i just think she uses the word hip bones loosely to mean she is curvy. makes no sense to me since hip bones are the hard pointy things that stick out below ur tummy.

If you guys want to get REALLY technical...the parts of the hip bone you can usually see on really skinny girls are the anterior superior iliac spine (the ones in front near the tummy that Mel was talking about), and the iliac crest (the ones that form the top curve of the hip).

We use those for landmarking when giving an intramuscular injection into the ventrogluteal site.
