I'm tempted to put down some money for Adelaide but the returns aren't that great. Only $2.50. Anyone already put down a bet and if you have, how much and what are the odds?

Posted by Paulie on Feb-16-2007 06:02:

My bet is South Melbourne will still have 4 more national championships than the plastic that is Victory!

Posted by PauLie_C on Feb-17-2007 06:18:

my bet is that sth melbourne are no longer in the top flight so who gives a flying fuck about the past

FRED

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Feb-18-2007 22:08:

i saw the highlights of the first half on SBS, and all i could think was how second-rate australian football looks.

Posted by 00soups00 on Feb-18-2007 22:41:

that grandfinal was disgracefully boring.

yay melbourne won 6-0, hardly does anything for the spectacle of the sport. Melbourne only went from 7th to 1st this year because they bought a whole lot of older players from overseas. Doesnt show anything about developing good soccer players in our own country.

the match was boring as hell, and it was laughable when the SBS commentator said that the scenes of this grandfinal had similarities to the Champions League final.

Posted by christos on Feb-18-2007 22:51:

"Say hello to my little FRED" lol

loved the game, was such a sight to see some of the players i used to support many moons ago at bob jane, playing to a crowd of 55k+....awesome!

How typical

Why can't people accept that soccer is finally taking over here, the way it should be!!!

The crowd attendance speaks for itself!

Well done Victory!

Crowd looked fantastic and was well up for it! Happy i ended up staying home due to the heat and i also had to send a fax to berlin that was quite urgent. Well done to Fred and Archie on Epic Games!

Would be good to see the game quicken up a bit and for other states to take a note of Melbourne's passion and commitment from a city perspective. That way it may help attract oveseas players and young ones to play the game.

Onwards and upwards from here i think

one of the most important documents of our lives i think.......

and anita, my opinions arent 'typical' of an aussie who is resisting the change of soccer in our life. I like going to the soccer, i support premier league and also play indoor soccer. I just felt that the match yesterday was boring and very much an anti-climax, which was a shame.

The Adelaide vs. Newcastle and also Adelaide vs. Melbourne matches previous were very exciting and great spectacles for the game, however i felt the GF failed to deliver int he same capacity.

6-0 haha....
Nice goin fellas, talk it up. Maybe that billboard should have been posted over here haha.

You mean they were sucessful partly because they acted like a professional sporting outfit? Part of developing good players in any code soups is a balance between experienced players & new raw talent. A key to the development of any sportsman/woman is generally through some form of mentorship so having 'older players from overseas' can only be a good thing for the development of soccer players 'in your own country'.

As a Victory supporter i don't think you could ask for much more. After a month of looking less than powerful, it was even more of a surprise in some ways - but the best teams stand up on the big occasions.

The atmosphere inside the Dome was once again fantastic. Bring on 07/08

Posted by charlee on Feb-19-2007 10:12:

What a great game It was nice to see the Victory get out in front early with recent games being such nail biters.

The heat was certainly not an issue and I can safely say that being at the game is 10 times more exciting than sitting at home.

There is nothing negative to be said about the Victory's win

After beers, burgers and half eaten souva's I was well and ready for bed at 11pm last night.

I am so glad that the A-League came to Telstra Dome

Posted by MiSSyM on Feb-19-2007 13:31:

yay go Melbourne. we are the best.

Posted by PauLie_C on Feb-26-2007 23:37:

bad news for fellow Victory Supporters

Star midfielder Fred and Victory No 1 Goalkeeper Michael Theoklitos are both off to Europe according to an inside source.

This is probably the reason why the Victory signed the new keeper and aso have yet to release kristian Sarkies.

sad sad news

Posted by charlee on Feb-26-2007 23:51:

*Puts Dean on suicide watch*

I love Kristian Sarkies, I hope he stays
