Wow, great thread. I'm reorganizing my collection as we speak....
MY mp3 collection format:
Music is organised by artist (obviously), with cover art in each folder, if available.
artist - release - track no/side - track name (mix/edit) [label, year] (track key, camelot code, bpm)
These shots were taken this time last year. Now that my collection is *nearly* up to date and HUGE, I keep everything in seperate genre folders, because I had nearly 900 artists in the one folder and it was getting crowded. Now I have around 50-250 artist folders per genre, with very wide genres.
Techno, Trance, Progressive, Tech-House, House, Electro-House, Psy-Trance, Disco and "Other", which contains Hip-Hop, Ambient etc.
My CDs get archived in a box after they are ripped to the computer and basically never get seen again.
Same as most - chronologically sort the CD's burned, 8 tracks per CD.
Recently i've been getting longer set times at club with new pioneers, so i am making full use of the mp3 playing feature, to burn & spin mp3 CD's for my newer tunes that i didnt find time to burn onto regular audio CDs.
I organize my cd's in a 200cd wallet. No real order, I just label my cd's 1,2,3 etc. and place a track listing page in front of the cd as shown below.
What do you guys think of that label? Anything you would add/remove? Other templates would be appreciated. Thanks.
what's the best way to take an ID tag from one field and write it to another field? Mediamonkey analyzed track volume for all tracks, but I don't think it's available to see in Traktor.
