quote of the century... (lol as if)

- Sorry for the CZ highjack -

The vibe, crowd and music are all UNDERGROUND. Fuck even the setting, it's in the darkest basement I've ever seen in my life. I can't believe I'm actually having to type this lol What else does a club take to be "underground"??

Just because you can recognize songs there (and ps. you're a major fucking exception) that doesn't = mainstream.

yea ur talkin bout skybar rite.....straight up the dj booth should be where the bathrooms are and juss relocate the bathrooms to another part of skyb.....i know its a big job but they can afford it.....
also if they dont bother changing the speakers on the skybar then there better off leaving skybar alone....the sound is the biggest problem up there....no?......

the guv patio was not completed but you can get a general idea of how it will look.
the bar is now and island bar and can serve a lot more people as it is much bigger. there is more seating. it just looks a lot bigger now.
as for skybar, i dont think the dj booth will be relocated but it will be redesigned.

why dont you take a picture of it?

i think the dj booth would be wicked if it was right on top of the washrooms. i also think the reason why the dj booth is not in that spot because it is too close to the street and too much sound would fall on to the sidewalk on queens quay and it would be a noise violation.

lol

line ups for the women's bathroom are out of control up there.....I think if this happened the whole dance floor would be made up of girls waiting to go pee.....

No, I was referring to the patio by the main room.

Posted by RobotHouse on May-04-2008 15:20:

its a bunch of 2x4 benches with no actual seat on them yet and a soon to be bar in the center for the guv ground floor patio.

so just imagine what a do it yourself patio instruction manual diagram would look like like half way through the booklet and there you go.

maybe chinamon can take some snapshots of the parking lot next they get new asphalt too.

Posted by kotsy on May-04-2008 16:31:

the vip area in front of the main room dj booth seems to come and go, perhaps based on the event (I know it wasn't there for angello/ingrosso)

Posted by Jayx1 on May-04-2008 23:15:

For the most part, Skybar has always been posebar. This just seals the deal IMO. And if this helps convert the unwashed hip hop masses and injects some longevity into the scene then perhaps exposure to house will get a lot of ginos to actually do more such as dance rather than twitch their right leg when no ones looking!

they should really make the dj booth in the middle.. i have never seen a dj booth in the middle of any club dance floor. It would also make it equal distance for everyone to see the dj... as well as clear up room for dancing!

that would be different, i would like too see that happen....but i could see alot of djs or management types not liking that idea.....it would be hard for djs to sneak sum "party favors" hahahahaha.....

too many idiots would be breaking the djs balls for requests or even just to become his/her friend. and also idiots might see something they like and try to steal it.

the whole dj booth concept is very much like a stage. they are performing for the clubbers/partiers. when was the last time you went to a concert and the stage was right in the middle and the crowd surrounded it 360-degrees? that would be a disaster.

That's what it was like for Sensation White when I was there :P
haha

But it was on an elevated platform like 15 feet above everyone else, so no need to worry about the DJ's safety...

But it was pretty cool. The Stage continuously rotated all night long...

exactly my point.
it was an event that was a special event. its not something that happens every weekend in a much smaller venue. and look at all the railings and security they had around the booth for that. and with the booth that high up you will definitely hear people on tota complain about how stupidly high the booth way and how the dj thought he was god because of it.

do they run into these problems in the gallery? the booth down there is very approachable. if it were that much of an issue I would assume they'd change the setup

I don't even want to be confrontational, but gallery (which i love to death) compared to the mainroom is a world of difference. I see a fair share of ppl creeping behind the booth or bothering dj's. Usually the dj's are hospitable.

I've heard of stalkers even of the male kind who are legends at guv because of their efforts to do exactly as jay mentioned for a request or friendship. One freak would shout MO's name for like hours a few years ago, when mark used to play up in the nest.

Imagine the sketchies anywhere with a hydraulic dj booth in the middle of the floor. Fucking lawsuits and fatalities waiting to happen.

A hanging dj booth in the middle of the floor would be cool with like an entrance via a spot like skybar and a trapdoor or something to that effect to enter and exit it or a bridged space to enter or exit via delux lounge...anyways i'm playing make belief here so thats my 2 cents.

I agree with you here. That is why I love the smaller rooms because they can get away with intimate dj booths that are right with the crowd.

We had that in KH for a few parties...
