I was excited to see Tiesto again. I have worn out my copy on ISOS 5 Disk 1. Hell he could have popped that CD in and hit play and I would have been happier with it then I am with his set on Saturday.

Lets be honest, I do not know what he has lost in his live sets, passion, love for performing, his mind, (take your pick) but he HAS lost something!

I will not go over all the valid points that Mattivi has already made in response to your statements about Tiesto and the direction his sets have taken.

With that said you apparently do not love Tiesto as much as the next person, because you are unfairly bashing his set @ Bang. Micro-analyzing anything can easily lead to unfounded criticism, and I find that people love to do so when it comes to big name DJs like Tiesto, AVB, PVD and Ferry. So you are not happy with every track he played, every mix he did, every second of the set, well then too bad so sad, go to another stage and listen to something else. Tiesto was not just playing for you, and the overwhelming majority of people that heard him @ Bang loved his set. Some of my friends hate trance, and were there for some of his set, and liked it. They all said Tiesto is not just the "cheesy" trance DJ he has been labeled as, instead he is "diverse" and understands change and diversity is good.

I mean you like the commercial crap that is ISOS 5 and want him to play that crap (CD 1 much less) at a festival???? Are you kidding us or are you just crazy?? That says it all, you are clueless as that is the last thing anyone wants to hear from Tiesto live @ a festival. Maybe ISOS 5 is good at bedtime, but not at a festival.

Contrary to your opinion Tiesto has not lost anything in his live sets when he plays in MIA where he is doing fine (Mansion conference set and Bang ). At Bang he was so into it, not just standing there like a robot like other DJs do, and the crowd fed off his energy. I just can't wait to see him again, especially at conference. Maybe Tiesto lost you, and if so, so be it. To each his own.

well said ive always felt that what really set tiesto apart from the rest was his diversity, the man loves to experiment with his musik and the way he puts the set together. even tho he doesnt play the same brand of musik he used too, he still keeps that essence of trying to take u on a journey. he's not great all the time, but who is. and ISOS5 at an outdoor festival would not be congruent.

I on the other hand was really digging all that techy sound he was playing in the beginning, he was definetly adapting some of the sound that other, believe it or not, progressive DJ's have thrown into their peak times on their sets.. and Tiesto seemed to pick some of that harder, edgier sounds.. which I personally liked. Maybe because Ive embraced the techno-minimal - progressive sound lately?!?! perhaps.. AS to the direction he took... I didnt study he's set tbh, I was having fun. The Dance 4 life track has something that really had everyone going nuts, I dont dislike the track compared to having to listen to the Adagios for Strings .. but having said that, I think he had it. It was a different Tiesto though, tougher on the tracks, edgier, and a lot of stuff I dont rreally know. The point that dropped me back to earth though, was Rui Da silva track.. never liked it, and the repetition on the radio and sets just made me hate it, but besides that.. it was all good. Not a set that I would go WoW best set Ive ever heard, but definetly one of the best stuff I heard on Bang!

For anyone who is interested, YouTube has a bunch of clips from Bang. Alot of Tiesto and Daft Punk ones R included and some are not bad.

I loved Tiesto's set at Bang. We were in front of him the majority of his set and then we were backstage on the side of him. If you saw how much he was into his set and the fans you wouldn't say that he's lost anything. I couldn't stop smiling because he couldn't stop looking so happy. I love it when he's like that. Best set I've ever heard from him? No. Great interaction and good time overall? Definitely

Duran Duran kicked ass, but Bang being behind schedule on the live stage and starting them late sucked. For me Duran Duran was the main headliner and it was just ridiculous how far behind everything was. I could have went without hearing Modest Mouse. They had no energy whatsoever.

We had a good time and I'm glad we went early so that we could catch Edgar, Markus and everyone else.

That was a Great nite ! Cant stop watching all the diffrent ways people videotaped the different acts!

aI've seen some great tiesto sets, and some awful ones. was this one of the best ones? no... was it one of the best ones i've seen in recent times, yes... I can hate on tiesto all the same as any of you, but i give credit where it is due

and there is no denying:

whether you love him, or hate him... you can't stop talking about him

I wish someone got a recording of Tom De Neef however. That was the best suprise of the evening for me. What an awesome, energetic set.

Jan de Vos dropping Gamemaster at the end of the night was quite a suprise as well. Although, hardly the best set I've seen from 4 strings it was pretty good for the 1 hour that he got.

The Hype MC that was on the stage with Jan however, pissed me off. The guy wouldn't stop flappin' his gums for one second. He even talked during the climax of Delerium - Silence and during the build up to Gamemaster. Totally killed the vibe for me, of course that whistle bitch was in the crowd as well just to twist the dagger of annoyance.

Gamemaster, how could I forget.

Shit was OG.

This was the first music festival in Miami I've gone to, I really enjoyed all the different house/trance artists.

I don't really understand the point of 100 people blowing whistles at the same time during the sets though. Do they do that because they're on crack/acid, or because it's supposed to 'add' to the music? I almost elbowed some kid in the face because he was blowing one of those things right in my ear. Was just wondering if this is some sort of tradition at events like this, can somebody fill me in?

Otherwise a great experience and I'm looking forward to Ultra.. anybody else have pictures to post from Bang?

Right you are AMBS

To prove that point, do you know Tiesto has his own line of Sneakers with Reebok. lol

And I think the people who bring the whistle are confusing a music festival with a soccer game or something.

Posted by cmay119 on Nov-19-2006 19:35:

They were candy kids. They were all hopped up on extacy.

I'm with you on the reaction to the whistle, very annoying and killed the vibe on a lot of the sets I heard because of those idiots.

They weren't even trying to be melodic with the whistle, just random blowing.

If you go to an European festival.. more like the UK ones, you hear the same horns as the ones you hear on the stadiums.. I think those bring a better vibe though.

Picture P. Diddy in the booth at Pacha in Ibiza.. blowing on a damn whistle for a good 5-6 songs..

Just when you thought his presence could not ruin a party more.. he throws a whistle in his mouth...

I am glad to read that everyone enjoyed Daft Punk as much as I did when I saw them in the summer.. I had gone in thinking I would enjoy them.. but was blown out of the water by the magnitude of their show...
