id never figure a debate would go this far into a video game haha, if you dont like it great, if you do great too. im just curious on when it will "actually" come out. Prob a good couple years im thinking.
Meanwhile Command And Conquer 3 is out now and has superior graphics to what I've seen of SC2 so far
is c and c3 good? I loved red alert 2 and tiberium sun.

It must surely be a hero unit? It kills like 30 marines, then about 6 battle cruisers. Seems to have about 4 different ways of attacking... |

| What is Spring? Spring is a project to create the best RTS ever (no joke). There are three principle goals which we hope to achieve. Reach a stage where TA Spring can flawlessly execute most of Total Annihilation's original gameplay, with its original units in their original format. Add new features as we see fit, fix bugs, and release new versions when we feel it is appropriate to do so. Support the mod community as we see fit. Improving the already fine original TA Interface in a way that the Players will have more tactical Options, more Control, more Comfort and still don`t get lost, as long as they are willing to learn. The goals might need an update.. -- Tim Blokdijk [edit] Is Spring free? The core game is released under GPL License. Fortunately as of now, there are also two mods which have been released under the GNU/GPL, and several more which do not have clear licence terms (owned by their modder). However, there are also several mods for which some parts are still under copyright of Atari. For these you need to own the original TA game if you want to play. **Large battles limited only by the power of your computer; support for up to 5000 units. |
I heard from a VERY reliable source that this game is going to be sooo good and pwn sooo hard that Baby Jesus (TM) is already crying! Ooooh yeah!
StarCraft was the first game I ever played. I still remember the day I got my Pentium 200, installed the game and whoa! Awesome. *sheds a tear*
I'm gonna have to upgrade my 4 MB graphics card for SC2.

Have you done the Warden strategy with night elf, where you mass moon wells in your base and kill the enemy's army with just your hero? How about buying mercs? how about mass banshees and possess the enemies army? If you think there are not enough strategies, you are sadly mistaken. Noob. |
Well I AM pure shit at the game so trying out any of those strategies will just land me back to the main menu of the game in no time. But seriously, I dont think I am the only one that believes that Warcraft 3 has a limited array of play styles. Town halls are too expensive, and with upkeep, its almost impossible to build outposts unless your main gold mine is completely empty. I remember in WC2, it was normal for a person to have 4-5 gold mines under his control. In WC3, that shit just isnt possible
well, with the new patch installed i can safely and confidently say that supreme commander is the best real time strategy game ever made for the PC. this game is ridiculously good and pushes innovation further than any game of today.
no cheap, shitty rulesets one must memorise in order to be good
proper strategic thinking
supporting of troops
firebases
simulated to-hit physics
massive massive scope
no hard-countering
no rock paper scissors balancing
no silly tech trees that limit tactical choices
awesome (and important) base-building mechancics
infinite cueing
more units than you can poke a stick at- land sea & air
automated transport systems
and lets not forget about the zoom
easily the most rewarding RTS experience ive ever had. so many tactical ways to dominate the battlefield, and you are truly rewarded for gaining map control.
and with the new patch performance is through the roof. CnC3 et al are kiddies games in comparison.
yeah the zoom function is so innovative
But yeah, I hear SC is badass, too bad I don't have the equipment to run it

| Originally posted by pkcRAISTLIN honestly, i dunno man. ran the beta OK on my p4 2.4 1 gig, but im sure with smaller games you should be ok. the CPU is more important than the vid card. i bought a ninja specially for supcom so i cant say how much of an improvement it is, but given the feedback on the forums, the single core people are really impressed with it. borrow the game from someone and check it out |

| Originally posted by pkcRAISTLIN actually, given its addition to gameplay then yeah, it really is innovative. name another RTS that has such a scale & scope with such an accurate zoom. its the first game to do so, so that makes it innovative in itself. well, that depends. the new patch greatly improves performance for middle and low end users. |
When I play other RTSs the first thing I notice is the sucky zoom features.
