hmm...legal investigations, topless photos, support of the Alaskan INDEPENDENCE PARTY, teenage pregnancies...great choice McCain.

Anyone who defends this selection now is only doing so because they've argued themselves into a corner and simply can't get out without looking like an idiot.

^so true...

These elections are a mockery to Politcs and UNited states as a whole. Argue me if you will the constant surprises seem to edge on the average population, while the intellects are left in awe.

This election has become a gender and race...well, race! With Obama controlling the Black population, Hillary controlling many white collared women and hispanics. And McCain...well i don't know about who he's controlling! the white midwest, or south population?

Since when does politics have anything to do with race. The main reason Obama is up there is because he is Black. and thats not being racist or prejudice...it's being observant.

And then comes McCain, oh the great McCain. Why did he choose a amateur?

Palin is young and under qualified...
She has governed the great state of alaska...all 700,000 of those great alaskans. What an achievement...The largest and most sparsely populated state is governed by this great women who before her "accomplishment" controlled a city with a whopping 7000 people... My university student council had more power then she had!

But we can't blame McCain can we? He is a Robot following commends from little devils on his shoulders known as democratic senators. They need the women vote or what? thats the only excuse i can see.

McCain is old, on of the oldest ever. If he were to die, would america be left with an inexperienced, young, attractive lady from the great state of alaska? Oh how the world would like to see that, Like a Lion ready to leap at a baby buffalo after it's mom has left it alone!

the lion will be ready i tell you, So should you!

What an embarrassment this is turning out to be.
The rumors about her 5 month old baby not actually being hers have some meat to them - CBC ran a pretty eyebrow raising story last night on it.

Unreal.

Where are the pathetic supporters of this pick now?

What a complete fucking joke McCain's selection has become. I hope the Republican's entire campaign burns in flames from this point forward. The American press is already reporting that Obama's numbers are up big in a few battleground states.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee who revealed Monday that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, earlier this year used her line-item veto to slash funding for a state program benefiting teen mothers in need of a place to live. After the legislature passed a spending bill in April, Palin went through the measure reducing and eliminating funds for programs she opposed. Inking her initials on the legislation -- "SP" -- Palin reduced funding for Covenant House Alaska by more than 20 percent, cutting funds from $5 million to $3.9 million. Covenant House is a mix of programs and shelters for troubled youths, including Passage House, which is a transitional home for teenage mothers. According to Passage House's web site, its purpose is to provide "young mothers a place to live with their babies for up to eighteen months while they gain the necessary skills and resources to change their lives" and help teen moms "become productive, successful, independent adults who create and provide a stable environment for themselves and their families." Palin's own daughter, Bristol, is five months pregnant and has plans to wed. "Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family," Palin said in a statement released by the McCain campaign. "We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi's privacy, as has always been the tradition of children of candidates." Earlier today the Associated Press reported that Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, opposed funding to prevent teen pregnancies, a position that Palin also took as governor. "The explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support," she wrote in a 2006 questionnaire distributed among gubernatorial candidates. Reporters asked McCain in November 2007 whether he supported grants for sex education in the United States, whether such programs should include directions for using contraceptives and whether he supports President Bush's policy of promoting abstinence. "Ahhh, I think I support the president's policy," McCain said.

wow that was the worst fuckin speach eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever. It was full of nonsense and propaganda.Sadly the fact remains that many will end up voting for her this election.

Voting for Sarah Palin...

Isn't it like voting for Britney Spears' mom?

Same sh!t, different pile, no?

Posted by echo_12 on Sep-04-2008 03:44:

R.I.P. McCain

Committing political suicide is worse then genocide...or the same thing!

the equation McCain= x Palin= y America= n terrorist= t

x+y=n #=4(years) #-x=y=n
y=n
thus t=n-x
n-x=y
thus t=y
therefore Palin as Pres equals boooooom there goes the state and boooom there goes the world and booooom Einstein was correct
wwiv will be fought with sticks and stones...

it was just fear mongering, doubt raising and outright attacks with an obvious and off putting amount of sarcasm. Obama isn't qualified to do this, he isn't qualified to do that, he doesn't care about the country or terrorism, he's gonna raise taxes (this is CLEARLY NOT TRUE but I'm sure we'll keep hearing the same rhetoric all the way until election day), etc...basically typical Republican tactics.

I would like to think (and am starting to suspect) that a lot of Americans are going to see past it this time. In her speech, Palin offered nothing in terms of actual ideology or policy initiatives, just like John McCain hasn't offered anything substantial.

She might have rallied the so called "Republican base" (and judging by the makeup of that convention, it's no base I'd belong to) and it might have looked impressive on TV, but I have serious doubts as to whether she's going to win much support for McCain. Republican strategists are already predicting she'll only campaign in the "safe" areas of Republican support, mostly in rural communities, an obvious sign of her poor readiness to take on presidential duties.

I really can't help but laugh when I watch these right wingers get together and go on about how great they are. It is high comedy.

They provided to solution or plans AT ALL.Yet the claim they are the party of "change"....

lol in regards to Obama raising the taxes,he wants to raise taxes on people who make 200K or more and since more of these Repulicans know that they are the ones who will have to pay the price for it that idea simply scares them.

Exactly all they do is make the other party look like the bad guy and nothing else. How about the economy?why havent we heard any plans from the Republican party in the last 3 days regarding the economy?

That crowd was a fuckin disaster,it was scary in a way.

Have you noticed that there is media blackout on all the massive protests that are happening right now?I cant believe how anyone is hardly paying any attention to it.I guess there is nothing wrong with the country and no reason to protest about.

so many lefties think obama is a shoe in. Ill laugh if and when mccain wins. Even if obama happens to win its not the cakewalk that the arrogant left has thought it would be. Without a teleprompter, there really isnt much to obama. Its almost embarrassing how he stumbles through interviews when he actually has to talk about topics.

While I agree with you in part (this will not be the cake-walk for Obama, and he is terrible when not scripted) the sad truth is that American Presidents are elected on image more then substance. As long as the Dems can keep the media on their side and the media ratchets up the Obamamania then he'll eek out a victory... not because he's the better candidate or has the better policies (I'm not saying that's true or not, just that it doesn't actually matter) but because he looks and sounds better on TV.

Or maybe I'm just overly cynical.

Posted by Jayx1 on Sep-04-2008 20:31:

If people actually listen to the policies that obama would implement (that is when he actually gets around to talking about them after maultiple exhausting "change" speeches) it's actually quite scary. Obama's policy would further harm an already damaged economy. Obama says he will open the free trade debate. I doubt he will because that means we can renegotiate our oil and water rights. Furthermore, obama has used the same image and policy consultant as none other than dalton mcguinty. Need i say more?

Jay it is obvious that both parties have their own agenda's.The republican agenda however is just down right scary.

You touched on the Democrats economic plans.I would like to see what the Republicans have in mind?and what they have to offer?so far in the last 3 days they havent said a word about economy. All I heard is DRILL DRILL DRILL as far as their energy plan goes.

if you *actually* believe that anyone will open up NAFTA, regardless of the rhetoric, you're nuts.

it's all b.s. talk meant to woo voters who've been hit hard by the economic downturn and NAFTA is an easy target. Didn't some CPC gov't clown say so themself?

Pallin erased many criticisms and concerns from within her own party with that simple, often-quoted line of not going to Washington to gain the favour of journalists, but to represent the people.

brilliant piece of speech writing that *definitely* did not come from her.

she sounds like white trash, to be honest
