Lisa, with respect, either contribute with ideas, or remain silent..seriously, Its hard for anyone to take you seriously when (perfect example of that last post, which was about as useful as a solar powered flashlight) is you have little or nothing beneficial to say, and yet complain and gripe. Nice.

shall i honestly start compiling a list? it would be no one off fnk or ta btw.

and have i met you before?

*edit: this would invole asking people as i don't think posting their names on without asking would be right. and it would involve expanding the sound of the night from uplifting trance to progressive trance, progressive house w trance elements, electro trance and/or progressive electro house.

If we played non-trance it wouldnt be a trance night.

Im afraid anything as slow as you are suggesting just isnt appropriate except for at the beginning of the night.

All those other styles have their own nights.

There really arent as many trance djs who are 'out there' to choose from as you might think.

Posted by apri_peel on Jan-26-2007 01:45:

i second that ^^

although jimmy's sound is a bit too hard for me, i still think he better fits the night than an electro dj. many trance djs in the city have either migrated to different styles or have left the city, there really arent that many to choose from anymore

oh and i dont know if the idea of angelo mc'ing would be so great. he's a great guy and all, but if you let him out there, he'll talk over every track, IDing it and making comments

Posted by AquaYak on Jan-26-2007 01:49:

I can let you guys know a few of the people we did have in mind.

A few organix djs

James Fillman from Soundproof

Big Orange Dan

There are a few others, but these djs ive mentioned are older, mature, have day jobs, and do a good job with years of experience behind the decks.

Wicked. Two thumbs up here.

I have a few of out of town DJ's that would LOVE to come in.

PSY: Atomic Pulse
PROGRESSIVE TRANCE: Zero Divide [Jay Selway & John C.]
TRANCE: B.E.N.
ELECTRO TRANCE: Prosper

$$ my only concern, even after they are willing to give me a break.

how about mentioning said names so they could be contacted by sean/digital over or, posting your suggestions of who you think should be asked/invited, or, pming the list to sean (aqvayak). you could also try the roundabout but more secure way by asking your friends/contacts to contact sean/digitalover if they are interested.

i've given lists to sean on several occasions on his request, most of them willing to take a break (just need the cost of flight covered for them, and possibly a place to crash for the night). guys from across canada, some from the us and a few from europe. all smaller names so there won't be a huge bill (hence the flight and place to crash). styles ranging from prog trance, trance and hard trance. nothing has happened yet with that, and that's fine.

Cool, sounds good. Ya I'm all for bringing some talent in, wherever they are from

Posted by Digital Over on Feb-04-2007 20:23:

Sorry I haven't been out much lately everyone, I was deathly ill ALL last week...its sunday now and I'm just starting to feel better...I'll be playing more trance and electro trance this week. Hope to see everyone there

Posted by spinswax on Feb-09-2007 22:14:

James Fillman would be a good choice

Posted by xtr3m on Feb-09-2007 23:35:

Don't know about you guys but I think that when it comes to Cyber Wednesdays it's not the lack of talent but the lack of promotion that impacts the night. But then again: there's only so much that you can squeeze from Vancouver on a Wednesday night...

Even on a weekend night, the response has rarely been that good in the last two years.

he's not just talking about edm. who the hell goes clubbing on a wed? (rhetorical question b/c obv. some people do).

Posted by apri_peel on Feb-10-2007 19:07:

it's getting especially difficult with edm crowd being a bit more mature than the top40 crowd. so us old folk actually have jobs to go to on thursday mornings, whereas the younger kids are still in school and probably don't have 8am classes very often

Posted by e*motion on Feb-11-2007 23:55:

hey TA's.. so Cyber is open every Wed ?? I'm new to Van and went to cyber on friday.. Drum and Bass party... boooo
Just looking for a good club night that plays prog house/trance.

p.s... I cant wait for Matthew Dekay.. thats a party nobody should miss.. hes an up and coming superstar.

Posted by Joca on Feb-12-2007 00:44:

You can talk about promotion, what DJ's to bring in and what nights of the week are a good but deep down, IMO, trance is just about dead in Vancouver. The only time a trance event is well attended in Van is if it's someone big from out of town.

I give props to everyone who tries their hardest to continue pushing trance music in Van but sooner or later you have look at it realistically.

Yup. This is true. Props, but realistically... yep.

I was just in Toronto this past weekend. WOW is all I have to say. What a difference - and still in our own country! All us trance lovers should just move there. Then the boys will be sorted out from the men - so to speak - in no time. Haha.

BUT, they dont have mountains or the ocean. Sooooo.. we win.

p.s. If anyones looking for local talent, My roommate and I just moved here from Toronto.. opened up and played with acts such as Deep Dish, Desyn Masiello, and Oakenfold. Shoot me an email for a demo.
