Trance today is so much easier to mix than 'old' trance, which didnt seem to have any discernible kick. Now compare that to the HUGE kicks tracks have today *cough* sean tyas.

Not to mention the exact same structure in each track so you can mix tracks you haven't even listened to before.

I already have, this thread is old-hat now. But you should do the same with your crusade to stop those from liking anything new in trance....show them the way to the old school. Fine and dandy, but isn't it possible to like both? That's what I'm arguing, but don't purport to make it like I'm in the wrong cause I didn't get into the same artists/DJs that you or others did...I got into what I like and it may be cheesy to you, but that doesn't mean it doesn't hold value to me (and do you consider Salt Tank, early Chicane, Transa, X-Cabs, early BT, Solar Stone, Tastexperience, Tilt, early PvD, Taucher, early aliases from Tiesto w/other producers, etc to be cheese? the first few Magik CDs from Tiesto, esp the first one..that's almost as trancey as you can get, none of the huge super-saw breakdowns that I can't stand as much you).

I'm sick of yours and others crusades to change others tastes, taste is subjective, it's not some objective thing that you think you can change to get everyone thinking like you and liking what you like....you really want to be known as a troll? Butting into people's conversations to say "your trance sucks, you don't listen to trance, you need to like this and that, what you like is cheese shit". You need to stop the name calling, mud throwing and your evangelism.

But I have to give you one thing that some other guy named Julien on here doesn't have, a passion at least for some trance music, where he just simply goes around saying it all sucks. Now he's probably a bigger troll than you are. And also, I don't really listen to THAT much trance anymore so don't purport that I'm some ASOT loving, Armin worshipping, anthem trance loving cheeseball just because I got into melodic trance from the mid/later 90s and not KLF's "White Room" back in 89. I much prefer to listen post-rock/shoegazer/dream-pop and some new age/ethereal electronic music now....anything with a good melody.

I know it isn't about me. But it's about others on here that I'm worried about, not just myself. Yeah sure I'm taking some of my frustrations out on here, but I like to think I can go on a trance message board and talk about trance and not be subjected to "your trance sucks, you don't listen to the stuff from 1993, so your not cool!" types of attitude. I'm hoping that this message board can turn around for the better not be known as a place where people constantly bicker about whose tastes are better or what constitutes real true "proper" trance. This is for EVERYONE not just myself.

I am trying to (maybe not good at it) to come to a middle ground saying both old and new trance should be appreciated. Even if there isn't as much good stuff nowadays (which I agree with) there shouldn't be anything wrong with liking it. Why can't people's tastes just be respected...why do we have to show others "the light at the end of the tunnel" if there is no tunnel to begin with?..just different strokes for different folks, not one narrowly defined choice for people to like based around a specific sound or idea.

Spirit5, i personally know that you have a good taste for good melodic music in general and not just melodic trance. The thing is that the current thread was about "older" trance so you actually acted like the very same people that you accuse for trolling, you interrupted the conversation and started trolling (in a way). I can see that you are desperate though because you like some good new melodic/epic trance tunes (i personally like some as well, not as much as i used to, but i can admire a good lead-line every now and then) and then you go to a place that is called "trance-addict", and surprisingly enough, the majority of "trance-addicts" (at least those of the "music-discussion" section) not only don't want to talk or hear about any new epic/ trance, but sometimes they fight it with all their strength! Thing is that...this is the way "Trance-addict" is. It is not "trance-addict" anymore, more of an "EDM-addict" or something. As a result, it seems that not many people in here like this specific kind of trance that sometimes you (and sometimes i ) like. If you want to talk abouth this specific sound you can go to Trance.nu or some site like that, where people seem to be passionate (well from what i saw not all of them but definitely the majority) about this specific sound. By the way, someone change the name of the current site please...

Yeah maybe I was starting to troll this thread but really I just have this bottled up frustration with this site and really do think it's one of the most mislabeled sites on the net. They should really change this to something like "electronic music addict" or "danceaddict" or something (though not all the music talked about in here is dance).

I have made threads especially devoted to it, but those didn't get very far...so my only thing is to say something in some of these threads. I did start off contributing, but then I think I did and some other people got carried away and people starting to accuse me of saying (which in a way I did) that you really HAD to be there to really appreciate the music, which is not what I implied, merely to state that people who are around my age...act like they lived through the early 90s liking this music and acting like they were there in the early 90s trance scene, going to raves at 7, 8 or 9 years old.

