These hints are confusing but I tried anyway with 12 possible answers.
Oooo, I like the hint for the track that I submitted.

Psy-T lands 2 uniques following the first hint session. Paulandrews then submits a ballot, landing 2 uniques of his own and eliminating one of Psy-T's. Psy-T gets revenge a few hours later when his update removes one of PA's uniques. Unfortunately for gauss, he got caught in the crossfire and loses a unique to Psy-T.
Any problems with the hints, please ask

Echo of Silence makes a statement by jumping into third place, only because Camwin used a flurry of hint answers to double (+!) his score and get to 53 points. Unfortunately for he and the field, isoterra is also adept at research and takes a commanding 32 point lead.

More hints coming within the next 24 hours....may stagger them a bit over the last week.

14 Farewell the neighing steed and the shrill trump/The spirit-stirring drum, the ear-piercing fife/The royal banner, and all quality,

18 No UFOs sightings recently.
28 Amazingly, the original mix made its way off that infernally slow Vandit label in 2004

55 A talentless guitar player who relies on a gimicky headpiece and simple chord playing over looped drum machine patterns as his way to sell albums.
Im not doing anymore hints on the guest IDs, though I will accept hint submissions from each submitter
any more takers on this?
Scores, scores, we want scores!
Scores. About 9 hours left so if youve been interpreting hints, this would be an excellent time to solve them. Sorry for the crappy contest...

