I couldn't move all yesterday and still feel like shit now - I only have a couple of pints and some vodka! Then BAM! No recollection of anything and NO PHONE. If ANYONE can shed ANY LIGHT on my evening, I will be very grateful... |

| Originally posted by tw1tch Not that I go that frequently, but for the times I've gone since opening night (Deep Dish), that's been the busiest since then. I've never seen the Carl, everyone raves about him. I didn't think it was anything special, not saying it was bad, I had a great time. I quite honestly (never seen him before either) enjoyed Greg Gow's set more than the others. I will say, the hype that Carl Cox brings is infectious. |
wow what a night. Got there very early, beat the rain. The oppening acts were very slow and I almost fell alseep. The Green Day track could have been a bit more energetic but very nice change to hear and Abracadabra was mixed very poorly. Once Carl the man came on it was on. I was right over top of the crowd upstairs when he came on and I have never seen such energetic emotions and anticipation for one DJ before it was kinda magical to watch.
Found some good dance space beside the stage up close by the bathroom so I was a happy camper. Umbrellas for the smokers was awsome and greatly appreciated and once that rain let up the party moved out the patio, met so many nice people and the crowd was amazing. Couldn't believe it was actually over when it was I could have gone another 4-5 hours! Good seeing all that I did and caught up with some old friends as well.
Funny moment of the night:
The new bouncer trying to kick out Manzone and strong.
Wow is he ever fired. haha

What an awesome time for a Wednesday night. I had a really good time.
As for Cox's set, from about 2am-3:15am, I was pumping my fist in the air, jumping up and down and screaming for the entire time. It was that 1 hour and 15 minutes that made the whole night worth it.
Tracks of the night:
A tune that had the D'Ibiza accepella.
The 30 seconds of Daft Punk - Da Funk <--- He played this at the height of his set. Jesus christ. I can't remember the last time I went that crazy at a club.
Other than that hour and fifteen minutes, I'd say his set was "pretty good". I agree that he wasn't playing enough techno. But as I said before, that spurt of insanity made it an awesome night.
The crew we had out was great, even though I didn't really see a lot of you that much (I guess you guys were hanging out in VIP?).
Cox is a DJ that whenever he comes to town, I will do anything I can to see him. Cox is the fucking man.

I don't know when it became trendy to give hyper critical reviews all the time, but I think what often gets lost in the mix is whether or not you had fun.
It makes no sense to me to rip every night you go out to shreds. Sure people are better some nights than others, and i have no problem with people giving their opinion as to whether a person was good or bad, but for fucks sakes, lets not make it seem like the world was ending.
The thing I noticed about this night more than anything was the presence that the carl had. I think he had more stage presence than anyone I've ever seen. It was quite impressive. He was fun to watch, loved when he got on the mic.
It was really great to have the two levels of the club open, i wish that would happen more often.
Steve and I shared a lovely moment with an umbrella in the rain which I will cherish forever.
For a Wednesday that was one hell of a party!