And I do think it's funny that people come on here, talk about trance as if it's either dead, that it sucks, or that the only REAL trance is this old stuff so anything beyond that is not really trance or is just crap (and no I am not talking about Ian van Dahl, DJ Sammy or that stuff..I am with you that they are definitely NOT trance but I don't like them). Or that really, people get turned away by trance on a forum especially devoted to trance, rather than embraced for commonality in interests.

I guess this place is more devoted towards the really old stuff or the psy trance or all other forms of EDM..but then why are there tracks from 2001, 2002 on the main page and sets from around then...it's just weird. I guess trance.nu is a better site for talking about trance than "tranceaddict" in quotes. I just like this site a little better (the interface) it's easier to post..and looks cooler than that blue and white and gray on Trance.nu.

Edit: You probably won't see me post on here much anymore. I think I'm through with this forum. I stopped for like 3 or 4 months over the summer but just got back into posting recently. I think I will check out Trance.nu so I can actually meet some people into music that I like.

no. trance.nu is a much better place for -> Armin, Tiesto etc-type of trance. Because that is more or less what they only do. Other type of trance barely exist for them. But if you like it that way then go ahead. You will have a jolly good time there.

Anyone still got that screenshot from trance.nu where 15 of 20 threads in the forum have "Tiesto" in the title?

But I'm not really into them, but am into some of the music they play (esp Tiesto, I prefer his approach). So that's what I was going to say, that they might be too extreme ASOT loving, Armin loving etc. I'm not that way, I just so happen to prefer melodic trance to other forms...whether it's old stuff or new stuff, and I agree with you...it's harder to find decent..quality melodic stuff nowadays. I weed through pages and pages of tracks to find maybe 10 or 15 that are decent IMO. I just want to be respected for what I like, and will respect others for what they like, as long as I don't get something else pushed down my throat because someone else deems it "better". So I will admit that I am into the music, not the DJs, so no one can label me a "DJ Worshipper", cause I moslty buy their CDs for the tracks (but not really Armin's new CDs since I don't care much for a lot of the new tracks he plays).

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Dec-09-2007 23:16:

You're not fucking respecting what others like, you're acting like an idiotic prick because we don't share your tastes and we have the temerity to make a thread praising something else. Just fuck off to T.nu and be done with it.

To many of you are jaded and need to take a step back and reevalute your thoughts on trance in general. THis is the type of music I usually play in my sets:

1. Friends Lover & Family - Highly Strung
2. Binary Finary - 1998
3. Cyrus & The Joker - Milky Way
4. Y Trax - Y Trax Remix
5. Billy Hendrix - Bodyshine
6. Juan Verada - Spiritual Healing
7. KC - Escape
8. Fridge - Paradise
9. Push - Universal Nation
10. Katcha - Touched by God
11. Jam & Spoon - Odyessy 2 Anyoona
12. Boogie Nights Film - Last Scene
13. Mauro Picotto - Lizard
14. Moogwal - Viola
15. Heaven Beats - Free Time
16. Ambassador - The Fade
17. Energy 52 - Caf Del Mar (Three 'N One Mix)
18. Art Of Trance - Madagascar (Ferry Corsten Remix)
19. Face the Phase - phase part 2
20. Space Manoeuvers - Stage One
21. Mystery Land - Y-Traxx
22. Marc Et Claude - La LA [Moonman's Flashover Mix]
23. Yahel - Voyage (Original Mix)
24. Bulgarian (Signum remix) - Travel
25. Chicane - Halycon(Airscape Remix)
26. Atlantis - Fiji (Lange Remix)
27. Afterburn - Northpole
28. Moonman - Galaxia (Solarstone Remix)
29. Terra Firma - Obelix (Terra Firma Remix)
30. Ayla - Ayla (DJ Taucher mix)
31. Nukieuz - Noise Maker Vol 1

The crowd loves good music. That is what I have learned. It does not matter how old the track is. All that matters is that you spin tunes that move people and sound good.

thats odd... i find it to be the exact opposite. the older 90s stuff sounds alot fuller and beefier than todays music to me. even with the slick production todays music lacks something in comparisson