FINAL SCORES
Congrats to Isoterra for a hell of a win! This contest was harder than I initially anticipated.
edit: please post the results when you can Tribu.
Wasn't even shit mate!!
Think it was weird cause it went from one extreme to another. (Goundline's contest to Yours)
I really enjoyed this contest and looking forward to the answers.
Congrats to Isoterra too
Thanks to everyone who played. I didn't try to make a hard contest, but rather one were there was a core group of trance songs surrounded by as many genres as possible. I tried to make my non-trance genre's vary as in easy-medium-and hard. I would not recommend doing this for a future contest. Nor would I recommend teams. The Guest ID's were a little harder than Id hoped, but it wasn't a total sham.
Answers:
01 The Beatles - Revolution 9
I thought more of you would know this one as soon as you heard the phrase, "number nine" around the 4 second mark. I tossed around a few songs as a replacement, and chose this, from the white album.
http://www.discogs.com/release/372930
02 Mona Lisa Overdrive - Born to Synthesize (Neo & Farina Remix) euphoria unique
Maybe not the most popular song, but Platypus couldn't press enough of these in late 2002. A top notch remix from a duo who often underachieves.
http://www.discogs.com/release/96727
03 The Streets - The Irony of it All
No one had a problem getting this one. From the immensely popular album, Original Pirate Material
http://www.discogs.com/release/45155
04 The Digital Blonde - Gothika
It was the summer of ASOT and Armin was dropping everything from any artist that had ever had commercial success. On some playlists (and a guest or two's) was this song, from the Blonde Witch EP. As with many digital blonde songs, the sample is the best way to distinguish which one it is.
http://www.discogs.com/release/140465
05 -Ziq - Hasty Boom Alert unidentified
This second track from -Ziq's album Lunatic Harness, one of Planet Mu's strongest offerings. Rather than use the percussion heavy beginning, i chose this ending break, hoping to fool one or two people, then learned no one here even knows who this is.
http://www.discogs.com/release/66788
06 York - OTB (On the Beach) (CRW Remix)
Almost everyone got at least a partial but only 8 fully id'd this trance classic. Played by pretty much anyone big DJ-wise in 99/2000. I prefer the B Side, but thought this would get more responses.
http://www.discogs.com/release/147256
07 Life on Mars - Life in Minds (LIM Vocal Mix) unidentified
Thought at least one person would get this track off of Paul Oakenfold's Global Underground 007 disc. This particular mix first saw the press in 1997 but took almost a year to take off.
http://www.discogs.com/release/90060
08 Frank Zappa - Nanook Rubs It
Pretty much everyone got this one. Off of various Zappa compilations. First released on the Zappa album, Apostrophe in 1974.
http://www.discogs.com/release/488336
09 Mesh - Esthetic Visions
This In Trance we Trust release came just as the label was losing steam to the ASOT machine but proved that they still had some talent under their wing. The A Side purple haze did ok, but the BSide, Esthetic visions, saw quite a bit of popular play time.
http://www.discogs.com/release/129177
10 Blue Haze - Into Nothing (Bill Hamel's Back to Nine Remix)
Huge tune in the spring and summer of 04 from major prog djs. Saw quite a bit of play on Radio 1 that year as well. It was a big year for Michael Burns, who's A-Side did as well as this remix.
http://www.discogs.com/release/344220
11 Aphex Twin - 4
The leading track from the Richard D. James album, this is probably one of the Warp label's bigger tunes. In the classic Aphex Twin style, this song combines IDM drum programming with beautiful pads and synthesis.
http://www.discogs.com/release/30849
12 The Soft Pink Truth - Promofunk unidentified
This tune fell into my lap in the fall of 04. A type of glitchy electro music as that genre was getting big, I thought this album would get some play as the genre has gained popularity, but it still remains buried in a pile of Soundslike releases.
http://www.discogs.com/release/115502
13 Delirium - Silence (DJ Tiesto's absurdly famous remix)
Let's all make fun of Zenchowdah and Psy-T, the only 2 to miss this one
http://www.discogs.com/release/33176
14 Pomp - Under Different Circumstances
Circumstances made alot of mixes, but Oakenfold chose the trancier B-Side, Under Different Circumstances to hold together his sets from 2002 to 2004. This never received a proper pressing but has seen some renegade pressings throughout the years.
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Pomp+(2)
15 Glimmer of Dope - Love Lost isoterra unique
I phonetically told you an album this song appeared on but only our winner knew this song from 1996. This song has occasionally had bouts of popularity since it's initial pressing, but I hoped more of you would know this one from Warren's Reykjavik mix
http://www.discogs.com/release/210826
16 Mortar & Pestle - Itsachickthing (Luke Chable Remix)
Has Luke Chable fallen under the radar already? I mean, sure, alot of his mixes sound the same but this nice piano piece coupled with a decent melody was a solid offering from Chable last year.
http://www.discogs.com/release/122192
17 End-User - Not so Distant Drums
From the Bollywood Breaks EP, End-User amen-break DNB has delighted us for four years now. Chose this for its unique to the album, yet common across many tracks existence
http://www.discogs.com/release/330906
18 Tom Wax & Jan Jacarta - Wormhole (Pulser Remix) Groundline unique
This song got a 99 Remake, then a 2000 Remix session with trance name Pulser, on the heels of cloudwalking fame. Its not his biggest tune but got plenty of play from PVD among others.
http://www.discogs.com/release/42866
19 Daft Punk - Robot Rock (Soulwax Remix)
A good amount of you immediately recognized this as some remix of the Daft Punk song. A quick search revealed this remix.
http://www.discogs.com/release/551422
20 Starkid - Crayons
With the anniversary of Adam's death during my contest, I felt it a necessity to include this song. Made everyone who was notables playlist in 2003; got intense remix treatment after his death in 2004 (R.I.P. Adam Spears).
