lol Jay, will all my respect, but you are barking from an absolutely wrong tree
for most of us, at turns out, whistles deprive us from enjoying the music and the night to the max
private space or no private space, there's no way of escaping it, unless it's a big event and you can go to a dif room
and it has absolutely nothing to do with Toronto clubbing scene specifically, lol I love how you try to put it all in one pile

there was a group of people at the docks awhile back when simon jain was spinning that would not stop whistling for a good hour or so. it completely ruined the vibe for myself and many others. i'm guilty of the odd whistle here and there, but like others have said, once or twice is fine. anything past that is simply annoying to many people around you.
as for people spilling water on the floor, i have no issues with that. it is no more dangerous then the sweat rain that falls from the guv ceiling at 5am or so.

Hey man, it definitely gets annoying dealing with people who have such an ego inflation going on, they assume that they are either bad ass, or adding hugely to the vibe - and its just lame.
However,
Its not like anyone is saying: "Oh my god, if that whistling doesn't stop, I'm going to have an aneurysm", its just something that the majority of people seem to think is annoying, which the thread was trying to find out.

Roffles, I love arguing with you.
I used the Saturday Night Fever reference cause that's the first movie that came to mind that was about danceoffs. I usually stay away from movies like that cause they're shit, and have the same plotline.
Anyway, if I can dance on that spot, then you can surely walk on it? Or do you have less balance when walking than when dancing?
We can argue all day but I doubt you'd get it...I mean, how would you? You're clearly incapable of thinking about anybody other then yourself. So I don't expect you to respect the fact that we all share the dance floor. I don't expect you to realize that when you spill water on it and make it dangerous and someone later unknowingly steps on it while dancing or because it's dark or because they're high and injuries themselves, the cause of that injury is a direct result of your actions. How can I expect you to get it - you clearly don't give a fuck, do you?
Regarding my balance problems. Again, we can debate the issue on this forum ad nauseam and get nowhere, which is why I suggested we meet and settle it once and for all. Why you took this as a call to battle I'm not sure. Maybe you've watched Saturday Night fever once too often and all those scenes with Travolta in his tight pants doing his thang have warped you thinking. Maybe you think that's how it's still done. Maybe that's how you wish it were still done. We can only speculate...
Personally, I'm just curious as to why someone needs to dance in a wetspot. I'm fascinated as to how exactly it improves a persons ability to rock a beat. That's why I suggested we meet - to get some questions answered. Yours as well as mine. So while I watch you do your best Travolta impression, you can observe my balance or lack or it, and whether or not my girl and my hand are indeed one and the same.
But you don't want to do ya? It seems you'd rather be a forum board tiger and stay within your safety circle in the cyber realm instead of venture out into the jungle. So I'll just drop it and move on. You win son, You're the king. So, go on - let everyone hear you ROAR...

OMFG! I always dance next to Cosmic, and I understand why he does it. Have you ever stood on a really sticky surface? It's not too pleasant to step on let alone dance on. He puts a little bit of water on HIS dancing area to make it less sticky. He isn't throwing buckets of water all over the fucking place. Why the hell are you making such a big deal out of this? If anyone is going to trip and fall, it is going to be HIM, not anyone else. He doesn't put the water down and then move away.
This has nothing to do with his dancing style; it has everything to do with his dancing surface. You are being stupid for not understanding the point that Idma is trying to make, so do us all a favor and stfu.
I hope that this enlightened you.

I find it annoying when people dance at a club....everyone should just stand still and bounce their heads......it would make things so less annoying.....no whitsling, no spilling water to make the dance floor wet...just good ole fashion head bouncing.

This is between A, and B [email protected] suggest you C yourself out before you get tangled in something that'll only heighten your emotional state. You're bias in this matter is self evident, and shilling yourself out for his cause will only get you a cold hard slap back to reality. You don't want that, and more importantly neither do I.
Now, *IF* I felt you were adding something valuable to this discussion I'd give you some respect, but you've clearly not even read everything that preceded my last post so it's impossible to see you as anything other then a joke. If you had read it, you'd realize I DIDN'T gun for him. He found his way into this argument. My rant was a general one, aimed at people who do what he does. I didn't single him out, I didn't even mention his name. I didn't even know he existed till he waddled into my cross hair and started yapping about how if he could dance the fruck out on a wetspot I should have no problem in walking on it. He questioned my ability while advertising his. I merely called him on it. Then he took it to a whole new level. I guess he wanted my attention - so I gave it to him. Don't make the same mistake.
With that said, and what with you being the first to give me unsolicited advise, here's me - returning the favor. Go back to sucking a dick or something equally useful. Two men just finished having words, don't pull a bitch move and jump in with your two cents after one of them starts to walk away.
You add absolutely nothing to this discussion and half of what you have said reveals you lack the ability to foresee the cause and effect of your friends actions. Persist with your line of attack against me and the next post WILL expose your narrow minded stupidity for all to read.
So, now that we've all attained some degree of enlightenment - here what I'm going to do. I'm going to close the chapter on this discussion and walk away like I intended to do before you decided to open your mouth for all the wrong reasons. Why don't you and him both FUCK OFF to your respective wetspots and do whatever it is you do there and just let this thing die? Does that work for you, katie?

