it's true, i dj for pussy.

Posted by RJT on Aug-27-2008 20:22:

So another question then - is the change we're discussing really only benefiting record labels and nightclubs/promoters?

And obviously each flavor of the moment producer - but seriously, where's the benefit in any of this for producers or dj's?

That too! Why is that? When did it become a bad thing?

Ya know, what I want to know is, why it became such a bad thing to like Tiesto? I mean, people used to like Tiesto and it was ok. Now if you like Tiesto, it's not so good. Why is that guys?

I hope this question doesn't ruin my legendary status that I'm trying to keep up with here. I just really need to know the answer to this question!

Coz hes making a fortune, he does have good tunes and is a good djay

Big bucks for gigs. More fans. Praise.

Sasha makes a fortune. So does Digweed. Heck, even Howells makes a fortune. Why is it ok to like them?

I meant generally, not for the handful that rise to the top.

because all three actually have some semblance of reasonably good taste imo. The music Tiesto plays and the show he puts on is akin to a Hannah Montana concert in my eyes.

There is just no excuse for something this fucking retarded:

It's not. It's only okay to like artists that are much farther underground, like Dubfire.

Posted by RJT on Aug-27-2008 20:28:

Also, thanks heaps to the surprising number of people who've taken this seriously. Been entertaining to read a lot of the posts in here.

Posted by RJT on Aug-27-2008 20:29:

And anyone who thinks it's "not OK" to like an artist or musician strikes me as so insecure in their own tastes that it's a problem.

If someone else not liking something offends you, you really need a lobotomy.

Yeah but it's not even ok to like Dubfire anymore. Why? Where is this line that keeps getting drawn and separating what is ok to like and what is not ok to like?

Clovis, obviously people enjoy what Tiesto does and the show he puts on. What makes them wrong for having a good time and Tiesto for providing them a good time?

Because they brought out some bangin tunes?

I would think you could still reach financial freedom even with residential status or some semi-successful releases , no? I'm just talking out of my ass, but I would think so.

But I would also think some these guys NOT on the top you speak of; they do it for the love of music and the pleasure it gives them. You should know that.

A lot of people enjoy what Tiesto has made or currently makes. They sell like hot cakes!

Trancecrackers have their opinion and minimal hipsters have theirs. I think the problem you're having is separating discussions of general opinion with your own insecurities in regards to your own taste.

Because half of those people don't know what else is out there. Simple as that. They just buy whatever it's fed to them.

Do you have a wikipedia link to back up your claim?

It doesn't make them wrong at all. I just think they have really bad taste in music, and do not at all have the same relationship with electronic music as I do.

Posted by Guest on Aug-27-2008 20:37:

I would fight Tiesto

Why do people who think like that have to make it known then? For example, you think they have bad taste in music. Fine. So what makes you, for example, feel the need to even let them know that?

Have you ever had a conversation (regardless of bashing or not) with a Tiesto fan about Howells? Now let's reverse it.

Get it? Ignorance.

What is Music Discussion for, exactly?

I'm just going to assume you have had thousands of these types of conversations and take your word for it. I mean, there is no way that someone who likes Tiesto can like or even know who Howells is!
