Own/Owned = 0wn/0wned = Pwn/Pwned = Pawn/Pawned = P0Wn/P0Wned etc etc etc till the end of time.

People often add z0r at the end of the word too. Dunno why.

people need to start treating each other with respect and dignity. why let thousand year old scriptures dictate how we think. the human brain is such an amazing organ and tool. surely we all have enough intelligence to put ourselves first before our religion.

I totally agree.

Explain the 21 million Google returns for "ambient house" then. Even if only 1% of those results are relevant to ambient house (and not just associating "house") then that's two hundred thousand results for the term. And look at the results- countless music sites. Do you want to take a poll of TA as well to see if anyone else thinks I've made this genre up? I'd be perfectly happy to.

The genre is a ghost, because two journalists have decided to refer to the dubby ambience of the orb and categorise it as "ambient house" means NOTHING!See what i say later...

And I'm not going to educate you on what trance sounds like. All you'd do is disagree mindlessly

Unfortunately it's because you don't have a clue of what original classic trance is.Classic trance is just house or techno music (which can be extremely slow as well...)with lot's of melodic overtones, ambient cinematic soundscapes (dance 2 trance-"we came in peace") and occasionally(but not always) sequences of bleepy and/or melodic arpeggiations which in turn after 1992,had provided the basic element that distinquished trance from house and/or techno(such as the lead-arpeggiation in the orb's "...rulling form the center of the ultraworld"...this is the tune i was referring to from the beginning not little fluffy clouds...LFC was used as an ambient intro in the logic trance compilation anyway see discogs though and it's "trance" labelling...).

quote:
Ambient house is most commonly characterised as contempory, sample-heavy ambient music usually with soft beats or rhythms

This is one of the most loose descriptions i have EVER seen.Seriously, this description can fit about 1/3 of the genres of EDM, including, early detroitian deep techno such as Derrick May's "nude photo" and many other tunes by him and Juan Atkins(under his "infinity" project) and the deeper works of carl craig(elements) and many others all fit your description, also berlinesque minimalistic techno and the works of Basic Channel-influenced Fluxion and monolake, the whole world-beat scene and especially EARLY trance, such as Trance's creator-the GREAT pioneer Pete Namlook, who was originally a MAJOR AMBIENT composer (i consider him the third greatest after Brian Eno and Steve Roach )and who thought of "trance-music" as "Techno-dance" music with ambient soundscapes or "dynamic ambient" or the "dance-side" of ambient.

And now some early EDM history

The FIRST trance album is considered to be Peter Namlook's "4-voice" album and fits your generic-to-death description PERFECTLY.The Orb had a direct relation to ambient, in a matter of fact you can view the orb project as an "ambient and dub project " and the KLF side-project (which involved one half of the orb-Jimmy Cauty) dwelling more on the acid house side of things. In 1991, the KLF had experimented with the big anthemic house, something that is evident in their "white room" l.p. and their discovery of trance, something which is also evident in their tune "return to trancentral"...yes thank god the musicians are not stereotyped and linear like you and they are happy to incorporate many elements in their music. Ofcourse you don't have a A CLUE about all that, you have red 2-3 thinks about how EDM started and you think you know everything, you are "Well educated" in talking bullshit though!!!As you can see the experience(exposure to a large nuber of early tunes) DOES indeed make a difference and that's evident in the hundreds of early TRANCE tunes which you HAVEN'T listen and fit your crappy "Ambient-house" definition perfectly such as...(a slight sample)

Space Cube- "Dolphins" ( a perfect tune, it resembles the orb's early works)
Sven Vath- "L'Esperanza"
Sven Vath- "Mellow Illusion" (which also sounds a bit like orbital's lush 3.1!)
Dance 2 Trance- "Remember Exxon Valdez"
Dance 2 Trance- "Atlantis"
Cosmic Baby- "Au Dessous De Nuages"
Cosmic baby- "Fantasia" (PERFECT TUNE by the way! This is slightly more upbeat though)
Cosmic Baby- "Heaven's Tears"
Cosmic Baby- "Liebe"
Barbarella- "the secret Chamber of dreams" (a 13 minute lush epic, slimilar in style-to orbitals halcyon except for the female vocals)
Barbarella- "The mission" (this is more to show you that trance can go completely "breaky")
Salt tank- "Eugina" (Pacific Edit)
Scubadevils- "Celestial Symphony"
And many moooreee by Spicelab (oliver lied), effective force, jam and spoon and mannyy othersss are trance(ambient house!?!)

