Hey, now that wouldn't be a bad idea!

"So, you know, like, I wouldn't ever hit on you, right? Ever! And the weather is so unbearably hot! What I want to tell you is that... you don't mind if I just walk around naked, do you? You can do that too, if you want. I mean, you don't have to, if you don't feel like it, but wouldn't that be awesome? We would be known as the naked flatmates! We'd be so intimate there would be nothing to hide. Like, hiding bodies is bad. Not in a criminal sense, I've never hid a body other than my own, I mean. But, yeah, huh?"

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK AND SEX IN THE HOLE!

Well I will say I'm by no means experienced in the relationship business (I've only had one previous girlfriend), but I will say that I think everyone is being too harsh. Because if she likes me she's not just gonna say "oh sorry now we're friends and it's too late". I mean come on, can't anyone agree that if I make a move and get shut down, it will make both of our lives super awkward. But I guess after that point, maybe we'd just stop hanging out and be strictly acquaintances. The idea of a relationship is inhibited by how close we really are.
And maybe it sounds arrogant, or I'm way off, but I don't see how she could spend literally every moment of our last two days off with me, and make plans about stuff we'll do in the future, and not like me. That would be weird, no? Or does she really just think I'm a good friend by now? I guess I'll find out.

I will agree, though that I should do something soon. We are going partying for her birthday on the 15th. Good excuse to kick things off with a birthday kiss.

horrible idea. if things go sour, it'll make her whole birthday experience super awkward. dude i think it's too late for u, 1 month is way too long in a girl's book especially when she's spent that whole month living 5 feet away from you with nothing happening. you're like a big cuddly harmless puppy in her eyes right now. At this point, my best advice to you is to watch how she acts toward when you when you're both drunk. Pay close attention, because if she likes you, that'll come through when she's drunk (she'll give you very tight hugs, try to single you out for conversations over drinks, all that good stuff). But if you're getting about as much love from her as her girlfriends, you're safe & sound in the platonic boat.

sorry to hijack the thread but aren't you from the old raversnet?

keep it up OP. don't listen to anyone here. the more you live together without intimacy the more sweet the intimacy will be after you burst (what a great anime series)

When I was single, I had one particular friend who spent the night at my house EVERY NIGHT for months at a time, and we'd spoon.

Nothing EVER happened between us. And nothing ever will. We're each others type, and now are bff, but we were just non-sexual companions.

Basically, a couple without all the good stuff.

But no seriously - spooned every damn night, never ended up even kissing.

LOL!

I recently made the same type of friend, it's really cool in a weird way

That's my theory man. Like eventually it won't make sense for us not to be intimate. It should just be the next natural step.

And about the guy who said 1 month is way too long in a girl's book. Remember it's not like I've been going on dates for one month. She didn't move in to get a boyfriend. She moved in because she couldn't find any other place in town, and I wasn't about to make her regret moving in, 1 week later when we hardly know each other and I'm trying to get on her. By now we know each other pretty well, and we know that our personalities and ideas of fun are pretty close.

And about her being drunk...well we've went out 3 times drunk together. the first time we ditched everyone we were with and went dancing at a different club, the second time it was just the two of us that went out all night, and then last night when we went out with a bunch of people, but still ended up spending the whole night together and wandering off through town on our own at the end of the night. That all sounds pretty positive to me. I don't want to be "just another guy who hits on her at the bar". In fact last night she was using me to dance close to her and our other friend, whenever dudes started creeping on them. She ended up falling asleep on me for a half hour for the bus ride home. I really can't figure out then, when would be a good time to do something. I'm a pretty chilled-out guy so I live by the "just let it happen" approach, which can be good and bad.

Hahahaha. Friend zone lol. You're fucked mate.

What are you going to do when she brings some guy home? I mean, she's your friend right? It'd be pretty rude if you didn't give up the room for the night so she can enjoy herself, with that dude.

Posted by daphunky1 on Dec-06-2008 13:03:

Ya dude. That would be terrible.
But the only times she goes out to get drunk is when she's made plans that always involve me. Like we already know we are going out next monday, thursday, and the next monday. you don't make plans with only one other person unless you really like being aorund them. So maybe that does mean that she's being pretty "obvious" and it's up to me to make the next move.

