I don't care if there isn't another car for 100000km....there is still no reason for that kind of speeding. Cars are not the only thing that can cause an accident.

Bring back photo radar and put it on every bridge along the 401......a trip from Guv to Kitchener would get awful expensive doing 50 km over the speed limit the whole way.

150 on the highway is nothing. theres nothing wrong or super unsafe about it....well it might be for the majority of the retard drivers out there but most of thsoe dont go that speed. Not saying all people who speed are amazing drivers either.

but doing 150 down the highway (401, 407 etc) isnt all that much faster than the regular flow of traffic(120-140).

cruising at 150 out on the 401 (especially when conditions can take that) is no fucking big deal . nevermind the fact that just cruising isnt a fucking race.

majority of accidents these days(especially during this summer) comes from turd drivers who make unsafe lane changes OR try to speed in areas where they shouldnt(like all those trucks taking that one turn on the 401 near yorkdale too fast) or someone trying to do 100-120 during rush hour.

the accidents arent from "street racers" or people cruising 150. sure some do happen but much less than the general folks gong with the flow (which is almost near 150 anyways these days) driving like tards.

anyways this new law is a crock of shit.

OPP and these law makers should get their shit straight, speeding is one thing, racing is another, regardless of their main communality, those 2 terms shouldn't be mixed up like that.

Racing on roads open to public should be highly penalized;

but OPP should not pull you over just because you moded your ride and label you as a racer + give you a damn fine if you have a good set of koni's&2 sway bars bolted on and they think that your radiator or transmission cooler is a fucking intercooler because they think they know shit about cars;

and why doesn't the government put our money to good use and optimize the slow traffic on our major highways? Build more freaking highways, put our tax money to good use; So I and others like me don't have to go nuts on alternative routes where speeding permits. And don't give me the leave earlier lecture, I always give myself 1/2, 3/4 of an hour spare time to get places, and even then I'm sometimes late.

Another thing: 2 days ago there was an accident on the 403 ramp from QEW at ford drive where I swear to god, I've never seem so many cruisers at the scene...

how many fucking cops does it take to figure out that there was an accident at the scene? ...
how many people needed the help of OPP while the cops where jerking around a scene where they didn't have a purpose?
why aren't they monitoring the roads in the school areas where highschool idiots do 40 over in 40 zones?

So the person obeying the law is the reason for accidents....not the people who are disobeying the law. The only reason they become a greater risk is because others can't obey the law.

I said one of the reasons.

if you do 100 on the third lane where the speed is usually higher, you do block traffic and force drivers to weave all over the road just to pass you; that alone can trigger accidents, not only because drivers speed but because some don't check the lanes they plan to change to, failing to check blind spots for example and so forth;

in cases where I see people coming fast towards me and there's free road ahead of me, I let them pass me and get out of their way. what if at the moment they approaching me they fail to see my car, for any distracting reason, and smash into my ride which in turn puts MY life at risk and many others on the street. Why not avoid an accident when you can instead of being stubborn on reinforcing the rules of the law, etc.

I can't understand why some people fail to check the traffic around them, they only care of what's ahead.

My point is that if you wanna obey the law, do it, more of us should do so, but don't be stubborn to enforce it yourself on the highway. The rule of thumb and road courtesy, if you drive slow, please do so in the right lane, and DO share the road!

you do realize its not the "fast lane" its the passing lane...nothing pisses me off more then seeing people driving in the passing lane when its meant for passing....although we all do it....I still hate it when people refer to it as the fast lane.

But you see when i am driving in the passing lane and i see someone closing in, i give them the way and move to the middle lane or whatever you call it.I was talking about more of those who think its their dad who owns the passing lane.

Somone cruising 100 in teh fast lane ...will cause an accident. NOT someone going 140 or 150.

regardless of who is obeying the law...the 100 cruiser will be causing huge issues.

We OFFICIALLY have the dumbest law ever! Before all you losers that posted 150 is way too fast and you agree with this new law, there are reasons as to why 50km/hr ON THE HIGHWAY is not really that much. I'm not saying that 150 is SAFE! and that you should be doing it all the time, but to impound, suspend a license, and heavy fine someone for that low of a limit, it's pretty ridiculous. If the law was for 170-80km/hr, I'm all for it... but 150, thats a complete stupid joke! I'm all for this law if a driver is doing 50 over on a 50 zone, basically anything other than a highway. Then this would make way more sense.

Now... when you are on the highway, there are no parked cars around, kids playing on the sidewalk, people walking on the street, traffic lights... NOTHING! It's people driving at a consistent steady speed of, normally, 100-120km/hr. I'm not promoting that we all drive at 150km/hr, or that it is safe to drive at that speed... but there will be that one day where you will drive over or near that speed because of a reason or another and you know your best friend will be there hidding behind some barrier/wall like the scum that they are, with their stupid radar gun just waiting to ruin someone's life for a few years.

So whats the point of buying a really nice car now? a powerfull car? None at all. Why don't we just fuckin' manufactor them to a limit of 160. Why even have speedometers that say 200 or something crazy like that.

Its funny to see how many people agree with this law, you know what I agree with... A road test every 4-5yrs when you have to renew your G license. I don't believe that going 50 over (basically 30 over since everyone already does 120) will make your accident a lot more dangerous then you travelling at 120. I wish to GOD we had this type of testing system. I bet most of you that agree with this law are dumb asses who don't signal, don't look over your shoulder when changing lanes, run that red (Wait, its still a yellow right?), slow down for no fuckin' reason on the highway because you're going over the speed by 10 or so, and of course like Euphorica said in the beginning, the idiot who drives at 100 on the fast lane. Having THIS sort of law is the type of shit that would keep BAD/INEXPERIENCED drivers out of the road and having more experienced drivers who can handle a 150kn/hr speed once in a while when need be. Think about that for a minute. Start with the root of the cause (Bad drivers).

One thing is for sure, this McGuinty dumb ass is not getting my vote when it comes to election time. He can stick his 1 extra holiday proposal up his ass.

ok, if you are going 50 over in a 40 zone than you shoudl get in trouble...but on the highway..please. the 100km/h limit is way outdated.

not to mention the whole reason this law started was cause of those 2 guys who were supposedly street racing killed that couple...turns out the judge said they werent racing.... 2 the fukcing guy was DRUNK. double the limit! under the influence is FAR worse than someone speeding.

better driver training would be such a better solution to the bad driving problem out there, but why would they actually want to try and fix that? thats not the real issue. street racing is
