What is the name of this tune?

This year is definiately the year for Funky House Music. I really think Funky House Music will really take off in 2007 with more 80's sythn-pop remixes.

As far as Trance wise, the big guys like Armin and Ferry are doing okay. It really the new middle class such as Kyau vs Alber, Stoneface and Terminal, Menno De Jong, Sean Tyas, Robert Nickson, Thomas Datt, Thomas Bonzwaez pushing the new Trance sounds. And lets not forget Airwave who did a 3 cd album this year and as well as 2 singles for velvet girl. Big props for Airwave, keep the melodic progressive scene alive. As far as Progressive Trance, meh.

And finally lets not forget Topher Jones and Blake Jarelle bootleg of Chasing Cars. Big Props to both of you guys. Awesome remix....

The cringe worthy moment for me!

Hearing people singing along to it made me leave the floor.

Hope not so, 2006 was the worsest year for house since it was invented. Always liked house, but I think I bought only 1 house tune this year and that was in january. Hope that this fuckinn funky house is going to die soon, so we can concentrate on well-made house tunes with good vocals, pianos & organs!!!!

But no problem everything apart from house was fine this year in EDM.

Hmm.. really curious to see him this Friday.. Never really been into him but as my tastes broadened significantly over the past few months, it might just go down very well.

Neo-trance is an offshoot of the 'minimal' techno camps that bares similarities to what trance sounded like in the early 90s. Simple, loopy, hypnotic stuff that is concerned about creating atmosphere rather than bludgeoning you with big synths and redundant breakdowns.

Oh I've read about neo-trance on here before, just didn't think anyone took it seriously.

Exactly, just another attempt to pigeon-hole a growing phenomenon!

Where does that name come from anyway?

I checked out some of the stuff Cobalt posted, I must admit I'm very much into it and I see a bright future there.

Without pigeon-holing, it cannot become a bandwagon, and if it doesn't become a bandwagon, people can't try to be cool and say they were into it before it went mainstream

It is a really stupid label, but really, what's the alternative? "Epic minimal"?

Neo's just the new nu. You'll soon be seeing neo-electro, neo-techno (technically, there already is with neo-Detroit), neo-step (neurofunk?), neo-core, and progressive-neo.

Probably not.

Don't forget Mister Neo... or was that from nu-Matrix?

That track came out in 2004 and if you don't have specific examples to back up a point, your point is worthless.

The year I became "jaded", picky and incredibly critical of every DJ I saw play out. The result of that has had it's pluses and minuses. Unfortunately, more minuses. There have been plenty of times where I wish I could've just let the smallest off-beat transition slide, but it's just bugged me so much.

That's unfortunate. There are plenty of things that bug me way more than a slightly off mix. In fact, a slightly off mix is the low on the list of things a Dj can do wrong in my mind.

Unless they are all off and more that slightly, I'm fine with a couple shifty mixes.

Posted by psymon.d on Dec-24-2006 18:14:

as this was the first year I have really become involved with trance, I'd have to say I've enjoyed it quite a lot. Howeeeeever, listening to a 2004 Mix I heard more great tracks strung in a row than I have this year--different styles have you, but still. Overall, I really enjoyed this year though.
