been hearin lately on GDJB. It's impressive hearing how so many tracks from different artists are mixed together to a single sound with the same mood over the whole cd. If you like one of the tunes it is more or less inevitable that you like all of them, some are better than other of course.

i had to go back 2 pages to realise that these were artists that you like! glad to hear it cause i love alot of these guys.

this CD is horrible imo, not really a single decent song.

a couple that come to mind are also
Tonedepth
G-Pal
Jaytech
Central Rush
Bedrock
Charlie May

im also tempted to add Extrawelt, though not pure prog really.

Shouldn't boredom lead to threads?

Anyways, this entire compilation is too trancey for me. I'd much prefer the darker, pounding, melancholy beats and melodies. Thick basslines, and an all around forlorn feel, that's what I was looking for. I guess I shouldn't have expected that from the tracklist, ah well. The mixing is respectable, but it's just not my thing. I'm sure die hard Markus fans will be creaming themselves over it.

6.5/10

Has the release date been finalized?

Had a listen to the promo this morning and was utterly unimpressed, though the compilation wasn't bad either. As Demoted already said, it's a bit more trancey than I'd expect from Markus, however I think that's probably more suited to an "Ibiza" album than the dark and brooding prog, though who's to say.

In the end, I don't think this is an awful album by any means, it's just average, and compounded with the fact that it isn't really the style of EDM that I enjoy anymore, I was just left feeling like I wanted more. At the end of the day, I guess even though I knew it wasn't going to mesh with me stylistically, I was hoping Markus' programming and track selection would somehow pull me in. It didn't.

5/10

Personally I enjoyed the CD.

Sure it isn't the old "Coldharbour" style, but that's not to say the tracks on there are terrible. Lots of stand out tracks for me and overall I like it, I guess it meets one part of my taste in EDM.

Agree. I like different sorts of edm, so i didn't really expect this to be THE BEST EDM EVER IMO or anything like that. The markus schulz-style is one of the styles i like and within the boundaries of that style Ibiza 06 is very good, how it compares to other music is more a matter of taste.

alex monakhov - feel lonely <- that is THE choon atm, loved it on gdjb and now it's great to have it in clean sound quality.

I just downloaded the last GDJB-episodes in order to burn them on CD. For the background of the covers I took the "Ibiza '06"-image which I found at www.markusschulz.nu. Now, I'm still looking for a font (for tracklistings) that's similar to the one in that image. Is there any chance to get such a font?
