New Zealand v Sri Lanka, Super Eights, Grenada

What do you guys think ?

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first

New Zealand 59/2 (17.0 ov)

What do you guys say??????

Thought yesterday's game was a great one. Good to see Sri Lanka doing well, especially again New Zealand. At least 3 of my teams are in the semis. Now to see the race between Sotuh Africa and England.

Posted by Trance Nutter on Apr-13-2007 12:27:

Was surprised Sri Lanka managed to restrict NZ so low without Malinga. They must have a good back up bowler to fill in for him (also having Vaas and Murali sure helps).
Very well played by the Sri Lankans I think, did the job in the field and then just paced themselves perfectly in the chase.

Posted by Trance Nutter on Apr-13-2007 13:54:

ooooooooo thats gotta hurt!
Ireland 8/3

We all knew which way this game was gonna go, but it could be over real soon if Ireland aren't careful.

Case in point, its now
Ireland 12/4

LOL

Thats poor SL

Resting Vaas and Murali with Malinga already out. Try to win the game, go for the top spot. Don't rest your players against top teams just because you've qualified for the semi's. Rest against the lower teams that you can beat easily, but try to beat the top teams for glory. Thats poor in my book.

Posted by Ian on Apr-16-2007 14:02:

it's a very clever move mate, murali hurt himself in the last game, and this would allow the other spinner some match practice knowing both teams are qualified.

After austarila's win today, i think once again the World Cup is going to go to the Team in yellow.

Helloooooooo ,Isnt cricket supposed to be really exciting game where till the last momment you dont know what team will win.

Here it seems like everything is already decided.

Posted by ilia on Apr-18-2007 11:59:

Yesterday's game was one that a lot of people were watching due to it deciding the last place in the semi's, but once South Africa held down England for such a low score I just turned off the tv as I knew what the result would have been.

Looking forward to the New Zealand vs Australia match in a few days.. that will be a matter of pride for that one.

And now Lara decides to retire. The Windes are going down the tube.

Posted by ilia on Apr-21-2007 14:19:

Do you think that the Windies can beat England today?

Or will Lara's last game be a loss for the Windies...?

Posted by Trance Nutter on Apr-21-2007 15:16:

yeah WI can beat England. And I hope they do, mainly cos I want Lara to go out on a high and for England's sake I want them to lose. They only way they can truly go forward is without any success for their administrators to cling on to (eg CB series after the Ashes shellacking)

They've started pretty well too.

Lara in at number 3, good to see. Was really hoping he'd do that rather than number 6.

Posted by Trance Nutter on Apr-24-2007 14:51:

Thanks Channel 9.

Cos no one would be interested in the Semi of the World Cup would they? No, lets put on the crappy late night quizshow instead, a sure fire winner

Especially considering that Australia has the biggest Sri Lankan and New Zealander populations outside of those countries (or so i've been told)

poor form

Posted by UmmiE on Apr-24-2007 18:16:

Dunno

What do you guys think after SL made 289 ?

Posted by Trance Nutter on Apr-25-2007 00:38:

Dunno

my prediction is NZ will fall short, probably about 207-209ish

Shame, would have liked to see them in the final, but to be honest they probably aren't good enough, I think Sri Lanka are a worthy adversary

Posted by UmmiE on Apr-25-2007 06:03:

I really cant wait to see the next two games ..........

Posted by Trance Nutter on Apr-28-2007 14:00:

big one tonight!

Australia have won the toss and will bat.

All signs point to a good match

Watch out for McGrath, last match ever, end of an era for sure

Ricky Ponting: "We're going to have a bat first. The wicket, ah, looks nice with a bit on top. The team's up and ready. We've been looking forward to this moment for a long time. Aw, there will be a few nerves, but we've got a lot of experienced guys there. It's a big day for them."

Mahela Jayawardene. "Ah, it looks pretty flat for me. We were thinking of batting first but after seeing the conditions we were unsure what to do. I am happy losing the toss, basically! It's a brilliant atmosphere for us and we're here to have some fun."

India Vs Australia - Tri Series Cup Finals

Arrogant pricks got what they deserved

quote:
MS Dhoni (India captain) and his men have probably accomplished even more. They may have signalled an impending change in the world cricketing order, while wrecking the aura of Australian invincibility

quote:
"The Men in Blue overcame insult and injury, hostility on and off the field from players, spectators and media, on the world's toughest tour against the world's best side"

quote:
"Australian captain Ricky Ponting admitted India outplayed them in the one-day finals. A more graceful captain would also have admitted that India had out-behaved Australia all summer."

Next time..Shut the fuck up beforehand.

GET INNNNNNNN

Posted by Ian on Mar-06-2008 09:19:

you mean again we did it last year in the cb series finals too

it was a good series, we got to see some class from people like Gilchrist, Murali and an increasingly mature player in MS Dhoni. I especially liked watching Sri Lanka, Jayasuriya and Sangakkara are good players to watch and Vaas is an excellent bowler. India have got a younger, hungrier side and I'd love to see them win the next world cup, as a fitting send off to Tendulkar who has been a brilliant ambassador for cricket.
