probably all of them, unless they're "contract" workers and invoice for work performed.

DJs there have to sign an invoice in order to get paid.

Do they get a T4 though? Signing an invoice just ensures you can't come back and say you didn't get paid. Doesn't say anything about taxes.

It's unfortunate but what's happening because of it is pissing me the fuck off. The people who lost credibility are the cops, and yes, this kids mother and sister, who are lying about the entire situation. They're twisting the details, leaving out important information, and plain-old making shit up to push their agenda forward.

This is what frustrates me the most. I know for a fact that the cops are going to keep coming back over and over again until zone closes its doors. And then they're gonna go through every other club in the city with a reputation, INCLUDING GUV, until the scene is nothing like it was. Everything that the true clubbers/ravers/scenesters (NOT INTERNET FORUM FANATICS) know and love about the Toronto scene is being disrupted.

So back to my point, fuck all the people on here who speculate on shit they don't even know. Go fucking talk about Britney Spears!

Just because you and your friends know who he was doesnt mean you know what happened and what the parents know. It was the disrespect to him and the family that was uncalled for.

I understand the frustration, I have been in the scene long enough as well and woudlnt want it to change and hope they dont go raiding all the other clubs. However I dont know many other places that operate the way zone did. That is my point here.

Maybe there needs to be a disruption, heavy drugs are becoming more prevelant and being used more, why cant people just go to enjoy the music for the music? I am no angel when it comes to that, but I control it and dont need to be super fucked to have the best time. Its the retards that get all super fucked up that are wrecking the scene and giving it a bad name. The people who tell everyone how fucked they really are and gloat about the drugs they are on or use.

I don't know fuck all about you or what you meant hahah How was I supposed to know that you weren't making a comment about the DJ's as well? The DJ's and them being considered "staff" have been brought up numerous times in this thread, go back and fucking read through it if you think I'm losing my mind in my assumption.

RIGHT JAY because there were no fucking drugs at the Montreal forum that night...

last time i was at cz the sound/audio tech guy was doing lines of k off the tables at the silver dollar....sure is doing his job!!!!

Posted by Skipper on Apr-07-2008 23:59:

Personally, I think the increased attention on the scene is worthwhile. Drugs were being used far too openly, people assuming no harm, no foul and just using whenever and wherever they pleased. Many people count on the fact that they can purchase at the club and do so regularly, which encourages clubs to have dealers or people to carry more than they would otherwise. I know of people who regularly bought in bulk and often carried enough to supply everyone, and I hope that changes now. The drugs are never going to go away, but hopefully things can be a little more discreet....and the zone certainly does not fit the definition of discretion, IMO.

Well then why don't you enlighten me with your great knowlege?

If this is really a huge blow to the DJs by losing their CZ set then back it up with facts.

Jon gimmie a break the zone comparison to the pepsi forum? You are really reaching here, I didnt see what goes on in the zone go on in Montreal. If you are implying the drugs made me have a good time? Ha I was barely on anything I was in front the whole time enjoying the show they put on.

Listen, I am not trying to fight with you Jon but seriously stop picking on the little things and see the BIG picture.

As for the sound guy I am sure there are lots of positions out there, I think its Tim right? He works Guvy main room. I didnt say ashamed, but I wouldnt gloat nor would I be proud when that the place I worked in was a drug haven, if my kids were watching of course, sets a bad example, if we are talking about the kids of course. Like I said nit picking.

And please explain to me why I need to prove anything to you? It's ignorant people like you who make this board (as of late) look like a bunch of fucking retards running their mouths on things they obviously have no clue about.

Do I know most of the CZ residents hourly rates at CZ? Yes. Is CZ closing down going to be a blow to their income? Of course it is you fucking twat. The majority of CZ Sunday residents DO NOT have day jobs. I know it's a concept that might blow your mind, but yes, they DJ for a living. They actually depend on that regular Sunday gig to support their income.

Posted by Sasha on Apr-08-2008 00:13:

can we please NOT call any names please? especially if you don't know facts.

cause now if we put PurpleHaze's and Jay's comments together, we get:

Tim, the sound tech from the zone, who also works at the guv, does lines of K inside the Silver Dollar.

Tim doesn't do K and he doesn't really work at the zone anymore (correct me if Im wrong Jon).

I'm sorry, you're so right. There were no drugs at the Pepsi forum that night, Montreal is a fucking drug free city. What the hell was I thinking.

my point was that the DJs, especially the ones who DJ full time have multiple 'jobs' (ie. sets @ different clubs) so losing one of them is not as big of a deal as closing the zone would be to the other CZ 'employees' who probably work there for 24 hours a week.

relax.

hahahah that wasn't your point!

"day-jobs" DOES NOT EQUAL "ie: sets @ different clubs"

I wonder where you work if $1500 or $2000 monthly loss is not a big deal for you.

dude, how old are you and how long have you been in the "scene" for?? the scene has gone through several evolutions and changes...ask the people that partied in the eighties, early nineties...mid nineties..get my drift...? Comfort zone does is not representative of the scene..it is an after hours that has had a much longer run than most..get over it...if it closes down..trust me dude..the scene will not die..there will be another place to replace it....the party will go on....

there is only one place that has never been or never will be replaced in this city..and that is the Industry nightclub..you want to talk about a place that represented this SCENE of ours..well there it is....that was a place to be proud of..

i don't consider myself an internet forum fanatic..i can tell you about some parties that you can only wish you attended...no disrespect but you sound very ignorant..and that is the opposite of what you obvioiusly are trying to achieve with your lecture about the future of "the scene"

Posted by geroin on Apr-08-2008 00:41:

can we please remove this thread off the face of the earth? we have had enough conversation about the zone being busted in the past month, it's time to move on already. Too many clueless "opinionated" degenerates trying to argue about things they don't know anything about. Honestly this place has turned into a retard playground lately especially with some newer members actively participating and expressing their worthless opinions.

I also love the hypocrisy in this thread by many posters mentioning how the cz is a drug heaven and should have been closed long ago yet they do drugs themselves on a regular basis, what a fucking joke.

OMG I'm like soo totally jealous!!

Fuck off! You don't know a goddamned thing about me!

But what I do know is that I'm not alone in the way I feel about this situation. It's the people who disagree with me, obviously, who are the most vocal about it.

I'm done stirring the pot.

I didn't say 1500-2000 isnt a big loss.

If in fact they do get paid $500 for their 2 hour set then this would be about $2000 per month and that is a big deal. However, I doubt many CZ DJs make this much because the place is open for 24 hours on a sunday, and 24 x 250/hour = $6000, and thats a shit-load of money if that is the case....