So what happened there???Are these tunes that i have just described(and many others) trance or ambient house? The answer from a "journalistic" perspective is just trance because simply putting it, these artists were loosely categorised by the media as trance(and were belonging to the "trance-scene"another confusing thing. You also confused genres with scenes). From a musical perspective though, these so-called (and many other early) "Trance" tunes have similar qualities not only with "ambient" but also with what it was referred back then as "techno", "house" (and many other styles of music in general) and in many cases were the one and the same! This proves the "ill nature" of genre definitions. If you also listen to early trance albums about half of the tunes were pure ambient music/downtempo electronica. This also proves the close relation between early trance and ambient. "Ambient house" was one of those "sub-genres" that was probably created by some music labels and journalists in order to give a "special attitude" to some artists, or even worse-single TUNES!(ermm probably to a handfull of tunes by the orb...)Yes it's true, about one third of early "trance" tracks fit your description!!!That's why "ambient-house" is NOT an ACTUAL genre and that's why was never used in a serious fashion, NOT A SINGLE "AMBIENT-HOUSE" COMPILATION EVER EXISTED.This shows a lot.Oh mind you , the google results for "Ambient house" are ALL irrelevant...it just demonstrates links that contain the words "Ambient" and "house" Doh...(Except for the wikipedia link!)...but ofcourde you didn't think of that...See what also Ishkur says about "ambient-house" in his site...yes it's just ambient music!

Oh and as you have noticed, your description prooves the ill-defined nature of music-categorisation and the dynamic ever-changind continuous relation that exists between and within musical genres (genre and sub-genre definitions), but unfortunately you are so braindead that it's impossible to understand it...scum...!

I didn't say you asked him to stop. You started SHOUTING about it and talking bullshit as if it was a shit arguing tactic, when you do it yourself.

I wasn't shouting you prick, i was arguing with tiesto and i was being ironic on him(about his age attack) and you came out-of-nowhere like a fart and start talking bullshit(like you always do) like "petran has raped me in the past don't let him do the same to you", no-one has asked you prick to come out of your dark lonely kitchen and start trolling again because last time you have been pwned! We were having a political discussion and because you are a lonely little troll and a major asshole you thought "aahh here is the opportunity to ruin a TA thread, its that guy again..."and you have made it.I'm off with you, you have proven that you are incapable of holding an appropriate conversation without demonstarting your terrible street attitude you chav, i'm always trying to talk in a serious fashion and you respond with a massive wave of bullshit and that's because you don't have anything to say, you are completely uneducated in everything and the only thing that is left in you is how to insult...Bravo Asshole!!!

14 is my favorite number because i was born on the 14th of April....i was 14 in 1989 pal.

Fair-enough mate.

The irony of things is that the current thread was created in order to demonstrate the peacefull qualities of music.Unfortunately it seems that music itself can be a reason of war and even worst music categories!Music categories are extremely ill-defined and this is another major reason of why music is actually good in unifying rather then dividing people.

I know exactly what classic trance sounds like. I know what ambient house sounds like. Take a Spicelab album or a J&S album or any classic trance album, then put it against Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld, or The KLF's Chill Out, the two definitive ambient house albums. If you cannot hear the difference (which seems to be the case) then that's your own stupidity.

What you don't seem to understand is that words don't describe sounds perfectly. You've very cleverly realised that broad genre descriptions can fit several genres because they're just words.

I could have an argument here, but your consistent, smothering stupidity really has removed my will to. From what you seem to be saying, almost any early 90s music produced in Germany or the UK that wasn't hardcore or acid house could be called "trance". If you want to deny that ambient house exists, go ahead. It's all trance.
