Cool, I have an interview next Monday concerning a possible graduate course in linguistics in Japan, starting in 2009. Personally, I'd love to have the opportunity to eat noodles with you and talk about Sellars, English as a Foreign Language, and possible reasons why you and Tony sport fashionable haircuts

When would you be starting your position? That would be epic. It would be really cool, and somewhat random, if both of us wound up spending a significant time there simultaneously.

And there's just one reason for the haircut m8, so that'd be one short conversation.

That would be cool (and random) indeed

Well, I'll probably go there next March and I'll spend, at least, 3 years there. Nothing is certain, however. I'm applying for a scholarship there, and I've just passed the written exam, and the interview is the final stage. I usually do quite well in these interviews (I've been through this twice already), and the only reason why I haven't gone to Japan yet is because the Japanese government always spoils my fun in the last minute. This time around, however, I'm quite optimistic, because they seldom turn graduate students down.

I'll cross my fingers for both of us then

why would you waste your time with RJT when you could spend your time hunting down big-bossomed asian honeys? talk about wrong priorities. he doesn't even have any decent music to share.

I'll do the same.

If you did head there in March, you'd basically be there the second half of my first year. I'd likely only stay a year, but who knows - that's a long time away. I've also begun applying to a few graduate schools in the Netherlands and then a few out East back here as well, so in the end I really don't know where I'm going to wind up in the next few years.

If I travel, I'll definitely be accomplishing the whole goal I had in going to school.

Well, for one, my break up with my girlfriend was a fiasco, and we ended up getting back together just a couple of hours after we (were supposed to have) parted ways... so I don't think that would be appropriate.

Besides, talking about (Wilfrid) Sellars with him is definitely part of this boobic enterprise, as it is important to find out whether we can know things about perceived breasts independently of and, in some important sense, prior to the conceptual apparatus which we use to perceive the said breasts themselves. Just ask Rob!

oh god. i can just imagine that. just make sure you do it in a japanese titty bar or something, else god might take away your genitals for being such a pair of poncey fags. or end the conversation on a massive rampage of sexual assault; i rape therefore i am!

And believe it or not, outside of coming home for Christmas and possibly going to hike Mauna Loa some time with Myra, one of my highest priorities should I make it the Eastern Hemisphere is to visit PKC in Bumblefuck, Australia, just so I can finally understand why it is he can tolerate such absolute tripe as uplifting trance.

I'm assuming it's because where he is, there's an unlimited amount of room for lasers, allowing one to truly reach for the stars while mouthing the lyrics to the Anthem.

It will be glorious, and then I will finally be able to go back to Japan and play the cheese-cack that's as popular (if not moreso) there as it is here.

Posted by RJT on Jun-24-2008 04:22:

Seriously though, I'd probably try to visit PKC, Jolz, and Sushi, just because for some reason I'll be able to convince myself I'm a quick jog away.

lol @ bumblefuck! haha.

and dont construct your starman against me. just coz the anthem happens to be labelled as uplifting trance doesn't mean i like it (i mean, come on dude!) im much more the MIKE style of beautiful melodies.

im sure if you werent tone deaf you could appreciate it. but that's ok, you still have your rhythm stuff with their one-note phrases

Well, I don't think Japan will be any different from what I'm already used to:

Reunew #1

(besides, my girlfriend's last name is Tanaka, which probably tells you quite a lot about her as well )

For some reason, I always mix up Queensland and New South Wales, and end up thinking that there's a state called New Queensland

Can you confirm whether QLD smells of wee? I heard that, even though Brisbane is not that close to the Equator (I know I'm closer to it than you are), the average temperature there is 55 degrees celsius... in the winter!

I can confirm that it doesn't

That would have to be degrees Fahrenheit. Most winter days are pretty similar to today, which was 21 degrees Celsius (70 degrees Fahrenheit). Night time is colder though.
