lol trust me, if dancing hard every weekend was all it took, I would be 120 lbs right now..........lol I go to the gym 3 days a week, hit the club once a week and have lost 5lbs in 6 months.......maybe if I dance in nada's heels...???

Totally agree. I hate this ridiculous idea of paying more if you wanna eat healthy. What a crock of marketing shit.

By comparison, I never exercise, spend 90% of my time sitting in front of a computer or at my desk, go clubbing from time to time, don't watch what I eat at all, and i'm not gaining any weight. Metabolism is a bitch.

skinniness isn't exactly too healthy either

you're telling me, lol.

I'm as unhappy about being skinny as fat people are about being fat.

Except its a lot easier to gain weight than it is to lose it. There is no such thing as 'hard gainers'. It's simply a matter of intaking enough calories.

You say you eat bad food, but probably don't eat enough of it. Try a diet of 3500-4000 cals and then tell me you're not gonna gain weight.

Anything is possible so there's nothing to be unhappy about, its simply a matter of how badly you want it.

lol I hate you right now

By health comparison, I will live til the age of 90 being chubby and healthy.......and you will be skinny until 75....who wins? lol

WHAT!! wow....

I think that Armin is the fast food of electronic music. Consistently mediocre, inexplicably addictive to a certain small group of people, and carrying almost no nutritional value whatsoever. And you generally need a lot of drinks to wash it down.

Seriously, I can't help but wonder where some people get the idea that dancing once a week at a nightclub is good exercise, especially knowing how some of those people dance. Not talking about you personally, I haven't seen you, I'm just speaking generally. And I'm not even talking about skill, you can be totally spastic and still burn calories, but waving your hands in the air and bending your knees a few times != exercise.

Mental activity can also burn calories. I'm not saying fat people don't think, just that the whole equation is pretty complex when you get right down to it.

Posted by yankeeBaby on Oct-30-2007 17:55:

^^ lol you are 100% right, "wokring out" once a week in general doesnt do shit for you. shit, I was saying in previous posts that dancing plus working out THREE days a week doesnt even do much for me. By boyfriend is one of those dooods that works out once a week. lucky for him, he already has a nice bod.

wanna talk about "hard gainers"? talk to MikeyN

he's been doing 3500-4000 AT LEAST on daily basis for about a month or more now, he lost 2 pounds last time he weighted himself

kinda wish I could share some wobbly bits with him *sigh*

solution is simple:

tell mikey to start drinking more beer -- like a lot more!!! its not difficult, nor hard to consume an extra 5-6 beers a day im sure he could easily work those into the day it'll work like a charm, plus you get to be drunk (if you so chose to consume them all in the same period back to back) and consume all that delicious, glorious, wonderful beer thoughout the day! thats how i cultivated my beer belly. and look how healthy she's doing these days!

haha but he wants to gain weight generally everywhere, not just the belly he's been carefully watching the calorie intake, and supplements the diet with protein shakes too

Some people are surprised to learn that it can be equally difficult for some with fast metabolisms to gain weight as it is for others with slower metabolisms to lose it.

I also would love to put a few on, although for me it requires a very strict routine of eating/strength training and much more discipline than I can muster at this time in my life.

*patiently waiting for my metabolism to naturally slow down*

Yeah, in the same boat as Mikey probably. Although another problem is that it seems impossible for me to eat that much food every day. I simply eat to the point where I am not hungry anymore. Eating past that point becomes laborious, and to me, defeats the enjoyment of the food. Even if I somehow got 4000 calories into me in one day, the experience would be far from enjoyable, and the results of the feat marginable.

Side note: I've never counted my calories (partly because I've always considered it a suitable activity for overweight, middle-aged women), so I don't actually know how many I eat in a day, but 4000 seems like a lot. I dunno what the average number of calories that people consume is - I'm probably very close to the average, maybe just under it.

Posted by Zentac_75 on Oct-30-2007 18:36:

4000 calories seems like a lot, but only if your getting it from salad. A typical steak dinner with potatoes or a hearty, creamy pasta dish can easily have upwards of 1000 calories.

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Oct-30-2007 18:37:

4 steaks in a day is definitely a lot, hahaha.

once you start, it actually becomes an easy thing to do - you start remembering how many calories each food has (bread, yogurt, milk, etc etc)
Mike eats a lot and often too, he'd have snacks here and there, and pretty bulky breakfast and dinner, and cookies and milk before sleep too hehe but he's not even putting on any unwanted weight (belly fat or bum fat), nothing

That's your problem then, not enough calories. The average is about ~2000. If your metabolism really was that high then you'd eat all the time, but it is evident that you don't? This is where the working out thing comes into play. You use more energy, thus your body needs more, you eventually build muscle which in turn requires even more energy and it is the only way to gain quality weight. The last thing you wanna gain is a whole bunch of fat.

My recommendation for anyone who is underweight is to join a gym, train 3-5 days a week (if possible), and eat a whole lot and then tell me you can't gain any weight!

We never said we couldn't possibly gain weight. I was arguing with your

3-5 days of exercise and eating a lot is as easy for skinny people as is 3-5 days of exercise and eating a lot less for fat people.