http://www.discogs.com/release/128513
21 Plankton - Sunrise Acid MichaelBoogerd! unique
Some tunes have alot of nostalgic meaning and that includes this song for me, Tiesto's opener on Forbidden Paradise 4: High as a Kite. Try finding this on vinyl.
http://www.discogs.com/release/122192
22 The Swimmer - Stand By
Huge in the 98-99 era of trance. Made Magik 2. Rather cheap sounding by today's standards, but still a fun tune.
http://www.discogs.com/release/315252
23 M83 - Don't Save us from the Flames (Superpitcher Remix)
The haunting lyrics of the original and the dance floor friendliness of this remix made this the choice for me in this contest.
http://www.discogs.com/release/395184
24 Inkfish - Acting Out
I think, at one point, Markus Schulz dropped this for 2 months straight on GDJB. Other djs hammered it as well for the crazy vocals. I even made a thread with the vocals here. Ill buy this White label from anyone who has it.
http://www.discogs.com/release/128551
25 Kid 606 - Twirl (Matmos' Photoshoot Remix)
From the 2003 Remix album: "P.S. You Love Me" based on kid606' album P.S. I love You. This was my difficult Google sample. I thought at least one person would try to Google photoshoot remix
http://www.discogs.com/release/22295
26 Dntel - (This is) The Dream of Evan and Chan
From the 2001 album, Life is Full of Possibilities, this is probably the most famous Dntel track. Also worth checking out are Umbrella and Suddenly is Sooner than you Think.
http://www.discogs.com/release/16855
27 Benny Goodman - Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)
Arguably the most famous swing song of all time, used in many advertising campaigns world wide, owned by every one of our grandparents...It's no wonder you were all able to nail this one despite it's total unrelatedness to edm
http://www.discogs.com/release/698528
28 The Infernal Machine - Realistic (Infernal Machine's 2001 Remix) isoterra unique
The best remix of this song never made it onto the original pressing of this song or the Vandit 2004 re-pressing. Nonetheless, it got plenty of play from PVD and Ferry Corsten, among others.
http://www.discogs.com/release/137752
29 Gloria Jones - Tainted Love
Unlike common perception, Soft Cell's Tainted love is not the original but rather this singer's original interpretation. Not only did she record the original tainted love, but she was also driving the car when Marc Bolan dies in a fatal car accident
http://www.discogs.com/release/475685
30 Firewall - Sincere (Lange Mix)
Immense in the 03 ASOT days, another non-surprise that this was almost universally IDd.
http://www.discogs.com/release/191296
31 Venetian Snares - ngyilkos Vasrnap
Venetian Snares' version of Gloomy Sunday comes from the Rossz Csillag Alatt Szletett album. Arguably one of the best breakcore albums of all time, Aaron Funk actually explores several side of music, all while keeping true to his sound and form. If you like music at all, check out Hajnal from this album.
http://www.discogs.com/release/419871
32 Robag Whrume - Robag's Bobb Fuhr F groundline unique
Rather than play the standard minimal beat, i decided to use this nice vocal bit, from the end of the song. Been played quite a bit but this version is from the WighnomyWighnomy Brothers/ Robag Whrume disc, Remikks Potpurri which debuted last September.
http://www.discogs.com/release/534392
33 Jelly Roll Morton - Black Bottom Stomp
This is like the Sing, Sing, Sing of comedies; it appears in any number of comedies, from Family Guy to Mr. Bean.
http://www.discogs.com/release/496219
34 The Pixies - Where is my Mind?
From Fight Club. Also, from Jan's contest 3 or four rounds ago. If anyone else tells me that, I will scream!
http://www.discogs.com/release/754567
35 The Quest - Solitude isoterra unique
The B-Side to The Quest - C Sharp's ITWT release is an underplayed classic that is just as good as the original, especially since those shit 200x remixes hit the market.
http://www.discogs.com/release/43537
36 Kamaya Painters - Northern Spirit MichaelBoogerd! unique
One of Tiestos most famous side projects and the second track on Magik 4. While not having the popularity of as Summerbreeze, it is, at least, it's equal.
http://www.discogs.com/release/26579
37 Threesome - Mohave camwin unique
No, this isn't Armin's remix of Aria - Dido, this is the song whose melody he borrowed from to create that remix. This one never reached a supreme level of popularity but ,as an itwt release, saw plenty of playlists.
http://www.discogs.com/release/17463
38 The Andrews Sisters - Bei Mir Bist Du Schon
The lyrics: Bei mir bist du schon
Please let me explain
Bei Mir Bist Du Schon means that you're grand.
Almost everyone knows this song; this version is done for the Swing Kids Soundtrack from the original score
http://www.discogs.com/release/715878
39 Deltron 3030 - Mastermind Zenchowdah unique
Everyone knows his other project, Gorillaz, but The Deltron 3030 album is quietly one of the best hip-hop albums of this millennium. Definitely in the hard category, under hip-hop
http://www.discogs.com/release/45721
40 Kayestone - Atmosphere (Recon Remix) unidentified
This song was a bit on the cheesier side but still saw some diverse playlists , especially when this 2000 interpretation hit shelves.
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Kayestone
41 Hellfish & Producer - The Uridium Project
The kind of song that makes your parent's kick you out of the house, it features some top notch vocal effects to kick things off and it's high energy make this Planet Mu release worth checking out
http://www.discogs.com/release/22009
42 Tangled Universe - Melodies from the Universe
Id only heard this on di.fm and counted it as a hard trance one till i started receiving claims tiesto bashed it. I'm still not sure about that, but love this song which is a solid opener for a trance or progressive mix. ITWT yet again
http://www.discogs.com/release/41233
43 Oxia - Domino
This song was pretty hot all summer from various DJs and has started collecting on various summer mix comps.
http://www.discogs.com/release/648476
44 Blanktonez - Pleasure Ride (Main Squeeze Vocal Mix)unidentified
The opener from Bugz in the Attic's essential mix last year. If you missed that one, check it out, one of last year's best EMs.
