i dont think so, your just one of the many citizens that believes that if something is legal its okay to do. Alcohol is legal but does it mean its good for us? even though british research has discovered that alcohol can be worse for you than extacy.

there are 2 reasons people defend the comfort zone

1. you are a huge fuckin wanker and you have not been able to gain popularity and friendships in the real clubbing world so youve moved to the world of CZ

or

2. You think you are the fuckin shit because you go to CZ for whatever reason most likely you beelive that somehow your musical knowledge and taste makes you superior to those who only attend normal clubs. you extend that to beleive that if you dont go to this particular club to hear these particular djs then you are not cool/elite/whatever/douche.

^^^^ what a fantasy world you guys live in, im sorry

Heres an experiment.

Go to CZ:
turn the music off, turn the lights on, and take a look around

Go to a bunch of other clubs:
turn the music off, turn the lights on, and take a look around

to the people who say there would be no difference in those 2 cases....

all i have to say is taht using the handle "ChemEnhanced" to defend comfort zone...

Posted by Flec on Oct-28-2008 19:47:

oh ya and if you want to argue about the reasons/effects/issues in terms of legality of drugs/alcohal/burger king

if that was truly what you wanted to do, you wouldnt be having an argument over CZ staying open or closed, becuase that issue would be irrelevent compared to arguing over the legality of certain drugs in gerneral.

hmmm, I fit into neither category; I defend the zone because the idea of the city closing down a business due to the desirability (or lack thereof) of it's customers is downright frightening.

1. Have I once in this thread given my opinion as to whether or not I even like the club?

2.

edit

the argument here has nothing to do with drugs....it has to do with somebody saying they don't want something in their neighbourhood because some clients that come in do bad things.

shut down the whole city....people do bad things everywhere.

I bet there is more drugs in my office building at this very moment then what the police found on the floor of the CZ the other day.

Posted by Flec on Oct-28-2008 19:57:

no they are saying they dont want business being run that are knowingly... and potentially even pushing illigal activities.

defintly not the same thing as people doing stupid things int he middle of the road or wathever.

the point here is that CZ allows for an area of law breaking. which laws get broken ( whether they are drug related or not) is not an important question, because only the fact that they break the laws is enough for the closure of their business to be shut down.

if you want to argue wheather drug use in the seen is too much or not, or if drugs are bad for you or not, different questions, either way they are illigal right now, and until we change those laws, we have to respect the fact that ALL business must follow ALL the laws, and we cant simply call those laws stupid or immmoral or whatever because we have some sort of personal attachment too business;s that break those laws.

well considering you work for a big company that most liekly has extensive rules and regulations about this sort of thing, if shit hit the fan in your company im sure someone would have to take the blame for it, and it would most liekly be the drug users taking the fall, and if they got away with it, the managers who let them get away with it would get fired.

compare that to the comfort zone which pays off the police so that they can allow these rules to be broken.

there is such a huge difference between the situations even though youve made them appear to be equal. in one case it is the individuals who are breaking the laws, in the other case it is the business that is breaking the laws

Not good.

First of all, many people have already gone back to partying in abandoned warehouses partially due to the lack of venues in Toronto. But I have to say that personally, I usually feel safer in a sketchy warehouse party than a sketchy club party. It's a completely different crowd and strangers do try to look out for strangers (although most people tend to know each other anyhow).

Less security?... well nine times out of ten there's actually no security (and no ems for that matter). With that said, the DIY spirit usually attracts at least a few responsible individuals. I went to one party where a girl may have been ODing. So, the party was temporarily shut down while some individuals (and party organizers) called 911 and took the girl to ems on the street nearby. After the coast was clear, the party continued.

At these kinds of parties responsible people are generally just fine. I haven't seen a fight or even rude pushy people like at clubs. Though I've never been to CZ I've heard of some pretty bad things going down there there including a complete disregard for human life (please prove me wrong). Is there really an "OD room"?

But I'll give you fire hazards...considering I've seen fire poi inside abandoned buildings lol

my apologies, not meant to be taken so personally

Posted by LittlePoonzgirl on Oct-28-2008 20:16:

Now that I think of it, I really hope the zone and all of the other sketchy clubs stay open

Keeps the underground parties from getting too big and being busted

You know what???

I have my own reasons for the Zone being dead to me...So I'm not going to defend it...

But everything you've said....Makes you sound like a complete moron...

And your grammar is deplorable...

Posted by VERTiG0 on Oct-28-2008 20:21:

I must admit that I have only enjoyed about half of the times I've been at CZ. The times I didn't have fun were times where people were so incredibly fucked up that it was like watching a bus full of nuns t-bone a cattle truck in slow motion. I just hate seeing people in that state.

As it is, I wouldn't care if CZ closed down. The place really is a disgusting shithole.

But I'll be damned if the tunes aren't incredible almost all of the time.

LOL ... i don't think the business will close becuase of Skipper's opinion ... is it okay for people to speak out and express themselves freely? so what that she doesn't like CZ, I've noticed that it's hard to have your own opinion over here.

As for what I think ... if the cops and the city actually manage to close CZ, it ain't gonna stop just there, they'll find a new venue to pick on, there are larger problems to deal with, I don't get why cops are raiding clubs, when they should be hunting for drunk drivers
