Isnt that what most people say when they hear some of the cheesy trance tracks? Lets not judge a book by its cover( in this case the whole genre based on some comercial crap) Secondly why does everyone site lots of fakers listen to it as there excuse for not liking the music? Before you or anyone else judges hip hop or any other music or thing in life for that matter learn what its really about.

I like some rappers and some rap music, but most of it annoys me. Everything from their "bling bling" to their mercedes-benz. Why is it when i see a rap video with cars, the have mercedes. Fine they are nice cars, but stop following other rappers

Why i dislike most rap:
-unoriginal in their bling bling
-takes no skill
-they portray the world as slutty women, money, and more rap

Rap doesnt take that much skill because you just talk fast with a rhythm...

Things i hate:
-nelly and his stupid bandaid Shove that stupid bandaid up your ass
-rappers who say "bling". Lemme take your bling and shove it up your blinger

Posted by Nadi on Jul-20-2002 01:52:

To the guy who posted above me how can u say rapping doesnt involve skill? All the rapers write there own songs. But delivery of them isnt much easier you have to have propper flow if it requiered no skill we would all be millionares rapping bout nothing. Have you ever heard freestlying thats some of the most difficult shit in the world. I suggest you check out eminems freestyling thats some crazy shit. I dont like a lot of eminems comercial shit but he can freestyle like no other.

I totally agree with that, although I cannot stand any commercial hip/hop rap that is out at all. I mean come fucking on, "cadillac grills, cadillac mills, check out the oil my cadillac spills?" I could spit out something better than that.

However I really enjoy underground hip-hop. It's all about being able to rhyme well, and making decent beats that don't all sound the same like TEH CASH MONAY MILLIONAREZZZ!

Posted by Trancer85 on Jul-20-2002 02:26:

l love rap or hip hop whatever u TAs think it is

Posted by gOOD-tRiP on Jul-20-2002 02:42:

well you know the people that produce rap will think why people listen to songs that have no singing or lyrics at all such as electronica music. so its all about taste. i dont like classical or country music but i could understand why others do.

i like it because the lyrics are funny to me, but mainly...the RHYMES!! I like a good fast rhyme, or a slow nice rhyme to the beat.

and I LOVE Eminem. to me, Dre is like one of the best producers, and Em has very good rhymes. (he can freestyle too!!!)

some goodies:

Mr. Pookie - Smoke One
Eminem - Drug Ballad/Criminal/Marshall Mathers
Dr. Dre - Xxplosive

and a new goodie:

Nas - One Mic

i respect ur opinion and all but I CANT STAND EMINEM. sorry just had to get that out. he just rips on people and talks about killing himself so that he can sell records. me and my friend were screwing around last night at like 3 in the morning and we were putting on all his old crappy cds and we started listening to one of his eminem cds and i have to admit the lyrics are catchy, but then we couldnt get the music out of our heads and couldnt fall asleep until we put on some trance to clear our heads

And there in lies the problem everyone gets the wrong impresion of hip hop because thats all they here, however rap really isnt about that shit. What the genre needs is for someone skilled enough as an mc yet real enough to not talk about all the mainstream shit to break out and show the world what hip hop as a music and culture is really about. I think the reason most of the board slams hip hop is the same as most people do to trance they are simply uninformed.

Posted by Mekka Digital on Jul-20-2002 12:31:

Hip Hop is a culture, it has different colors, its diverse and meaningful to people of all around the world. It also lets you bump and grind with ladies, get up on their asses and show them whose the man

Im a huge Tupac fan...sharing a lot of hip hop on DC. Where I come from, Trance is minimal compared to Hip Hop scene, but Electronica Dance music is gaining as clubbers are being more educated of the great abilities of Trance n all other Electronica music. DJ QUIK who recently produced the song "so addicted", the one with the Indian vocals in the backround is my neighbor across the street , my dad listens to that type of indian music, so im thinking he got the idea from him...havent gotten a chance to catch the man to ask him yet.

Posted by netw3rkd on Jul-20-2002 15:22:

i hate those 15 - 16 year old kids like..whatever there names are...little pow wow or something, who start rapping. rap was great years ago, i actually listened to some of it, but now to many new artists are coming out, it all sounds the same, and they do it for the money. i was gonna type a couple paragraphs about it, but i'm off to lunch

Absolutely; it's mostly an image thing or you haven't been turned on to trance music yet (or you think your friends will laugh at you for listening to trance music). I grew up in rough urban areas listening to nothing but hip hop, but rarely listen to it now (most of it is just crap, but there are a few good tunes out there). IMHO only people who really know music can truly appreciate trance music.
For me thats what I'll always remember Napster for; It got me hooked on trance music. Otherwise I'd probably still be listening to the same crap over and over again on radio and MTV.

