a few of my favourite nights at Aria that come to mind..

Laurent Garnier 2004
Umek & Valentino 2003
Chris Liebing 6 hour set - 2003
Adam Beyer - April 2005 (the night I met my BF too!) Beyer was also good when he played with Marco Bailey in 2003.
DJ Dan - on a few different occasions
Speedy J (with Preach & Mateo.. such a great night!)
Carola, Vigorito & Smith - Halloween 2003
Ben Sims - twice
Jeff Mills - 2004 (beginning of the end of techno @ Aria)
Technasia - 2003
Carl Cox - 2003

+ many times that I saw Preach rock the place!

my favorites:

Mauro Picotto oct 2002
Mauro Picotto Jan 2004
Digweed and Howells labour day 2005
ferry corsten april 2005 and oct 2005
Mauro Picotto & JXL Feb 2006

whoaaa.....

Great nights, i missed plenty of them tho

sickest club when it was happening.
Im grateful cuz i was too young to experience most of the SONA days when i was 17 trying to get in with their MASSIVE lineups.

I doubt we'll ever have an afterhours with those types of bookings again.

at least we have Tribe

All the residents? I hope preach is there because if not FUNK that.

actually I think ill go but im really pissed that Aria is actually closing.

Posted by LiGHT78 on Nov-08-2006 05:10:

Yaaaa they gotta get Preach there.

It's ARIA! Preach has gotta play there once more.

So are they going to just rent out the place, or is the building closed for good?

It's amazing how much you can get attached to a place. Everytime that I pass that place I will always say to myself that i had some of the best nights of my life there.

For a person who didn't like drinking and mixing edm. Aria was a godsend. Plus unlike most of the clubs in the U.S Aria had its own charecter. After the close of Sona, Aria represented all the unique and wonderfull things that I loved about the afterhour scene in Montreal. I could always bring friends up there and have them be blown away by the scene. Sadly most of what I loved about the montreal scene seems to be dying. I'm debating abandoning the club scene altoghether and just attending massives after dec 2nd. Then again I don't know if thats possible with my addiction to EDM but the death of these two clubs will definitely afftect my descision to go out.

wow it has been a little while since i have been on the mtl thread, this is really sad. i would have to say i was pretty sad when the original sona closed, and to see this happen is right up there with that...... i will always remember nye 2004, sven vath, and you gotta love PREACH!!!

Posted by Caela on Nov-09-2006 05:03:

awwwwwww....

yeah i definitely expected aria to have a NYE bash...closing of a year, closing of a club, it's more complete that way.

i'm really doubtful if i'll be able to make it up. it's too bad. had a lot of great times there...but we'll have a lot more great times at new places too.

Dan, I obviously cannot make it out for this event.. so you will have to party for me too. (unless I skip Josh Wink and come for this, but that is unlikely)

Man, I knew this day would come eventually but it is sad for Aria to go. Sasha Labour Day weekend 2003 was the first time I stepped foot into Aria, the first time I stepped foot into ANY afterhours club period.
The vibe, the people, the club itself was simple . I have always put Aria in my top clubs having been to and am really sad that I won't be able to make it for the closing party. It is too bad they didn't have the closing party on NYE with Preach playing there (although he is at Silver).

So many memorable nights there and so many good times had.
Hell, that is where I met and partied with most of you guys for the first time ever. I can honestly say, I have never had a bad time at Aria ever out of all the times I have been.

I suppose all good things must come to an end eventually whether we like it or not. Good luck with whatever you pursue next Biggy!

I'd love to be there, but it'll hurt me, so -1 from me.

Wow, this is sad news. I dont' go up to party in MTL that often, but when I did, Aria was always at the forefront of my list. There were many memorable nights, but probably one of the best nights of my life was there, with no big names, and residents. I'll remember that night forever. Its sad to see such a historic venue closing.
Won't ever forget Aria.

Posted by Marcus007 on Nov-13-2006 20:17:

Marcus will be there.

Posted by asfdz on Nov-13-2006 21:11:

I really want to go....
If I come up that weekend I will try to stop in for a little bit.
If it's really their last night, I have to go

Posted by clubberinmtl on Nov-14-2006 08:50:

TICKETs + FLYERs

Please note that both tickets and flyers will be made this weekend. I will keep you posted on the lineup....

Expect a lineup of all the people who made Aria what it was, one of the best underground afterhours in the city of Montreal. It's sad that it is closing, but the final party will be a testament to a good time that was had by many over the years...

As a supporter and client, I have seen the best and worst of the place. I have chosen to help close down the place as a final LAST CALL of sorts. So I urge you to let everyone know that Dec2 is the night to dance, a final farewell dance to a club that never ceased to amaze!

Thanks to JFL, the staff, and the promoters who made it happen!

DanceHard,
ClubberInMtl

Preach?

Yes or no?

Posted by DK Man on Nov-14-2006 17:26:

Classics

What I would really like would be some classic set during that night. A Classic Trance, Classic electro, you know what made Aria what it was beetween 2001-2005! Plus there are great locals that could give justice to the Aria closing.
