| Originally posted by Project-K I never did restrain myself with sub-genres. I listened to tech house, prog, acid, detroit tech, minimal tech, deep house, breaks, 89-94 trance... In a way, this is all essentially the same genre (EDM), with subtle variations. The problem is, the more music I discovered, the higher my standards became, and then I reached a point where I was enjoying barely 1% of the tracks I listened to on beatport or heard in sets, such that searching for new tracks just became a hassle. Most of what I liked was made in the early 90s, and this sort of music just isn't made the same anymore. So as a result I ended up listening to the same 20-30 tracks all the time and I got bored quickly. |
It's not good to have low criterions, but it's maybe even less good to have 'em too high.
MINIMAL owns me right now, but listnening to a trance around the world from last year at the moment... Plastic Angel - Call The Galaxy Taxi (Martin Roth's Nu Style Mix)

I still listen to trance, but don't limit myself to just that. I like all kinda of EDM, but when I'm moody trance is usually what makes me feel better. Listening to trance ALMOST gets me in the same mood I'm in after having good sex.
Trance is still GOD in my circle of friends and always will be. Although it has become more techy/progressive as of late...