When I was a Floorwhore.... I spilled water all over the joint so ass fucks like Kytracid (who can't handle a little moisture on the floor while establishing his groove) slipped, sometimes fell, even better - injured themselves severely.
Don't like the floor wet? Bring a mop, or find a dry spot.... just like if you don't like the whistlers, get the fuck out of their way.
p.s. - I can't talk shit about Kytracid's dance skills.... he pwned the mawfaw.

can't recall a time when someone whistling at a club bothered me.
BUT i have a particular memory of a guy's sneakers constantly sqeaking against floor as he was dancing *squeak..squeak..fucking squeak*. a huge pet peeve of mine is when people slam their hands or water bottles on the metal tables in gallery and cz..that annoys the hell out of me.

I just replied to something that you posted that I disagreed with. I didn't realize that would be considered "wanting your attention". Again, get over yourself.
Now to rewind a bit:

Which is true - because of the intense heat in the club, the water I spill evaporates quickly, which makes your entire "OMG SAFETY HAZARD" point moot because it's only a safety hazard for a short little while, and FAR from everyone in the club spills water on the floor like you're implying. You're blowing "the problem" far out of proportion.

I'm calling bullshit on this. Very rarely I've seen people actually fall, NEVER have I seen someone injure themselves over it. And the people who do fall are the same ones who are so drunk/high they can barely hold themselves up. They're not really the best example of that upstanding clubber who just goes to clubs to bust a move out.

PS. I have no intention of dancing on your wetspot although I do have reservations of how well anybody can dance on an oilslick. With that being said - This is me, calling you out. Name the next jam you're at, and I'll turn up...you can dance on a slippery floor and I'll bust on a nice 'safe' dry patch and we'll let those who are gathered around say who's dancing and who's not.

I've...fuck, YOU'VE gone over this - it's cause it's easier and requires less effort, which is something I'm lacking after about 2am when everyone has finally spilled all the drinks they were going to spill.
I have just one question left (and please answer truthfully):
Do you really feel in danger of falling while you're walking over a bit of water as you're making your way slowly through a rammed club? (because if it wasn't rammed, I'm guessing you'd just walk around that treacherous water spill)

Hehe, it's a good thing you've turned your focus on becoming a DJ then, your water spilling dumbass coulda killed someone out there if you still lived upto your name as floorwhore.
Also, a little moisture is what accumulates on your ass crack on a hot summer day. Be honest now - you've rocked the Zone, Guv, Sonic, Boa...don't tell me it's a little. There used to be spots that were greasy as fuck out there, and when you're feeling a groove and bouncing around all it takes is one wrong footing to go tits up. Not to mention it's dark, you're pilling (or drunk, or tired), you're confined to a smaller space so even when you do fall it's often awkwardly.
In any case, you're right in one way -- if you don't like it, you should just move the fuck out the way, which I feel is what quite a few clubbers who are really into dancing have done. Over the years I see more dancers in studio like clubs where the dance floor is treated with more respect then I do at the big clubs where people just abuse the fuck out of the surface and make it treacherous.
PS. Thanks for putting in print, your malicious intentions regarding other clubbers. *IF* someday you do make it big, I'll be sure to include part of your post in my signature. Jeff Button - "superstar DJ once a ex clubber and floorwhore, deliberately spilt water on the floor so that ass fucks like me, and hundreds like me would fall and injure ourselves severely. Ok, here goes. I honestly don't go to clubs like Guv anymore, because it's hard to find a spot where you can cut loose without being afraid of doing a face plant. I'd rather go to El'Mocambo where people respect the floor.
When I did frequent places like the Zone and Guv which have always ranked as the most dangerous places to go crazy I've either staked out my claim to a dry spot and stayed there, or I've held back from going full out because I know it increases the risk of injury. I approach dancing like I do sports. I won't play ball on a slippery court, so I don't dance on one either.
My girl slipped while just walking on a spot in the Guv 5-6 months ago...it was rammed, and she was being surged forward when her foot gave away in one of these wetspots. She sprained her wrist and quite frankly that was probably because she was lucky. I've seen a guy go tits up and almost smash his nut on the floor. He might have been high, or drunk, but how does that excuse people from knowingly contributing to a dangerous situation.
I ask you this -- can you imagine any other situation where you'd pour water on the floor, and not cordon the area off, or put up a sign warning people. No, you wouldn't. People in a club are often not alert to the dangers around them. The last thing they expect is a slippery surface, what with people pressed up against them, the heat, the music, the whistles (!). I just feel it makes common sense not to add to all those things. But then, that's just me. People are going to do what they want...whether it's blare on those whistles, or go wild with their air horns, or spill water to help them dance.
Seeing as this is a thread where people were ranting about what they hate, I figured I'd do so as well. Perhaps it's my own ego, but I feel some things you can overlook, others -- well, lets just say you realize how silly they are when someone you know or love gets hurt.
