Wouldn't you rather they take all these percautions to keep you safe instead of totally looking over all of it?

WTF? I wear contact lenses and they irritate my eyes sometimes...they irritate everyone's eyes who wear them sometimes due to dust etc. getting in them. I usually take them out, wet them, and put them back in...now what the hell am I supposed to do? Or what if I want to go to sleep....you're not supposed to wear them if you sleep...and if you do they get drive...thus need contact fluid to wet them again!

I agree with that, I don't really understand why people are always freaking out about things that are actually for their own benefit at the end of the day...

wear glasses? I mean honestly people there is no reason to even bitch here, they set these regulations for a reason. It's not like living without wearing contacts for a few hours is going to ruin someone's life.

no

most def. not.

you're still getting on the plane with things that can be used as weapons and with enough motivation you can find one on the plane.

just my humble opinion.

best wishes to all flying today, you're all going to be fine, and one day it'll be a great story to recount.

so you can bring the cases with some solution in them I guess

hahaha "now they have to taste the baby formula.....eeeeexxxceellllennntttt"

Honestly the only ones who would be causing any suffering are people who don't bother to follow the rules and make it difficult for everyone around them. Can you imagine how stressed out airport staff must be at this time? People that want to act difficult over some rules set for their own good definitely don't make the staff's lives any easier.

All these proctols seem like a pain...

But I guess I would suck it up for the sake of getting somewhere safely...

Hmmm...I don't know about the clear plastic bags...It's somewhat violating our privacy, no?

But I'd be okay with the clear plastic bags idea too, or any measures taken to prevent terrorist attacks on planes.

true true

right now I'm just hoping this is only concerning BA flights, not my KLM flight on 24th

When 10 planes were that close to being blown up....privacy violations should be the LAST thing on anyone's mind.

The problem with the whole "oh well they are just doing it for your safety so you can't complain" argument is that I was quite safe flying 10 years ago, without going through all these restrictions at the airport. I remember a time when getting from the airport onto the plane took about an hour. Now you have to spend half a day going through all these security checks.

I understand they're just trying to protect our safety, but how much must the traveller be violated to allow for that? If some terrorist fucks find a way to lace explosives into their clothes, are they going to strip us naked and make us walk through an x-ray passage, telling us "at least you're safe now"?

What if this does happen on your flight? Will you opt out of coming back to Canada because you can't bring your purse on the flight??

Use the plastic bags they give you, put what ever it is in it that you need and move on. They are doing these things for your saftey.

Dima even though this may be true, the world is not like it was 10 years ago. ITs unfortunate and I am sure we all wish that it didn't have to be this way. But there are people in this world that are prepared to do things that will cause much harm to others.

I really think that everyone should be happy that things are being to done to keep us safe. What if they weren't doing anything. How would you feel then? Would you bitch about the fact that "something could have been done to prevent this"????

Words that sum up the post 9/11 world.

+1

I would like to think that our xray machines were able to pick up the difference between a bottle of evian and a bottle of home made liquid high explosives. The fact that they 'have' to ban these substances, and only now we're safe, is kinda a scary thought in itself.

Making people taste medicine and baby formula. If this makes you feel more safe, I'm glad, cause for me this changes absolutely nothing.

I'm looking forward to my next flight on the 26th, hopefully the american security will have calmed a little, they can come across as being quite unplesant when they're anxious.

Security forces at airports must be having a really rough day.

what? did I say i have anything against these majors?
yes they make our lives harder, yes the boarding processes will be longer, but hopefully flights will be safer

having said that I hope these security majors WON'T affect my flights only meant that hopefully there won't be any other threats in any other major airports so usual securities checks would be enough

hell yeah, I'll go arround with 5 plastic bags if needed to get back to Tdot.

Attacking our economy is just bad as attacking our people. I'll continue to fly out once or twice a year, doing my share, otherwise, they win.

Otherwise, great to get to know you MK from your posts. Understanding where each other comes from, helps understand each other in general. Posting to get to know each other is a lot with what this board is all about.

45 security checks later and i'm home!

what a shitshow that airport was though.

even pearson is pretty intense right now with security measures.

Yeh my hubby was complaining about that a few minutes ago. He flies for a living literally being a consultant and can't find his contact solution in Canada. Since a lot of times he'll go on standby, as O'hare these days always has been getting delays, checking his luggage causes problems.

SUCKSSSSSSS...

MK, my prayers and thoughts are with your family/friends. Hopefully everyone gets to their destination safe and sound.

Is this what you had in mind?

From an Israeli newspaper - reads: "Sorry, Security requirements have increase" (more or less).

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Aug-10-2006 20:38:

My point precisely, lol.

(It's actually weird how you found EXACTLY what I was talking about. Creepy.)
