There used to be a time (ie 2000-2001) where if I missed a Saturday night at the Guvernment I'd be depressed for a week. Now I wouldn't be caught dead at that place, unless it was for a DJ I really love.

I love the locals and the place, but it's just not for me. My Guvernment memories from years past are some of my best clubbing memories of all time tho.

if the fact that i refuse to go back there implies that i hate it, then yeah, i do.

the crowd sucks, the people are just sketchy, rude, pushy, obnoxious and gross. come to think of it, the people are the main reason i won't go. when i think of all the times i've heard a really fantastic set, none of those times have ever been at the guvernment. i don't like the "let's ram in every big name we can think of in one night" mentality...been there, done that. i want to hear longer sets not like 4 two hour ones. it's always too crowded and i just never have a good time when i go there. and why would i go somewhere when i consistently have a shit time? too many times i've said "oh, i'll go this night cos so and so is playing" and then have regretted it immediately. i like daskoolhaus and the lawler mornings on the skybar, but you couldn't pay me to go in the main room again (i'll possibly reconsider if danny is there, but that's pushing it).

i'm not gonna lie, i used to love it. those days are so long gone i barely remember them.

Even though I was not around for those days..I know pple that were and they tell me how amazing it was...They make me so jealous that any time they start to talk about it i leave the room b/c they have nothing but the best things to say...im jealous because I missed out...

The reason why it sux now is b/c the music has changes...Trance vs. Electro...Back in the day pple went out to Guvy "for the right reasons"...who have the love for the music and not overdosing on every drug...now we call those skasians..

I absolutely hate the Guvernment b/c of its crowd...its disgusting and dirty...You see things that pple told you about and you never believed b/c they were so stupid and nasty...W/E

I go only when they have big name djs...that's it....For example Marco V...

Sky Bar was my fav...Gallery and Orange Room are just gross...amazing music but too hot...

The only reason to like the Guvernment: THE GIFT!!! (which attracts that 2000-2001) crowd...

+1

Great point

On another note, I think shirtlessness should not be allowed (for guys )....it's gross, I think most (if not all) will agree

Posted by _EuG_ on Nov-03-2006 00:47:

i hate when people are to closed minded to go to other afterhours clubs other then the guv... they think our scene is GUV and thats it, OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE!!!!

Posted by jazzyrj on Nov-03-2006 01:57:

Used to visit the guvernement once every 3 months. Always for big events such as ultra spins, deca, freedom, and lol. But now its time to move on. Far too sketchy people for my liking.

Not everyone who I does the guv is, I met a lot of nice people and developed plenty of good friendships. But its time to move on, new direction in life and a need to focus my energies more on my family life and career.

Regards

at clubs I need techno.

I stillfucking love it at house/cottage parties when TA DJs are droping trance tracks and sets, but at clubs its not doing anything for me anymore...

and I still listen to trance all the time on my compy... about 40/60 trance/techno.

I'm so with you on that one....thats how I've been feeling for about the last year.

Agreed, pretty fucking disgusting

Hate the crowd. After last time at Lawler with him at the Skybar, being trapped in a crowd that was swaying back and forth; completely turned me off of that place. I was on the verge of a panic attack, as I could not get out of this swaying crowd. Very bad experience, way too many people, fire hazard. the end.
I only hang at the Gallery, once in a while.

yea. perhaps the sexes should switch roles, drippin with sweat girls. yum ? ha.

.
i prefered guvy back in its 'wearhouse' days, now its a little too 'classy' to create the perfect dancing mood.
like everyone else, tooo many past memories of that place, pretty much grew up there.

Thats what clubbing is usually all about.

Lots of people, big room, sweaty, and dancing their asses off

lol, good point

without the big crowds most clubs wouldn't survive.

Cant stand the atmosphere!! Far too weirdos, sorry but I cant deal with the hoard of sketcy saucer eyed shaped tweaker Asians, etards and snobby cokehead aristocrats.

I had some good times over the last five years, but im tired of going out to see the same old recycled headliners.

Whens the next time ill be going back to the Guv? Like Never.

dude. you're the one acting like a jaded **** washedup raver snob.

STFU

to everyone who hates sketchiness.
Sketch can be interpreted in many ways. Don't make me walk around filming ALL OF YOU on camera. There is not one night in any venue, in any dark location IN THE WORLD that is there is NO SKETCH AT ALL.

seriously - take that glowstick outta your ass.

I was waiting for someone to point that out. Shouldn't TIL be everyone's fave club because it's the least sketchy one around?

Yep and they are building a Drug Rehab centre in the location

Posted by sevyn on Nov-03-2006 05:30:

I'm in the middle on it. I mean Toronto in general is going through
a club 'slump' sort of don't you think? Guv like alot of other spots
will come back to light in it's fame once the slump is over. At
least that's what I think.