Posted by Verona^My on Jul-20-2002 16:41:

rap, I dont mind rap if it's set to good music. DJ Bobo, Imperio, Phario, etc. Dont like Hip-Hop at all, way too slow, too much samples, not enough music. If Hip-Hop played sophisticated melodies like Delerium's Semantic Spaces album, I might give it a chance, but as it stands the melodies sound really cheesy to me, like Italodisco of the 80's.

Posted by nate735 on Jul-20-2002 22:01:

why Hip Hop ??? lol thats what most of america is saying about trance music IMO . Hip Hop music is very soothing to the mind. Every now and then i spin hip hop on my decks. I just get sick of listening to trance all the time. Theres nothing wrong with variety. Now the commercial hip hop is shit. But some of the underground stuff is mint. The song that got me into hip hop is Bone Thug's N Harmony & Notorious Big - Notorious Thugs. What a great production. Give hip hop a chance

Posted by Mekka Digital on Jul-20-2002 22:06:

Get these songs if you dont like hip hop or havent heard much...these are underground hip hop and im sharing them on DC.

Brooklyn Academy - Blind Fury
Akrobatik - U got It
C-Rayz Walz - Expand
Nas - Poison <---its from his new LP...must hear. Its not UG but awesome. Also "One Mic" is great.

LOL. It doenst got more closed minded than that folks. There are things outside of trance you guys all know that right? There is even good music outside of it. If you like trance thats fine but dont go around invalidating all other forms of music.

How can you say I'm closed minded when I listened to Rap/Hip-Hop for over 20 years before being converted to trance? I'll bet you are barely 20 years old; how long have you been listening to hip-hop/rap? And I'll bet there are more people on Trance forums who can produce music than there are who can produce hip-hop music. If you are so smart why are you on a Trance Forum and not a Hip-Hop forum? Besides, I NEVER said I don't like hip-hop, I said I rarely listen to it...

Posted by P`zazz on Jul-21-2002 01:54:

I actually got tired of reading through this thread so maybe I'll finish it later. But anyhow, what I would like to add is that it's the attitude of some people that drive someone away from a music genre. I myself love quality trance more than anything else and all I wanna do in my life is spin and produce the music that I love and yet I go to clubs and have fun listening to rap/rnb/garge/hiphop and stuff like that. What I'm trying to say is that I am openminded and enjoy other types of music aswell. One reason why I go to such clubs is because most of my friends are into that kind of music so they take me along with them. The other day I was going to a new club that was gonna be playing trance and I invited my friends. What pissed me off is that we were chilling downtown and everything was fine, until it was time to go. With us was a new guy, a friend invited him, and I he said to my 'best' friend "hey lets go to this club that I just found out about that plays rnb/hip-hop etc". I told my friend "I thought we where going to CLUB D (the new place I was talking about)". He goes (rough translation from greek) "everyone goes to his music" and he just left and stood me up to go with a guy he didn't even know. The next day I explained to him how pissed I was and he wouldn't listen, he would keep dissing trance saying it's to him what daylight is to vampires, and I know many ppl who are like this. This is so lame, it made me hate other kinds of music more, especially rnb, rap etc. Also, another thing that is 100% true is that a great amount of ppl listen to this kind of music because they want to be black, I see them in the club doing westside shiet with their fingers and most of them haven't even been near the place. Some of my friends call them 'Nigg*r wannabes' and I am definately not racist, I just dont like ppl who imitate/try to be someone else.

Posted by CrackedLcd on Jul-21-2002 02:15:

Personally,...Hip hop is what I grew up on...I didn't start listening to trance ultil 1999 when I went to a party that played cheesy atb& etc....I think the beats and the words are realistic...I think of trance as my party music....

Posted by DjDeComp on Jul-21-2002 02:30:

As Trance lovers we must teach these poor people that theres better music than Hip Hop.

Whip them if we have too until they learn

Same here, but it's up to us to teach them that there are other music genres aswell. Nextweek a friend of mine is throughing a b-day party asked me if I can bring the music, I'm planing of queing some tracks on the pc but I think I'm gonna take my TTs some I can play some good trance. Only problem is most of them are into really into rap/rnb and shiet and I'm afraid of getting kicked in the ass

A "challenge"

I have a bit of a challenge for all the people bashing hip hop. Every time someone posts that they dont like hip-hop, I'd like to see them list at least 1 reason why besides "its filled with wiggers". This is a challenge only in the sense that it might be hard for you guys to find a reason. Not because there isnt a reason, but because no one has bothered to give one. Other than wiggers or "trance is better etc".
