Yes, I am absolutely that dumb, that's why I can attend pretty much any school I want. You just seem to have a bad habit of posting your opinions as if they were facts, that's all (either that or just being terribly undiplomatic). Personally I try to make a point of writing what I mean so that I in turn mean what I write, aswell assume that people mean what they write; but I assume that makes me dumb... silly me. To me, the difference between "I find that Hybrid have little to no talent as producers" contra "Hybrid have little to no talent as producers" to be quite obvious. One presents a subjective opinion, whereas the other presents an objective one.

almost EVERY argument against music made on a forum like this is going to be subjective, whether it's worded in in such a manner or otherwise. it's pointless trying to correct people using objective wording in such cases; if you know it's subjective anyway then why bother?

the problem lies not with how people choose to word their opinions, but how others interpret them

Another thread goes down the shitter.
I just heard his remix of Open Our Eyes that everyone is salivating over.
To be honest, I don't see what all the excitement is about.
He's just added his trademark bassline and done little else. The Got Piano mix is discordant and clashes with that beautiful synth.
The thoughtful No Piano Mix addresses this issue but then it is not a remix anymore, but a mere re-work.

Don't get me wrong, he's a good producer and has done some bangin' stuff but people shouldn't blindly follow and thoughtlessly devour whatever they hear on ASOT.

That doesn't make sense at all. Every reply in this thread is subjective. Doesn't matter how you twist and turn it. In the same way as there is no objective journalism there are no objective views of music. I thought most people already knew this.

One simple way to make sure people interpret one's text the way one wants them to interpret it, is to actually word it as to properly reflect that which one wishes to convey. Again, if you say what you mean, you mean what you say. If you don't say what you mean, you consequently don't mean what you say; and if you don't say what you mean, is it really up to others to know what you mean? Just a thought... anyway, I'm off to bed.

How does that not make any sense?

The piano is not in key with the rest of the harmonies between xx:xx and xx:xx > objective fact
The piano melody doesn't sound good imo, I don't like the melody > subjective opinion

Clear enough for you?

So let me get this straight. When I write out "This tune is not good". You take that as objective fact in comparison with "I think this tune is not good" ?

Posted by Sinnica Hax on Aug-11-2006 08:02:

dont bother christian

You suck, and so do your reasoning skills.

In my opinion, of course.

unless it can be unanimously proven in concrete to be a correct or incorrect fact, it's a subjective view. how in christ's name can commenting on a tune's depth & energy be a matter of fact or not?

on the contrary, it would be even simpler if people used their brains more often. if anyone actually thinks something like 'this tune is shit' is an objective view & ends up taking offence to it & hating themselves for liking shit music, they deserve all the flak they get frankly

well, now you're taking more than the wording into account. obviously the first one is objective because it's regarding a musical technicality & can be proven right or wrong. "His tune lacks the energy to be banging and lacks depth to become solid" on the other hand is quite blatently a subjective opinion

Come oooooooooooooooon, I just listend Stevieboy32808's Proper Trance Mix. I understand what you guys mean with Proper/Classic trance, but there is not one track in that set which even comes close the energy and power of "Sean Tyas - Pacifier".

Pacifier has far more energy in it and will blow the roof at any party. And yes it was played at ASOT, so what.

It's one of those tracks like "Jones & Stephenson - The First Rebirth" which scream to play it loud, LOUDER, until you can KISS YOUR FUCKING EARS GOODBYE. (quote ID&T Hardcore )

If you still want more energy you need to go to RAVE or HARDCORE, but for most TA's they miss what they love in Trance. So much energy they need drugs to reach the end of the party......

Also I know for sure tracks are played at ASOT which you would call proper trance, but I don't think any of you "not ASOT lovers" is going to admit this. And yes, of course there is more trance than ASOT, but it's so fucking easy to listen to ASOT.

when have I said that the tracks in Steves mix are powerful and energetic?
None of the tracks in that mix are especially banging. Sure they are all great.

When I wrote "there is more banging tracks" I was refering to tracks such as Human Blue - Disco Code, Cosma - Nonstop, Electric Universe - Excellerator etc.

Okay, you didn't, but you did say more powerful than ASOT. Well, what Trance is much more powerful?

Never heard of the tracks you're refering to. But at the Human Blue site can can see a lot of Goa.
There is a lot of energy in Goa, but it's not that uplifting in my view. Also is a sort of trance only liked by a smaller group of TA's.

I'll listen to Cosma to get things clear.
Do you have any examples of the Classic period in the mid 90's?

There are loads of uplifting goa tunes packed with energy. Check out Chi-A.D. - Exit Eternity, Astral Projection - Aqua Line Spirit, Astral Projection - Axis etc.

Here is a sample of Human Blue - Disco Code.
