anything big trance-related coming to atlanta before tiesto in september???

oh nice! would definitely go out to see acosta... he usually makes pretty good cd compilations... must admit i've never seen him live though (nor heard any liveset).

I had tickets but at last I didn't make it out last night. Plus my parnter in crime wasn't there

Sounds like the only thing I miss was Ligaya and maybe the karaoke of Junk

Until next time b*tches

lol

Guess I'm glad I didn't try to sneak in on this one

Posted by A1C on Jun-14-2007 16:15:

Wow, I'm amazed at how little a lot of clubs put into their sound systems, especially on the level of Eleven50. They go cheap on their sound designers and then, they hire an ass backwards sound engineer with no clue on how to phase align the speakers or EQ the overall system....If your bass is distorting, then the system was not EQed properly..

People always complained about the old E50 system, which wasn't the best, but it was passable... It was never properly EQed either....lol

Wish we could see some pics of the new layout

How are the lights? Any improvement there?

Big mistake not getting a monster soundsystem. Give people enough credit to know when they are hearing a quality system and they will come back.

I would have liked to hear Glass Garden if it is the Ronski Speed mix and Fire because it's a Duran Duran remix.

ferry's set was kinda lame...he played the same electro sound the whole time with way too many breakdowns...there were some sick ones tho

i spent the whole time on my phone trying to get a tracklist...too bad there are way too many ID's

some tracks that i caught:

Sonorous - glass garden
Ferry Corsten - Junk
Breakfast - The Sunlight (JPL remix)?
some zombie nation remix?
Ferry Corsten - Fire
Bedrock - Heaven Scent
a sensation theme for first encore

it wasn't that packed but the crowd was going nuts the whole time

my review sucks but i had a good time...ears are ringing no doubt

i suck for missing life less ordinary and for not meeting any of you

Where were you? I was mainly around my brother who was doing his glowsticking thing. For a while I was the one sitting on the stage in the burgundy Ferry shirt and jeans I had to sit since Nasir's set was incredibly monotone.

One improvement I really did manage to enjoy about the new 1150. The glass dividing walls and barriers, namely the ones for the balcony/second story. Sooooo many upskirts that night. Some of them were even unintentional.

Two of 'em! One being magnificently venerable.

My overall conclusion:

1150 >>>>> Opera

SAD! When will Atlanta get a decent engineer for their clubs...

They could still improve it though. Maybe I'm being a little harsh considering it was one of the first nights it was even open. The sound system is the main thing they need to get sorted. The whole ticket confusion and time when doors open deal could easily be solved and hopefully will be next time around. That fucking sound system though, there were literal incidents of white noise. That's right, STATIC coming out LOUDLY from the speakers. Initially I thought it'd be the fog machines, but then no fog came out (which was funny when the fog actually did come out and I thought it was the speakers again )

And could they fix the fucking A/C?!

Jesus hell.

The new interior design shows some real promise. A nice, bigger floor and the two new larger bars are a real plus. That club could be done so much better.

When the sound system has all its kinks worked out next when Billy gets ahold of it you will see a MAJOR improvement. Opera definitly has some kinks to work out with a few things and #1 being the sound. The entire system is being reconfigured next week by a new guys and it will definitly thump after that. I think they rushed to fast to open and wasn't 100% ready. Never the less there is a lot of potential there and once the kinks are ironed out it will be a great space.

Oh and just so some of you know i have a new announcement that i will add in here that i just go the contracts on....

Friday August 3rd - Sasha @ WETbar!!!!!!!!!

Thats another thing, they have all new A/C in there but one half of the thing went out yesterdday afternoon. Like i said definitly some kinks to work out.

We opened late due to these sound issues.

alllll right Devin, you better be right about that sound. Any idea why the doors opened so late? I remember seeing you rushing to set up the podium, I was the first in

oh snap...wow that's gonna be SICK

I didn't think the sound at Opera was that bad, if you don't mind getting slammed by bass in front of the line of speakers. :
It's just kind of a turnoff when you go back down to the main floor and the difference in sound volume is that much...I think the mass of bodies up there is acting as a cushion. A bad, ugly cushion.

As for the layout of the club, I think they did a great job in renovations...everything looks really nice. There's more room on the dance floor and the bars are definately in a better spot. Basically, Opera has some nice symmetry going. The only problem I have with the set up is the small step onto the carpeted (nice!) floor on the sides. People are going to bust their ass over that. I like the glass though. Glass is nice. :

As for the stage, it's really high. On the same level as the VIP area up top I'd say. The stage setup at eleven50 was much better in m y opinion. I kinda got vertigo at some point during the night.
*note* No way will Opera have better visuals than eleven50.

The kryo system was awesome though...completely blasted the entire dance floor...sick!

I think Opera accomplished what they were trying to do with the club. Seems like they were trying to give it a historical yet majestic(??) feel to it. Here's my shitty analogy/metaphor. If you're going to put the DJ on top of a pyramid, at least put in sand for the people below.

Anyone got any dirty upskirt pics??

I seem to remember there always being a step, and then there was that large black dividing wall near the exit. The step seemed same ol', same ol' to me. The glass looks nice, I just wonder how long it'll be before people get too drunk, think like a bird, and try to walk through it and then wind up tripping over it

At least they eliminated any possibility of falling off the elevated dance floor's three foot drop towards the back with the new booth.

for getting Sasha on a Friday night.

I'm not sure if I saw you...I was up on the left side of the elevated stage for like the first half of Ferry's set. I was an asian guy wearing jeans and a red express shirt with a group of asians and a really tall white dude. I shouted 'Ferry!' a few times too :

Was your bro like right in front of the speakers?? I did see Samira like standing on the steps up to the booth. I apparently know what you guys look like, thanks online pics.

Anyone see mistiso there?

I think I may have seen you I definitely saw Samira and her friends. My brother was in the black shirt and white UFO's and he was up in front of the speakers for a bit of it. I didn't want to stay up there too long though, I was getting obliterated by them.

Did you see that dude in black standing like literally ON the speakers. He was just chilling and had his HEAD pressed into the speakers. That guy is hardcore.

Yep, there were a few of those. That one incredibly plastic-titted woman whom probably secretes self-lubrication down under seemed to hug the speakers there for a good minute
