I read some very interesting stuff about Ibiza today in a magazine article. Apparently Es Vedra, a small island on the coast of Ibiza, is the third most magnetic point in the world (north pole and Bermuda triangle are the top 2). They said these magnetic forces might have something to do with the drive that people have to return year after year. Here is some more info:

http://ibiza.costasur.com/en/misterioso-ibiza.html

According to Nostradamus, Ibiza Island will be the only place thats supports human life after nuclear disaster; Ibiza will be Earths final refuge after Armageddon. He predicted that Ibizas peculiar prevailing wind patterns will ensure that it is be the only remaining life supporting environment left on Earthhmmminteresting.

The early Phoenicians believed that Ibiza Island was a magical place that had been blessed by the gods. The rich red soil is non volcanic. No animal, plant, reptile or insect capable of harming man can survive here. Nowadays, many of the locals still wear pendants containing the sacred soil in order to protect them from harm.

The enigmatic Island of Es Vedra rises dramatically from the waters of Cala DHort. Curiously, no living thing can survive on the island. Its completely devoid of life. In times past, Carmelite priests have claimed to have recorded mystical revelations here, and that they have had encounters with unearthly being surrounded by white light while meditating there.

Nowadays fishermen still avoid the area. A strong magnetic force is said to emanate from Es Vedra, resulting in gigantic circles of light emerging from the sea and various other unexplained phenomena

One thing's for the sure, Ibiza has a strange magnetism for attracting creative talent from all over the globe. It has an extremely high concentration of international talent for such a tiny island. People find inspiration and fulfilment from the Ibicenco way of life - a simple natural alternative to modern stressful living. Everything is Tranquillo. A word used to mean finding inner peace and harmony with nature.

ES VEDRA

So I finally booked the flights. We'll get to Barcelona Sept 3 and then to Ibiza on the 6th and leave the 12th. I have been researching hotels for a while now, but still haven't been able to decide.
I thought I was going to stay at Pacha hotel for one night on the 6th since we are going to Pacha that night but there is a four night minimum and it's $1800/night Friday and Saturday so forget that. That's just too much.

Still looking for some options in Ibiza town preferably or walking distance at least. Whatever happened to El Divino apartments ?
I don't think it would have mattered that much if I had booked earlier because the rates are pretty much set depending on when you go. Any suggestions on hotels ? Too bad we're not going next year when there seems to be some nicer options.

DC10 is going off as usual, although many people have been saying that this will be its last year open.... we'll see...

Puff Daddy is surely LUSHING it up... DC10 is one of his favorite clubs btw...

Posted by HALO555 on Aug-16-2007 01:03:

Unhappy

So anybody have first hand knowledge or info from somebody that's seen the beaches in Ibiza ? How affected were the Talamanca and Figueretas beaches ? Of course I read the news report, but that doesn't really give me the full 411.
Still tring to decide on the hotel.

Parties:
Sept 6: Steve Lawler, Eric Prydz at Pacha
Sept 7-8: ????
Sept 9: Space - We love Sundays
Sept 10: DC10 and Cocoon
Sept 11: Carl Cox closing party ?

heh - we leave the day before you arrive...

from what i understand, the oil is a non-issue now. there hasn't been a newsarticle posted online since the 3rd of August i think...and last i heard it was cleaned up and contained.

i agree Fri/Sat is a ???

we're thinking of maybe Hed Kandi (heard its a clusterf*ck inside and it was last time i was there) or Monza at Privilege. wanted to hit up Manumission at Privilege but now they moved to Amnesia I guess that's not gonna happen.

Pure Pacha has good lineups but don't want to go to Pacha 2 nites in a row. will probably check out Manumission/Made in Italy at Amnesia that friday for Lawler in the main room and Manu on the patio.

...thanks for all the info guys. Due to scheduling conflicts I wont be able to be there till the very very last week, (Space Closing party, a couple of others). I was hoping to hook up with some TA's there but maybe next year. Discodave, special thanks again for hotel tips, etc.

That's too bad. As for oil spills, they're not that easy to clean up, so we shall see....

I don't know where to really go on Friday and Saturday. Last year we noticed a lot of young immature kids running around on the weekend. We did got Manumuission at Privelege, but we weren't that impressed. Yes, the club is huge but that's about it. The funny thing is that I thought it would be the perfect place for a Tiesto show and sure enough ....
I am curious about checking out El Divino, but not if it's snooty. We didn't go to Underground, so maybe we'll try that. Not sure what day would be good. Be sure to let us know how things go.

So where did you finally end up getting your hotel ? I'm trying to get the Pacha hotel for just one night (thursday), but it's supposed to be a 4 night minimum.

Posted by Cool1g on Aug-16-2007 01:42:

we booked the Pacha hotel....we're there for 6 nites so the minimum stay wasn't a problem for us.

try and check out the Blue Marlin beach club if you can....beautiful beach/venue. not cheap but Ibiza is stupid expensive right now ($24 red bull/vodkas at Pacha, water is $12-$14, $70 cover presale ($85-100 at the door for Space/Pacha/Amnesia). luckily we only paid 1 time to get in over an entire week
