Posted by StereoPrincess on Feb-05-2008 21:42:

that makes me sad

you know once it gets to her that you are watching it may get her to give better service or it may make her resent the guy and give him shittier service.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Feb-05-2008 21:46:

Well I don't think it's about resentment...it's just about plain old sloppy practice, period. I don't think she's been a nurse long enough to be in the position she's in at my work (Director of Care). She isn't even willing to be accountable. Instead of admitting her wrong, she gets all defensive and finds ways to justify her shitty practice.

She tried to tell me that it's ok to do certain things (that are totally NOT ok to do), cause "That's how it's done in hospital..blahblah..", and I said, "Well we may not be governed by CNO, but I still consider my own practice governed by them, and that's just sloppy practice, so I'll do it the way I was taught". LoL, shoulda seen the look on her face.

What matters is the last line of your long post Jenny. You are protected from any scandal, and may have saved a life in the process.

Posted by ashish_gupta on Feb-05-2008 22:31:

perhaps you interrupted a meticulously nefarious plan.

Anyway, I asked one of my teachers for advice and she told me to file a complaint with the College of Nurses, which I'm going to do.

What would happen here if the College of Nurses follows it up?

Posted by Silky Johnson on Feb-06-2008 00:43:

They will do an investigation. They WILL follow up. There is no "if". Whether or not anything will come of the investigation is another story.

If you really want to know, it's all on the CNO's website, under "Nursing Standards" in the compendium of standards.

And newsflash: that's the way it's always been, and will probably always be with the nursing profession, no matter how well respected it is. It's a thankless job man, and if the majority of people who got into it did it solely for the money or whatever else....well you'd have a lot of shitty fucking nurses.

Yes but that's why there's a shortage of nurses. Eventually if it stays shit, less and less people will study to be nurses and then there will be a crisis. Not exactly a profession where you want a shortage of staff.

Ahahahahaha, nice.

Posted by AndreaCKY772 on Feb-06-2008 03:14:

nothing has happened to me like that yet at a job... i'd say you still did the right thing, even though it might be awkward between you and your coworker.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Feb-06-2008 03:17:

Awkward for her - I don't give a fuck, lol. I'm not the one who doesn't know what I'm doing. And fortunately, the only time I'll ever see her is when we're doing a shift change.

If you followed proper procedures, you should be fine. And if management tries any funny business, confront them right off the bat.

How would you know that you don't know what you're doing though? If you are cognizant to that point, then you obviously *do* know what you are doing, therefore negating your statement.

Fag.
