Over the next 10 years I'd bet on maybe Ferry, Serge, Sander Van Doorn, possibly Jollins, Kai, and perhaps one or two NYTA's if they keep up their networking and productions.

What makes a DJ successful or popular?

Productions and networking can definately put you on the map. But then there's also charisma and the energy that you give to the crowd. It's part of what makes the difference between Armin @ Tobacco vs PvD @ Summer IMO.

I arrived on Friday at 9 and from what I heard it was all right. Loved the music at Element afterwards! I was there pretty much the whole time Saturday. It was nice . He's getting old.

Anyone get a pic of that little 4 year old kid waving around oversized glowsticks. fuckin' hilarious!

in 2000-2001, we never referred to DJs by numbers

true, and I prefer it as well, it allows me to learn dj techniques and mix-in points by listening to livesets vs the singles. where as the whole live pa/ableton junk is even more frustrating than when PvD used to remix his junk exclusive, cause now we really can't get even a bootleg of the track. i guess it makes his sets that much more exclusive.

also, not to hijack....saturday was better then friday. he played NBY [Vandit mix] my favorite version, same as he played in 03 show.

oh and somebody busted out some fire poi outside. we were spinning some glowsticks when we heard a crowd of people react behind us, we turned and this dude straight out is spinning with fire in the woods by the back stands. i was sure the guy was gonna get a free ride in the blue and white but apparently he wasn't noticed? flames weren't that big but it was bad-ass. first time i have seen firespinning in person.

saturday was awesome! specially towards the end. got lots of videos.. will post soon on myspace... beer was $hit (god, i hope i'll never see brooklyn brewery again lol). lines to the toilets - ridiculous. also, at one point one of the security girls came up to me and told me i was not allowed to record videos with my digital camera LOL, that was such bull$hit.

overall, a great set by PVD both nights(although..there were moments when he was putting me to sleep..) i'm glad he was so alive at the decks! u could see he was having a great time

Posted by DJDavidScott on Aug-21-2006 01:21:

Word Brother! I had a great time both nights. The technical performance alone did it for me. The added percussion with the drummer totally brought these sets into a more techy-trance set...I loved it. Watching Paul orchestrate this set was impressive. Two thumbs up! Great production all around!

Everything is a damned contest these days. I think that poll should be thrown in the trash. Funny, cuz I would imagine we would see a lot more creativity in dj's sets again, even in ones of those who are considered "big names".

both sets were fucking awesome

Actually I was in that too and the cop was standing there and watching, but when I arrived it was a girl doing it. Maybe it wasnt the same person. The person we was was at the right hand side of the stage right before the beer and food areas.

So you should have been there, you what have known what he played

Posted by Dirichlet on Aug-21-2006 13:02:

Def thought sat was far better than friday...
Although some (many) of the tracks were the same, I felt he mixed them better, and worked better w/ the drummer.
I also wish the sky had opened up and started pouring... that sprinkle was such a tease.
I'll post some pics/vids some time later.

He must have been playing some unusual remixes because I dont even remeber half of these. Or quite possible the area that we were chilling in didnt have the best sound arangement.

He only played like 15 seconds of Aalto - 5 what a fucking tease!I dont remeber second turn because I was probably just walking in at the time. He also played Playmo with ATRC lyrics which I heard he also played the night before.

Does anyone remember what song came after through your eyes?

Posted by PvDoBseSSioN on Aug-21-2006 14:35:

does anybody know what song was played b4 Terranova & Austin Leeds - Shake Me on friday???? it was a really hard track from 04' i believe
