I wouldn't plan it for May 17th. That's 2-4 weekend (AKA Victoria Day long weekend). A lot of people will probably be away; if I didn't have to be at some extremely poorly-planned family engagements, I'd be away myself.

Why not do it either the week after, or two weeks before (since the 10th/11th is Mother's Day weekend)?

It's not any harder here than it is everywhere else. There are just a few basic rules to remember:

Hehe, yeah

Let's make it May 24th then. I was initially hoping to do it a bit sooner (sometime around after May 5th as asked for by smuncky), but okay. We'll pick a location and a time to meet.

Oh and to Miki, thanks for being so kind and offering to help me with the planning, reservations and all. I could certainly use some help in that! I'll let you know soon if we manage to decide on a place... I'm hoping it could be somewhere in Toronto (I don't have a car, so it'd be a bit hard for me to get to Mississauga or beyond)

I don't get back from Niagara Falls on the 24th until after dark. This sucks.

lol yeah May 24 weekend typically means at least some family events and such things for people. Hard to make it then. And we can't hold one of these without AJ :P

Hey Diginut or Miki, why don't you guys help me out in planning this whole thing? I'm starting to thing that it really seems impossible to find a date that would accomodate everybody... I guess we'd have to make a roll-call for that like one year ahead! But I'd like to have Andy come too! Why don't we just make this in two parts, first party: May 11th, second party: May 24th... it's up to you to make time for one or the other.

I wouldn't split this up into two separate events, especially not so close together; all it does is guarantee lower attendance at both of them.

Here are the obvious conflicts. You don't want to do it on these weekends:

May 3/4 - School/Exams for some
May 10/11 - Mother's Day Weekend
May 17/18 - Victoria Day/2-4 Long Weekend

AJ can't come on May 24th. Fine. What about the 25th, or the 31st?

Here's my suggestion. Everybody help complete the following table by telling us your availability on as many of the days below as possible. Kamka, you edit this into the first post and keep it up to date. And after a few days, PM people who put themselves on the roll call but haven't posted availability. Once all or most of the names are up, you make the call on when you want to do it. I'll start with my own.

May 10: ??
May 11: ??
May 17: ??
May 18: ??
May 24: DG, ??
May 25: DG, ??
May 31: DG, ??

Also, I'd strongly suggest you first try to decide on a venue, because that may affect some people's ability to come regardless of timing (like I said, I'm not driving out to Etobicoke).
