Man I couldn't disagree with you more on this one. The beginning of disc one just feels like it's all over the place to me.

Indeed.

No, you're right. I finally listened last night, and there were a few moments where I was cringing at what I was hearing.

It's not quite my cup o' tea, but I still simply don't get what the huge deal is about this thing. Maybe it's because I listened to it right after One + One, and maybe it's because of that transition early on in disc one that just completely ignores any concept of harmonic mixing, but I still didn't finish the two of them thinking nearly as highly of them as a lot of people here. The second disc was a lot better than the first, IMO, but the whole thing just wreaks of 'meh' to me.

Honestly I don't find the first transition "shitty" as some have been saying.

Can anyone please explain WHY it's shitty?

It sounds odd and off beat to me.

It just doesn't sound like a good mix.

I wasn't referring to the very first one...it's the 2nd or 3rd, I think.

not to mention it's not phrased the best imo. makes me wonder if he did it like that on purpose.

not to say that disc two is bad or anything... because it's certainly not. i love both discs, but out of the two, disc one is the one that i feel has a much more fluid structure to it. just the way it progresses and builds from beginning to end is like sex.

but i suppose its all a matter of personal preference.

i agree in some respects because disc 2 just starts bangin right off the bat, which i liked in a way, but it started to get a little more mellow towards the end and imo that doesn't make sense. reverse orgasm i guess.

different dj's like different flows, gonna pick this up tonite

Posted by luisjb82 on Apr-11-2007 02:05:

Well, I listened to disc 2... it's great but I'm kind of wondering about the flow of this one. It started so great, very banging upbeat, club type and then it turned more proggy in the middle and in the end I just got lost in the mix, could not feel it at all.

I will give it a few more listens and see what's up.

Overall, I liked first one the most.

Posted by Tangil on Apr-11-2007 09:10:

Yeah the mixing at the start of cd 1 is average, what did Luke Fair mix this with?

Balance 011

The mix is amazing... The whole CD is so atmospheric and journesque... combines all the best elements of house music!!

perhaps for you!

honestly though, i listened to this a few more times.. still not feelin it. though i agree with your comment on the progression of disc 1, after a few more listens, it's definitely much better thought out than disc 2. however the first 15-20 minutes of disc 1 is still horrendous.. i guess it's just not my style. myra i see why you enjoy it more though, it's more your style imo..

balance 011 gets omega_b's "meh" of indifference.

all in all, the tracklist didn't look that impressive before hearing the mix, and after listening to both discs, i'm still not feelin it. it actually reminds me of the desyn masiello balance 008 hype. everyone was orgasming over it and when i listened to it, i just thought "meh." perhaps the genre(s) just isn't my style. don't get me wrong, you can tell some of the mixes luke did was really well thought out, but other times it just feels like he throws two tracks together.. didn't like the flow... meh.

+1

I think this release was really over hyped. It has it's moments, but comparing it to GU13 and the likes... .

I dont know why I'm not really feeling the mix, I guess I'm "diggin" a different sound right now. Give me those evil basslines please .

Maybe in a couple months I'll give it another play.

I must purchase this, he's been on fire lately! He'll be in Vancouver again (2nd time in 4 months)!
