| Originally posted by SuperJimbo Beat it, lemming. I meant what I said. I chose not to rip Halliwell, even though that is how I honestly felt - ask anyone who saw me there. Would you have preferred that I tell you how spectacularly boring that I felt his set was? Nothing against the guy, but his antics in the booth and the (predicatable) leap into the crowd were the only redeeming parts of his set, IMO. There, are you happy now? Have I fulfilled your arbitrary, commissioner mandated threshold of what is acceptable to post in a review thread and what is not? I'm thrilled most other people had a great time. Honestly. Good for you/them. The vids look amazing. But like I said, Carlo and Nathan TOTALLY saved the night for ME. And at least 4 other people I was hanging out with. The Roaches were stellar, as always. So deal with it. |
My review:
I personally Liked the night. Great set, His energy level at the begining was calm but then he kicked it up a notch. My only problem was when he played that Tiesto cheese crap. Wish I could have stayed till the end.
If you are going to see Eddie for his mixing skills well then you are definately not going to have an enjoyable night. Eddie is a maniac on the decks.....he has more energy then almost any dj....and its not showmanship energy or praise me energy...its pure "I love what I do energy". Sure the crowd surfing is showmanship that I don't like.....just like the Jesus pose.
Eddie always brings the hard banging beat with him....and just enought slow fluffy stuff to let you catch your breath before he takes your breath away again.
I am so upset that I missed him on Saturday....it was a last minute decision not to go because of a headache I was fighting all day....I almost went but when I couldn't see straight because my head was so sore I decided....probably not a good idea to drive to Toronto to hear ear bleeding thumping bass when you have a headache.

Super late review but...WOW
By far the best live DJ i've seen...this man is a maniac...I was in the front the whole time while he was on other than being on the left side of the DJ booth...I put my hand up to give him a high five and he looked at me like wtf?!? then he turned around and wham HIGH FIVE VERY NICE and then got to chat with him for a minute up at the skybar after his set fucken sick
Highlight of the night: being in the mosh pit and catching Eddie when he jumped off the stage...I was fucken peaking
10/10
Now let's get ready for Ferry tomorrow nite at the Skybar

Who's that sketchbag in the FIGO jersey...lol
Better late than never.
I'm going to keep this short.
Eddie Halliwell @ the GUV is easily one of my most favourite events so far. The night was SO much fun. The renovations, this time around, were awesome (from the minute I walked into the main room and saw the new laser system I was impressed). I partied with a lot of really great ppl (including two of my best clubbing buddies): there were a bunch of familiar faces as well as various randoms with whom I had a great time. Eddie's set was incredible: I could say sooo much about his performance, track selection, and so on but let me just comment on a few things--> his energy on the decks is unmatched, his interaction with the crowd was amazing, and his appreciation for what he does and the music itself was evident to all. This was the first time I had been so engrossed in a DJ's set that I did not think about the fact that the DJ would be spinning only for a limited amount of time until that time had actually come to an end. Finally, my interaction with Eddie was a fucken incredible experience: the autograph, pictures, and various conversations were so memorable--I've never experienced that sort of friendliness with a DJ, it was so great.
This event is definitely amongst my list of top parties.
As always, it was an absolute pleasure partying with all you guys.
