thought jason was ok, pretty good tracks -- people loved the end up track, weirdos atimatik was too electro'ish for my taste. vlad had some nice progression and tracks esp spastik (surprised me that crowd liked this as well esp at around 2:45AM) but it was more of an opening set than the time slot given at least for a normal saturday night at 1015 where its usually full on trance. complete opposite of what blurr and lukasz 2 people asked me who vlad was and friend who rarely comes to 1015 said he enjoyed all the DJs

ill go through my pics tomorrow as im going to rest up some more

also where was T this night?

yup twas a fun night. i like to give people a taste of everything i pretty much plowed through all the genres from progressive trance to tec house, to progressive house to epic trance to hard hitting tech trance. whew i was exhausted most of the night but i gave it my best. the xone 92 mixer....took a little bit of getting used to, horrible cueing on that thing though, still like pioneer waaay better. all in all i had fun, and i wanna thank everyone who made it out! it was awesome meeting all of you!

rizo do you know if the sets were recorded?

i agree with you rizo. 1015 is a much harder crowd especially at 2:45. bucke, i'm glad your set went well. i'm sorry that some of use couldn't be there, but i'm sure your mix will turn up somewhere. hope to see you back soon!

plus that end up track was pretty damn funny. lyndsay actually got the cd from jason.

Sorry I missed your gig, Bucke. Next time I see you I will buy you a whopper.

Posted by R!CH on Jan-07-2008 06:59:

i didn't think i was gonna make it out saturday night especially after the weekend before, but i went out, stayed mostly sober and had a great time. i loved the music variety in the main room and the upstairs was rockin pretty hard too. atimatik's set was probably my favorite though i never got a chance to hear vlad, i don't think. the club seemed really hot inside though, like the a/c was completely off. that's the only thing that winded me early on.

lol dude i ate a whopper while i was stuck at LAX and it was the single most disgusting thing ever. had this nasty aftertaste the whole time and security confiscated my toothpaste! bastards!

on a side note i thought the vibe at 1015 was OFF THE WALL! so many wonderful people that seemed to be enjoying the music. even the though it probably wasn't even half full most of the time, the vibe was still there. people were reaching into the dj booth to shake my hand and some random guy came up to me while i was playing this junkie xl remix and said "thank you, you're fucking awesome"

things got twice as nuts when i started dropping some massive m6 and mac and mac tech trance, and i think they really loved the closing with solarcoaster. all in all really wonderful vibe, way better than what we have at the megaclubs in LA, and i didn't really see many washing machines or crackheads either. the crowd really helped me get past my exhaustion and get in my zone.

1015's booth really helps to the vibe becuase the DJ is right there and not on some high stage. It feels much more personal. Atimatik and I talked about this briefly when I brought up Eric Prydz at Ruby Skye and the DJ booth was set crowd level rather than on the stage. The vibe at 1015 is ace and only other place that comes into mind that matches it is Love (Fraggle Rock) in NYC although I only visit this once and a lot of NYTAs were in force and it was right after PvD in Central Park.

I'll check my pictures and recordings when I get home from work.

Great to meet all you guys in person, you were all super friendly! Good job to all the DJs! I had a great time and it's definitely a pleasure to spin in the main room again at such a revered SF venue. It was a good feeling having people come up to me asking for CDs. Special thanks to Taj for the opportunity and also to the people that made it out despite the weather and NYE. There was definitely an electric vibe. I saw many camaras, are there any pics?

That's why I hate Vanguard, Ibiza and Dante's in St. Louis. Though Vanguard has a huge booth, the CDJ's pretty much block the dj's view entirely, at least the shorter ones. :]

Saturday was a fun night! Great variety and I'm so glad I got to hear trance on my last night. Good to meet you bucke and atimatik!

Saturday night was nice until they shut down the club at 3:30 and then we had to wait 20 minutes to get our coats and head over to Endup (though I passed on going in after seeing the line and not wanting to pay another $20).

I love that Richie Hawtin Plasticman track at the end of vid 1 and the start of vid 2. Got that on vinyl in the back crates somewhere and have been thinking that it needs to come back out!

Vlad, how do you like that Torque program? Wonder how that compares to Serato?

lol that's the new remix of it "plastikman-spastik (dubfire rework)" even better than the original imo, total floor killer. you could see the crowd starting to jump up and down when that shit hit the decks! also check out 2nd track after spastik in the 2nd video, "kaliber f. elodie-is this for love (mark knight remix)" another sick floor killer.

...as for torq, i think its awesome! it's cheaper than serato, has better features, 16 cell sampler, fully assignable midi control for any and all of its features, 7 built in effects per channel, support for vst effects, and the layout is intuitive and waveforms are easy to read. its also pretty stable, i don't think it ever crashed on me.

don't panic, i have some good news. i saved the tracklist for my set and remixed/recorded it today, its almost exactly the same in terms of mixing tracklist and runtime-while it was still fresh in my memory.

will post soon.

I was going to play Green Astronauts this week. Looks like I'm taking this out of my pile. I'm glad you actually played that. I've been wanting to hear that song play out for a while now. Just love how that song builds up and I missed it......
