I disagree. When you're just playing your own tracks every fucking day "trackselection" pretty much goes out the window.

Deja Vu? I wonder if NU-NRG split in a similar fashion

Dunno about this case as I wasn't there, but Dave plays acapella/vocals over other tracks all the time....from when I've seen him do it, he actually plays the vocals out of a CDDJ and not through ableton...only the music from Ableton.

Dave

Not only do I think that djing with Ableton is boring as fuck, but with two people behind the decks it must be even worse

They, in my opinion, played good songs the night that I saw them. The problem was that none of the songs had any business being in their set at the time they played them. It was almost as if they had a hat and in the hat were pieces of paper with track names written on them and whichever track was pulled from the hat was the track they played and let Ableton beatmatch it together for them.

Official statement from Dave

Now it is official. Dave posted this on his myspace blog a few hours ago.

quote:

rumors, truths, hello

hello friends and fans

some of you may have noticed that i have not checked into myspace at all this year. it has been quite a few troubling months for me and frankly i just didnt know what to say here, but now i can talk freely and participate in the community and so please accept this blog as my grand hello.

yes, the rumor is true. Gabriel & Dresden and parted ways for the time being. Over the past year, Josh and i have been moving apart as artists and we decided rather than milk it and be moderately happy together that we separate and examine ourselves as individual artists for a while. Our final date was the beatport pool party in miami on march 30th. For those who were there, i want to thank each and every one of you for showing Josh and I the love and support that you did. A lot of the set was songs that we have individually been working on interspersed with a few fan favorites. I will remember that hour and 15 minutes forever because i certainly felt the love with all the hands in the air and the well-wishes.

After WMC i went into the hospital to have shoulder surgery. I had a torn rotator cuff and after years of constant dislocations to my shoulder, i wanted to get that out of the way so that i can be 100% when i hit the road in mid-may as a solo artist.

I have also been very busy in the studio with my own music. I made a track with my good friend chris cox back in february called "Hole Wide" - it samples a relatively obscure song from the 80s band tears for fears "advice for the young at heart" and its the kind of feel-good house i have always wanted to make but never did. Some of you may have caught it on pete tongs essential selection show yesterday. if you didnt check out the bbc.co.uk/radio1 site and have a listen to the show. he played it right before the essential new tune.

it will take a few more weeks for me to recover fully from my operation and then i will announce my tour plans.

and for the 1000s of people who have reuested to be my friend, please be patient, i will add all of you.

godspeed,
dave

JOSH GABRIEL - CROSSTALK == NEXT SINGLE!!!!!!!!!

Best part:

quote:

RS: I've heard through the grapevine that there's going to be some changes in your professional life; would you care to elaborate?

Dave Dresden: We both were growing apart as artists. Josh wanted to go in a more tech-ier direction where I'm into making the big vocal anthems with dramatic and emotional changes which we've become well known for.

Translation: Josh wants to try new stuff, I want to keep making shit cheese.

Ladies and gentlemen - let's hear it for Dave Dresden.

Dj tiesto - in my memory (Gabriel and dresden mix) is simply amazing
