I came at 15 min just before 8 or so, only ran into Matt, some of his friends, saw Graham, said hello, and just stayed in relatively the same spot all night. :P

"In search of sunshine..."

Enjoyed the tunes, company and sunshine for a few hours. Bailed at sunset cause it was too cold and windy by then. Quite a large crowd on the beach, grass and hillside.

So glad to be back at Cherry Beach again. Thanks Platform.

went from zone to cherry beach at 530. parking was nuts, all the spots were filled and there was a parade of cars making the circuit over and over again. not to mention the mass number of cars lined up along curbs under no parking signs....i unfortunetly fell into this trap thinking "its beach parking, meh". left at 920pm but got a parking ticket at 9:04pm for $105!!!! So be warned whoever goes there and does the same, i saw about 20 other cars with tickets and im sure there were lots more.

washroom was a bit of a hike but i enjoyed the fries at the food vendor next to it.

skkkkeeeeetttcchhhhh = cherry beach. Reminded me of the weed march, where do these people go during the day? Half of them were too ugly to be zone regulars...yea freaky shit. And what was with the numerous children running around? I know it was a sunny day but it doesnt sit right seeing a mom and dad with big shades on, bulky sweaters carrying a 7 year old through the crowd :S What if that man in the tree fell on them?

but the set up was pretty cool, first time there adn wasnt at all what i was expecting. Meh times because of the cold, but i can see this being an epic sunday paradise on hot sunny days!

nice meetin some new TAs and seeing tonnes of familiar faces Happybirthday jackie + Sarah (who couldnt make it to the beach)!!

Hah just remembered turning around and seeing that one GGIIIAANNT bon fire and people playin with poi around it, pretty cool sight along the water.

Bring lots of mosquito repelent next time!!!

Some highlights:

- being chased by a flock of seagulls
- red and green power rangers
- blueberries
- sasquatch people
- a multicolored power ranger giving birth to a primary color on the road
- "Ursala" the large water demon covered in toilet paper with her band of queer followers
- a kung fu battle between a "monkey" and a mountain climber
- the "parade"
- Shamu sightings

Didn't really get a chance to jam to the tunes, but they made great background music to our adventure. Left after it got dark.. couldn't deal with the thought of what kind of sketch would be seen if the daylight was scary enough. LOL.

Don't think I'll be back at cherry beach for a while, sadly.

Man, you seriously missed out. It was like raw techno madness.

I'm never missing a cherry beach party again.

I wouldn't have called the crowd "sketchy". Sure there were some fucked up people, but it was nothing, and normally is nothing compared to The Guv or The Zone. In fact, the people who make it sketchy are the people who come back from Guv or Zone with no sleep or shower.

The only reason why most of you out of towners find it "sketchy" is because you're from suburbs or cities where everyone wears the same clothes and look the same. You're scared because you don't fit into the cookie cutter crowd that you're used to.

To all those Cherry Beach newbs criticizing the crowd for being too sketchy, remember that this crowd has been there long before you, so don't criticize.

I agree on all fronts......I didn't find the crowd overly sketchy...

I thought the crowd was decent...there was definitely a mix of people and yes, there were some bohemian types with kids/babies..I don't see anything wrong with that...it's an outside event that i liken to a festival athmosphere..not every EDM event has to be a la guvy and footwork..

interesting accusations.

Were we at the same party? LOL

Like literally, we sat on the hill and died laughing at all the sketch going on.

Like there may have been more non sketch people than sketch. but there was no shortage of sketch.

Posted by nifty narcotix on May-20-2009 16:29:

I sat on the hill too after it got dark, and saw plenty of sketchies too. Crowd seemed a lot better though on the actual beach and by the bonfire.

I tend to agree. It wasn't -dangerous- (at least for the spectators) but it was sketchy enough.

I almost died, I was walking through the bushes and a giant bug flew right down my throat, I choked it up but felt the bits and peices in my esophagus for minutes afterward. I could have died.

All in all a great day, great peeps and great tunes, Nittin killed it.

T'was cold but its Canada.

lol where did THAT come from? Yeah, I never EVER see people wearing stuff that isn't the typical norm, because I'm umm...not from Toronto

I'm pretty sure I can tell when someone is messed up by the way they are almost falling over people, wearing shorts and a t-shirt even though it's fackin freezing, while in bare feet in the cold sand dancing in the same spot for 3 hours like this one girl was. There were several people I saw like that, it had nothing to do with what they were wearing, that's not why they were sketchy, it had to do with what they were actually doing lol. We've all seen sketchy people at clubs obviously screwed up on something, it's not very hard to spot lol.

weelll..i didn't want to say anything but....

you weren't too bad...

Posted by The Highroller on May-20-2009 17:57:

A lot of people in this thread are making it sound a lot worse than it actually was. Those people are making it sound like Cherry Beach is abnormally sketchy in comparison to other places where similar music is played in this city.

I am bothered by the use of the word "sketchy" to describe the regular Cherry Beach crowd. Although there were a good number of messy people there on Sunday, I think we can all agree that Cherry Beach doesn't hold a candle to how messy Guv, Circa or CZ is on any given weekend. I think what shocks Cherry Beach newbs is not that the crowd is overly messy, but that the regular Cherry Beach crowd tends to be quite bohemian. It seems that some of you are not used to this, so you paint them with the overused brush that is called "sketchy".

In my opinion, the recent influx of the Guv, Circa, CZ crowd at Cherry Beach is making the place more "sketchy" for obvious reasons.

Sure, there are lots of antics and things that you may not be used to seeing, but don't just start coming to a place with a well-established crowd and criticize them without making any attempt to understand them.

Posted by Espresso on May-20-2009 18:44:

Thank goodness finally someone said it and he nailed it right on the head.

The CZ crowd calling the Cherry Beach crowd sketchy? Pot, meet kettle.

Posted by Adamo on May-20-2009 18:49:

I think i was dancing behind you for a while but i couldn't really tell...were u drinking a box of wine?(highroller)

and yeah....people who cant handle being around weirdos must be too insecure cuz for me it just adds to the entertainment. Within 5 feet of me on all sides were a G monkey, a pilled up indian tripping over garbage can, a man dancing up in the tree and that obese girl wrapped in toilet paper with her crew of homos...but did i care? NO! cuz the raw fucking techno was the only thing on my mind making me dance in the cold. Got there 7ish...left at Midnight and it was still going....fun fun fun!