http://www.discogs.com/release/57943
45 Green Jelly - 3 Little Pigs Euphoria unique
A gimmicky song from 1993 that involved a rock band's take on the traditional story of the 3 little pigs. The story involved Rambo and ended with the line: "And the moral of the story is, 'A band with no talent can easily amuse idiots, with a stupid, puppet show." The song sold millions in America.
http://www.discogs.com/release/385353
46 Bong-Ra - Jah Kingdom
A personal Fave, Bong-ra has been rocking the DNB circuit for a few years including this track from Bikini Bandits, Kill Kill Kill. The song lyrics explain why this song is 4:20 in length.
http://www.discogs.com/release/190225
47 Luke Vibert - I Love Acid unidentified
Lyrics: "I love Acid, TB 303 romance. I love Acid...it'll put you in a trance" By the same man behind Wagonchrist this song is obviously about the electronic music staple of acid.
http://www.discogs.com/release/186355
48 Squarepusher - Tundra 4
Alot of partials on this one...but no full ids of one of warp's most famous artists. This is the BSide to his Venus 17 single.
http://www.discogs.com/release/298924
49 Shpongle - Divine Moments of Truth
Shame on all but 2 of you who couldn't ID this song, probably one of the most recognizable psy songs in the world. From his 1998 debut, Are you Shpongled?
http://www.discogs.com/release/27195
50 Stephan J Kroos - Phantasmz
Typical Anjuna sound, this 2004 release is on of the better tracks to grace the label ever since above and beyond took over. Received alot of play from Armin among others.
http://www.discogs.com/release/230741
51 Schneider TM vs. kpt.michi.gan - The Light 3000
Arguably the best cover song ever, this bleepy version of The Smiths - There is a Light...represents all that is good and right in the IDM World.
http://www.discogs.com/release/200561
52 Jay-Z feat. Eminem - Renegade
What?
I knew you'd all go for eminem without accounting for Jay-z, Eminem's superior who released this song on his album, The Blueprint.
http://www.discogs.com/release/441333
53 Gol - Angelica in Delerium
Obviously, I was collecting recommendations from friends for the id contest. This was a last minute entry that found its way in and I have no clue who gave it to me.
http://www.discogs.com/release/76701
54 Groove Park - Hit the Bang (Analogue Nation Remix)MichaelBoogerd! unique
Wasn't sure if anyone would get this, especially when i used the relatively unplayed remix because i barely had any remixes in the comp. The repetition of "bang!, bang!" would've tipped off anyone who knew the song, which in the this case was Michael. No surprise, as it was on FP4 as well
http://www.discogs.com/release/91874
55 Buckethead - Welcome to Bucketheadland unidentified
Thankfully none of you got this piece of shit that i only let in because i promised someone they could submit an id. This is an awful song by a guy whose career is notable for wearing a KFC bucket on his head.
http://www.discogs.com/release/365432
56 The Smashin Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight
The first commercial release of this double disc marked a change in the way people saw and heard the smashing pumpkins who had already done the world a service with Siamese Dream. This video was memorable for its style as much as the disc is for its overall quality.
http://www.discogs.com/release/367739
57 Southside Spinners - Luvstruck (Timo Maas Remix)
This song was huge, they say the name in the sample and Timo Maas' mix was arguably the most famous of the 2000 remix releases.
http://www.discogs.com/release/267409
58 Ryksop - Triumphant Gauss unique
The opening tune from their 2005 release The Understanding, this tune provides a simple but catchy approach to a more pop sound.
http://www.discogs.com/release/481377
59 Stunt Rock - Anyone Who Names A Track "Anyone Who Names A Track 'So And So Can Kiss My Such And Such Ass' Can Kiss My (Adjective) (Noun) Ass" Can Kiss My (Better Adjective) (Better Noun) Ass (Door Mouse Remix)
I wasn't going to require that anyone type out the whole name, but this track is one of the best hardcore songs ever. Try playing it for your mother or significant other to test their mettle or jam it down the highway to get strange looks from neighboring cars.
http://www.discogs.com/release/221182
60 Boards of Canada - Turquoise Hexagon Sun
This one didn't get a full id, to my disappointment but is still a nice track from one of the best artists to produce this kind of sound. Check it out on the classic, Music has the Right to Children
http://www.discogs.com/release/1354
61 Andy Hunter - Amazing (summit's Amazing Club Mix) Groundline unique
Prog classic from 02-03 that received mass play and allowed Andy Hunter to tour US stateside with Tiesto.
http://www.discogs.com/release/115527
62 Spacehog - In the Meantime
The lead track and first commercial release from Spacehog, a mid 90's band combining synths and rock instruments for commercial music. Hard for the alternative category.
http://www.discogs.com/release/600957
63 Skeeter Davis - The End of the World
Tons of versions of this song too, but this one is from the infamous scene in Girl, Interrupted where Daisy (Brittany Murphy) hangs herself, Watch it with your girlfriend to stare at 5 hot ass chicks.

73 Gauss' ID: Umek - Libido (Random Logic Mix)
74 System J's ID: N.W.A. Straight Outta Compton (I'd just like to note that this is my favorite ID in the contest. It is everything a good ID should be...recognizable, popular, yet not necessarily immediately recallable.)

What a disaster
Now that I see all the IDs... No wonder I didn't score more.
Congratulations to Isoterra and hurry up with the new contest.
w00t! the hiver & hammer guest ID was mine if anyone wondered, one of my favourite tunes of all time
massive thanks to tribu for a thoroughly entertaining contest, your hints were excellent & prompted alot of detective work. also reminded me i need to track down more classic ITWT tunes
up until groundline's ID37 i'd barely even taken any notice of the ID contests at all & didn't expect to win one so early... so not quite sure what i'm going to pick for the next one. it will be alot easier though
Wow, I really do suck at trance IDs.
6th ain't too shabby for a first entry though.
Congrats to Isoterra.
