Oh yes, and that dude has some real issues......

I have to say Tyas, even though I've heard from many sources that he's a nice guy, has never amazed me in terms of his creativity. It is well produced (technically) but has very little life.
The fact that so many people (on here too) have such infatuation for his music does make me think that the genre is in real trouble.

Having said that I don't really get why people are saying that 2001/2003 to 2005 were the "glory days" of trance? 2000 was when it all went downhill as far as I'm concerned (especially if you look at the dramatic increase from then, of remixes of "classic" tracks and a sharp decrease of original music). Aside from a couple of classics every year (i.e. Whiteroom in 2005) the general shape of trance has become over-produced, homogenised, unoriginal and formulaic, something that Sean Tyas has contributed to in a big way (not forgetting Tiesto, et al).

Listen to some of the essential mix's from the mid to late nineties (before it was called trance) and you will hear much more diversity and rawness in the productions, somehting which is sadly lacking in the scene today.

05 is Sean Tyas - Sean Tyas Song (Sean Tyas' Sean Tyas Dub)

and I'm pretty sure 02 is Tiesto feat. BT - Break My Fall

... don't ask me, I think it was out of place too.

rubez: A little hint. Make a couple of threads in the subforum chill out room (CORe).. I think they would love your cheery attitude there http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...p?s=&forumid=16

I like that he plays a lot of his own tracks because they go well with the style I expect from him.

He's still my #2 DJ.

never knew my dad, my mom died when i was really young, and i'm pretty sure my grandma didn't shaft me. Since you were so quick to bringing up getting shafted i think i understand where your coming from?. Did someone touch you when you were young? Are you still holding on to all that anger?.

Also you wouldn't happen to have long greasy hair, cuts on your arm, and a trench while coat jamming out to manson?. If so please get some help before you go shoot up your school or in your case a tyas show.

Well, it was called "trance" since at least the early '90s, but otherwise I agree with you. I listen to old tracks from like '93 - '98 or so and somehow they sound so "fresh" and interesting compared to a lot of stuff that came later, even though the trance made now is much more "polished" in terms of production. Just listen to the stuff in this video:

I watched this whole video and shit i wish i was born like 10 years earlier so i could experience the actual movement of trance. I enjoyed hearing the old school trance and yes it does sound much more fresh than the tracks that are released today. Nowadays trance is just so formulaic and rarely has diversity.

Posted by vercetti101 on Feb-15-2008 12:19:

i agree, old school tracks much more interesting. the 'polish' as you put it, which i think was new compression techniques or something started id say when flutlicht started doing tracks that sound higher quality. it seemed like noone could go back after that. where as flutlicht pulled it off in style, some of these new tracks.. makes me wanna vomit. plus id say its more custom to the harder tracks they did.
doesnt really cut it with normal trance. newer above and beyond tracks, and indeed everything off their label has that anjuna sheen, its disheartening. all tracks are samey sounding today.
there has to be a middle ground with whatever this polish is.. check out vercetti - in control. it is high quality but still sounds individual, more acoustic, less produced. made by lange by the way. great track.

I'm sensing a lotta love in this post lol!!!!

chill out guys, life's far too short.......

As for Tyas - he;s a wicked bloke. I;ve met him several times now. His tunes will only ever be the same for as long as peeps keep buying them.

If I was in his position I would do the same as would all of you cause if you tried to change your sound and it didn;t work then say good bye to spinning at massive gigs, travelling the world and being in the scene

A: At the moment, in no order: Thomas Bronzwaer Titan, Doppler Effect Beauty Hides in the Deep (JOC remix), and Talla2xlc vs Sean Tyas Heart to heart (Tyas remix) (SHAMLESS I KNOW!).

what class. the interview even gives him a chance to promote a track and he has to promote another

rubez is the biggest joke this forum has ever seen, perhaps other than lordofbass. lordofbass at least had some style and character, so i would say rubez is far more deserving of a darwin award.

take a look at this thread, then just feel sorry for the guy and ignore him.

i've only read as far as this post (i'm not sure i can take any more) but he seems to be talking far more sense than anyone else from the first few pages. not once has he mindlessly bashed tyas; his crticism has always had reason behind it. yet as usual the over-defensive fuckwits have been out in force pulling the jealousy/success/do-it-yourself cards out left, right & centre. the only reason they haven't had more resistance is because most of us are bored of the subject now

(this is by no means a personal defence of rubez. he's still a bit of a tit)
