If we played non-trance it wouldnt be a trance night.
Im afraid anything as slow as you are suggesting just isnt appropriate except for at the beginning of the night.
All those other styles have their own nights.
There really arent as many trance djs who are 'out there' to choose from as you might think.
i second that ^^
although jimmy's sound is a bit too hard for me, i still think he better fits the night than an electro dj. many trance djs in the city have either migrated to different styles or have left the city, there really arent that many to choose from anymore
oh and i dont know if the idea of angelo mc'ing would be so great. he's a great guy and all, but if you let him out there, he'll talk over every track, IDing it and making comments
I can let you guys know a few of the people we did have in mind.
A few organix djs
James Fillman from Soundproof
Big Orange Dan
There are a few others, but these djs ive mentioned are older, mature, have day jobs, and do a good job with years of experience behind the decks.
Wicked. Two thumbs up here.
I have a few of out of town DJ's that would LOVE to come in.
PSY: Atomic Pulse
PROGRESSIVE TRANCE: Zero Divide [Jay Selway & John C.]
TRANCE: B.E.N.
ELECTRO TRANCE: Prosper
$$ my only concern, even after they are willing to give me a break.

Cool, sounds good. Ya I'm all for bringing some talent in, wherever they are from
Sorry I haven't been out much lately everyone, I was deathly ill ALL last week...its sunday now and I'm just starting to feel better...I'll be playing more trance and electro trance this week. Hope to see everyone there
James Fillman would be a good choice
Don't know about you guys but I think that when it comes to Cyber Wednesdays it's not the lack of talent but the lack of promotion that impacts the night. But then again: there's only so much that you can squeeze from Vancouver on a Wednesday night...
Even on a weekend night, the response has rarely been that good in the last two years.

it's getting especially difficult with edm crowd being a bit more mature than the top40 crowd. so us old folk actually have jobs to go to on thursday mornings, whereas the younger kids are still in school and probably don't have 8am classes very often
hey TA's.. so Cyber is open every Wed ?? I'm new to Van and went to cyber on friday.. Drum and Bass party... boooo
Just looking for a good club night that plays prog house/trance.
p.s... I cant wait for Matthew Dekay.. thats a party nobody should miss.. hes an up and coming superstar.
You can talk about promotion, what DJ's to bring in and what nights of the week are a good but deep down, IMO, trance is just about dead in Vancouver. The only time a trance event is well attended in Van is if it's someone big from out of town.
I give props to everyone who tries their hardest to continue pushing trance music in Van but sooner or later you have look at it realistically.

| Originally posted by SquiLa Yup. This is true. Props, but realistically... yep. I was just in Toronto this past weekend. WOW is all I have to say. What a difference - and still in our own country! All us trance lovers should just move there. Then the boys will be sorted out from the men - so to speak - in no time. Haha. _____________________________________________________________________ http://www.myspace.com/djlisakay |
