I'm pretty sure the irony in this is that Steve Irwin daily handles some of the deadliest animals around and never dies, yet when he handles one of the most placid animals that can still be called dangerous he is killed.

This was really depressing news to me. Not so much because of the loss of Irwin himself, but of his invincibility. Irwin, to me, represented an irrepressable strength and vivacity that I thought would never die. And here we are. All of that is gone.

I wouldn't put this on a level with 9/11. Personally, I associate this with the death of Robert Moog. Something of the brand of humanity that defined my life is gone.

I'm gutted about this, hardly saw the person and his shows, but when he did, I liked them.

He seemed really enthusiastic and genuinely caring.

In my case .. Snakes.. So yeah i respected him greatly and admired what he has done for wild life conservation.. Greatest guy in the world in my opinion when it came to that

Steve Irwin should have done Snakes On a Plane

News does travel fast, I heard when I woke up at 9this morning my family were all discussin it.
I really do feel so sad about this.
He was a a man with a big heart and who as some have said, never had a bad thing to say, never got into bad press, and was never out to hurt anyone, but only to show people nature and how to embrace what a beautiful thing nature is, aswell as be a bit adventurous and some would say crazy, along the way, but in a good way.

I feel for his family more than I usually do with celebrities, as I dont personally know them.
But he was a great man, a nice man, and one who will be sorely missed, by the world, and most of all by his fellow countrymen and especially his family.
My heart goes out to his family, who have lost a man who could only love.

Definitely sad to see him go. Although he was a bit odd at times (well, most of the time), I have a lot of repect for the conservation stuff he did up in northern Australia.
