I got upset at the gender business and had to stop reading. I hate that stupid argument: we are only different because of social constructs. Absolute BS.

Doesn't take a feminist to figure that one out.

people dont stare at her like she was a piece of meat cause they're fucking high and their eyes cant focus, thus they can see fuck all. but as soon as that fuckedupness is gone....

- trippin' balls for 3-4 hours
- coming down, first coherent thoughts are:
1. whoah that (insert drug of choice here) was fucking awesome
2. im gonna take some mo.. GODDAMN LOOK AT THEM TITS !!!!
- doing the moonwalk towards her

true story. happened to me many a times, and not just me. admit it you bastards !!

for the music my ass. you ever seen a girl breakdance, and do it good(cause thats the hottest thing in the whole world, hotter than a bowl of fuck)?? 10% of us are looking at her and appreciate the moves while the other 90% stares at her like she was a piece of meat. what you dont know is that 140% of us wanna stick it up her ass. and its not demeaning or objectifying or whatever you wanna call it, its just the nature of things.

goddamned plur. ITS A TRAP!!

shit male djs dont get far either so its all fair

True, but shit male DJ's who spin music that caters to the likes of the city def do get further. A shitty (or even just decent) house or electro DJ in this city will get many more opportunities to spin than one who spins ANYTHING hard (eg. hardstyle, hardcore, hard trance, etc), even if the harder-style DJ's are technically way better, more experienced, and more everything. Brutal..

and even then...

a DJ is like pennies today. you'll find them everywhere

no matter how talented you might be, unless you have connections, you'll never get that start to show your talent
well, helps if you got a huge group of friends willing to get drunk at your gigs

Posted by Raverob on Feb-10-2009 00:46:

Yeah of course, but thats pretty much true of absolutely everything in life...connections. Not grades or smarts...just connections. And I don't think that EVERYONE is a DJ these days. Its just that some ppl use the term so loosely that basically anyone who likes music and has the ability to digitally cut and paste 2 tracks together calls themeself a DJ. Being a real DJ takes a significant financial investment combined with constant practice, variety, and an ability to be social and make the right connections.

Just got home.

This thread is too long, yet has the potential for great humour.

Would someone be so kind as to post the Coles notes version of pages 1 - 10?

kthxbye

P.S. - You're damn right I'm that lazy! lol

And this is the same sad tale I've been telling for the last couple of years....

The gist...

A big RAWWWWWW for feminism was the start....

Then...

1. Top 40 clubs are drinking and meat market bars

2. EDM events are not

and this is news to who?

I didn't see any reason to include all the feminist garbage prior to talking about her House Music Adventures....unless we are missing something from the facebook page.

And then we had some thing about male and female DJ's...

I posted the sexy Niki Belucci...

Other female DJ's were mentioned...

bla bla...

Well, to be serious for a moment, it's not like women in other professions don't use don't use their sexuality to their advantage as well. It's just not as overt because, well, people aren't high on drugs, lololol. There's more to the message there, I'm just too lazy to articulate in an intelligent manner. Carry on.

I don't get what the drugs have to do with it.
If you're serious about being a professional DJ, you care more about coming off as professional to the promoters/organizers than the patrons. Even if the promoters are high, it doesn't mean the next day they think back about the DJ they booked and excuse being a retard just because they themselves were fucked up.

If she wants equal rights then she should tell all the sexy bitches who walk up to the beginning of each line, flirting with the doormen to take a back seat. And not to mention refuse all the free comps doormen give to them.

Girls say they want equal rights but when it comes down to it, they all know they've done something prior using their looks or position.

Funny but your acting like men don't pull the same around woman who were in a position of power....

Please don't assume men don't shag, flirt or lie to their female superiors(oxymoron????) for their benefit (aside from busting a nut)

Clearly this does not apply in the club security industry, but you get my point.

You must not go out much. I see girls "hounded" at every club I go out to, every single time.

Not once, have I thought to myself Wow get me outta here, I cant believe people have fun in this place.

Wait until you pass the honeymoon phase.

What draws many people to this scene (and what drew myself to it a long time ago) is the feeling that you have the freedom to be who you want to be. Although I don't agree with everything you said, I think that what you are feeling is a manifestation of the perception of that freedom.

Yeah that's cool I understand that too. However, the whole first section and the points she uses to back-up her feminist views on how men & women are segregated in society is just bull.

Sure, I think that much more needs to be done in other parts of the world where woman barely have any rights. But the constructs she uses is what seperates us!

For F*** sakes, men have a penis for a reason and women have a vagina for a reason. We're different.

Men and Woman are different as simple as that...

I'm not saying that Women and Men should be treated different in terms of social equality but the difference is there for every other aspect.

and not only that but all aspects of reality are socially constructed... not just the constructs she describes.

All the power to social equality but not to the stupid social constructs she is talking about.

Couldn't agree more.

On a more serious note, I think some people earlier in this thread are needlessly bashing the girl. Her opinion isn't exactly malicious. She just had some well thought out ideas about the scene that she wanted to write down on paper and share. Although not many of you agree with her (and there's a lot I don't agree with either), I don't see many of you taking the time to analyze and write about what you think about the scene.

Just because she's newer to partying, doesn't mean that those of us who have been partying longer should be discounting her opinion solely because of that fact.

For whoever wrote this, thanks for taking the time to write it. I enjoyed reading it.