LOLOL Yes you do! Especially if you've got no one else to hang out with! And if there's no one better! But then once someone you actually would want to date comes around, your "special" time gets cuuuuuuuut off. With a quickness.

Kr00t, aren't you engaged? I'd be PISSED if my fiance developed that kind of friend while we were engaged! or dating. or married!

Posted by boris_the_bear on Dec-06-2008 15:05:

OP, just do what your heart tells you to do. people are so fucking cynical nowadays. maybe I'm just to emo but it's great you are so close together yet not crossing the line. it's something a lot of people have forgotten now, it's called romance and you're going to enjoy recalling all those sweet days spent together like crazy.. don't rush, don't be a casual walking dick. you did not have strict intentions to screw her so why regret not doing it every day? enjoy the moment

cuddle bitch

(n) a guy who never gets to sleep with a girl but gets to have intimate moments with her like cuddling, spooning, or otherwise being affectionate. This guy makes up for the lack of intimacy in that females relationship.

That poor guy is being used as a cuddle bitch, when will he see he is being used?

"John is so gay, he thinks he is pimp but he is just her cuddle bitch"

Girl: "After I visit my Fuckbuddy, I can swing by my Cuddle bitch's house to sleep"

What else would you expect on a forum? It's de rigeur on the net to project tough-minded worldliness when it comes to relationships. Who knows whether people are really as "together," experienced, and free of romantic illusions as they like to portray themselves.

lol massive friend zone pwn...the worst part is the spoon friend zone is usually reserved for gay friends, so that says a lot about how she views you sexually...ie:she doesn't.

Posted by Thierry on Dec-06-2008 23:47:

Sounds like you're in the friend zone but there is a possibility for more.. IF YOU MAKE A DAMN MOVE!!! I don't think this will be one of those times where it'll naturally progress into something more, you gotta do something about it. I would actually make a move BEFORE her bday celebration or whatever. That way if things work out, then it'll be a better birthday with you there and if it doesn't work out, then that tension for you won't be there anymore and it can just be 2 friends partying.

Reminds me of a friend of mine. She told me she was flabbergasted when a friend of hers said he loved her. I can clearly remember her words:

I never thought he'd say something like that to me. He was my greatest friend. Ever. I'd change clothes in front of him, he'd sleep over at my place, and I thought that was all there was to it. A guy that I could feel comfortable with. Whenever I think of us naked in front of one another, I always picture him flaccid. Because, you know, there was no tension between us. Or so I thought.

Forgot to share that. I met her in my freshmen year at uni.

Posted by Dervish on Dec-07-2008 00:01:

Yeah but guys can have (girl) friends who you have that nagging "hope she doesn't see anything happening" thing too. Not just the other way round.

what happened between them?

Posted by elFreak on Dec-07-2008 00:11:

she ended up moving in with a weirdo she just met and put him in the friend zone hard.

if you guys are spooning, something would have happened by no if you had balls or she wanted it.

Well, the story is quite amusing, to such an extent it seems made up. But, here's what she told me:

She was a trouble teen: did drugs, hang out with the "bad guys" and sniffed glue when she was bored. And, she befriended this cuddly punk rocker. They became bff and she did all these things I mentioned. One night, as she was coming back from the club, the guy ran after her and told her to wait. He said he had been in love with her since he met her, but he never had the guts to tell, because he was afraid she would run away. She stood there, flabbergasted, shocked and feeling betrayed. She couldn't believe the guy she saw as the most genuine of all friends on Earth actually wanted to bang her. She told him to give her a minute, and she literally ran away. They stopped hanging out after that. She met some guy who happened to be a jerk and started going out with him.

Incidentally, 3 years later, the opposite happened: we met, she broke up with this jerk and, soon after, she told me she loved me. I jokingly told her I loved her too. She said I didn't understand, and I told her no one had ever said that to me before. Well, not in Portuguese.

Nothing happened between us, as it was my turn to walk away. She got back to that jerk later and, last I heard, she broke up with him again.

...

I think I should write a book about all this. It's too weird to be real.
