i am in jasper, AB (canadian rockies) for the summer and I jog in the mountain trails around the city..best jogging ever with the view and stuff...it's hard as hell though...

I dont know if someone mentioned this but dont be fat. Running is hard and every oz you weigh extra is an extra pound you move every 8 steps.

I used to run a solid 7-10 miles easily and I weighed 155 at 6'1. at 192 it was 1 mile and I was glad I was done. Tone down and start of jogging.

Also, it takes 15-20 to really warm up so first 10 sucks, get over it

Naked? Your not that guy that runs the length of the country in the scud and wears a backpack are you?

i'm not a runner, but i think (as someone has mentioned before) that an ipod or some mp3 player would definitely help the running experience!

Eh, I used to run with my ipod but it got tiring. I got annoyed of holding it (yes, I know there are little arm pouches) and I got annoyed by the cords from the head phones getting in the way. I got to the point where I much prefer running without them, just hearing good ol' nature and cars and Mexican men showering themselves so loud that you hear it in the street since they leave their windows wide open and love to blare salsa music.

Yep, I'm old timey!

Posted by The_G0dfather on Jun-06-2007 21:59:

i run, without the mexicans though

Posted by miamitrance04 on Jun-06-2007 22:07:

one word:

Music, I put on some Tommy Sunshine and away i go

Same here, I can't stand earphones when I'm running, plus cords are annoying as well.

I usually run in the dark. I'm a vampire and cold sweat is awesome >_>. My motivation for running in the dark is not running in the blazing sun.

that'll motivate me too!

for motivation, i pretend a black man who wants to rape me is chasing me. (you should see his eyes)

My brother has a website called RunningAhead.com, and it allows users to track their performance in a log. Check out a sample log here: http://runningahead.com/logs/259c56...512f715ed2ff6c7

His site has the best features available for a running log and everything is free and free of ads. You'll find many experienced runners and some very hardcore runners (2000 mile club ) willing to offer advice. Many people have cited running logs as a great motivational source. Great site for anyone serious about training so check it out!

just start doing it. running is like crack. after the first couple weeks, you really just start feeling good and you really start feeling a need to go run. it's really self-supporting.

ever heard of the 'runner's high'?

I'm running the London marathon next April.

I've done half marathons before, but never a full one. Can't wait.

what was your half marathon time?

Posted by DJ Mikey Mike on Jun-07-2007 19:13:

1 hour 23 mins.

I've read somewhere that a very rough full marathon time can be worked out by doubling your half marathon time and adding 10 minutes - Which will just bring me under my 3 hour target if all goes well.

If you can do 3 hours I'd be impressed. Hell, if you can do under 4 hours I'll be impressed. How long have you been running?
