let me assure you Beckham is well worth the money.
that 250 mil will be banked off of "Bend It Like Beckham 2"
...don't think it won't happen.
and for the idiots that think LA Galaxy is paying that money, GTFO. There's endorsements involved. I heard the guy that produces American Idol went in on the deal too. This is not just a purchase of his soccer skills, it's more of a marketing move for the whole city of LA.

If Beckham sucks in the MLS, than it's all his own fault. I hope he does because he's a puto

i won't watch it
Right. This is about the 3rd time I'm saying the same thing all over again. LOL
Becks = attention whore
There is no such thing as a bad PR.
MLS is actually making money (though probably not much)
Becks+PR=MLS make more money = more investment and improvement of league in future + attract better foreign players
Yeah Becks is overrated but so what. He's only 31 and he can still kick the ball into the net and make goalies look dumb standing there. His long ball skills also is good. (Not that many MLS strikers can do much)
Yanks also have a lot of kids who actually play footy in local leagues. (Heck, even Canadian kids play footy) There are millions of them.
Some of them, however misguided they might be thinking Becks is cool, might pursue footy after high school. Some might even turn out to be really damn good and end up playing for US national team. (Which isn't too bad, and has some good players)
Add some decent coaching staff and the odds are, you might get some good players out of millions of kids.
Toronto just got an MLS team (so originally named Toronto FC) and I think I might actually go to a few games.
So footy gets more popular in North America.
I don't see nothing wrong with that at all.

talking about the mls... i sign up to be a ball boy for the AA team of the mls...
sad but its the only place id be able to watch footy and what not. so i said fuck it hehehe
atlanta silverbacks start this season... they are like AAAAAA team of independiente so thats nice. or maybe not
I think Gary Lieneker's got it right with this interview:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sol/ukfs_spor...storyid=6253673
I also think ALOT of it has to do with Victoria wanting to be in that movie with Tom Cruise. The whole thing smacks of celebrity stuff. And know you'll get these middle-aged mums in the UK with their Starbucks Tall Skinny Dry sugar-free, extra-shot lattes wanting to move to LA.
And for those of you who are wondering about 90210, yes, that's apparently where they're moving to, so they'll be near the Osbournes and Simon Cowell

isn't that for 12 year olds only?
It now seems like Ronaldo and Figo will also move over to the US
| quote: |
| Sources reveal that Beckham wants to leave a legacy in the US, long after his playing career is over with. Beckham is determined to put American soccer on the map, and having his name associated with a team could do wonders. He's already convinced Real Madrid teammate Ronaldo to join him in the MLS next season. Ronaldo will be joining the New York Red Bulls in the summer, and another European footballer, Luis Figo, is arranging a move to the MLS. |
OMG it's the attack of the putos!
Figo is already arranged to move to Qatar (or is it Saudi Arabia?) at the end of the season - so no, I don't believe he'll move to the USA. Especially considering your news source, sorry.

What is so amusing about it ?
There are rumors that it could happen period
Check Google News if you want.
If Posh and Becks are moving to 90210...then it definitely wreaks of a publicity stunt.
If I were them, I don't think I'd be so keen on moving directly into the voyeur hub of the country...especially with my kids. I'd probably choose a local a little less inconspicuous.
But yeah...I think the popularity of professional soccer (football) was due to blow up eventually in the US. I'm only talking about New England here, but it's HUGE in primary education. I played rec league for 8 years, and every Sunday, the ENTIRE town pretty much would all drive to the high school and watch the little kids play on mini-fields. Hmm...good times
