Dear Big House ticket holders,
It is with a heavy heart that we are writing this letter to you. As of 10am on Thursday, June 04, 2009 the Ontario Realty Corporation, an arm of the provincial government and the agency that controls the Old Don Jail has canceled our event on Friday, June 5, 2009 and ALL other events for the Old Don Jail in the near future. To say that we are devastated is an understatement. Many people, including the promoters, artists and agency that refurbished the Old Don Jail for events over the past 3 months have dedicated thousands of hours to creating a truly amazing and memorable event. In the combined 20+ years and 1000s of parties organized and promoted by those involved, this is the FIRST event in our history that has been completely canceled.
We want to assure all of you that we, along with Bridgeport Health and the company refurbishing the venue are working with our legal teams to come up with a solution to satisfy the province and allow events in the future. It is our opinion that our legal efforts will be rewarded sometime soon and we will obtain a new date. With that in mind we encourage you to hold onto your tickets for at least two weeks as we work through the process. As many of you know, this event sold out in a matter of days and we would obviously want those that supported us from the start to have the opportunity to attend the make-up date. That said, we want to make sure that you all know that your hard earned ticket money is safe. We completely understand that some of you may want to obtain refunds on your tickets immediately and have instructed the ticket outlets to offer those refunds as of tomorrow (June 5). Please note that you must return your ticket to the store you purchased it from as the stores can only refund tickets numbered for their respective locations.
Once again, we sincerely apologize for this turn of events and will keep you updated as to the progress of the case.
Sincerely,
Ryan, Jesse, Evan and Josh.

This is sad news as it discourages promoters (yet again) to take risks in this city on creative/new venues... Hopefully the party will find a future date and be even MORE hype...

Time to crash an abondoned warehouse.. party like its 1992... tear the place apart... get tossed in jail and party with real inmates.
Why exactly did the city step in? I'm curious to know what their reasoning is.
As soon as you see your city councilor, throw some eggs, and let them know that they are morons.
Sorry to hear this but I'm now surprised..
Let's have another IDance..
It wasn't the city that pulled the plug, it was the Ontario Realty Corporation.
Various parties have lawyers involved and are trying to get this sorted out. It's clearly not fair of them to do this when everyone else has given it the green light, and so many have invested so much time and money into everything. We'll keep you updated as things progress!
So is Matteo DiMarr playing at footwork?

FW should be letting people for free...I know it's not your fault, but I think it would be the right thing to do..come on
I am glad I didn't guy my ticket, I was really considering this - it sucks for those with tickets!
now everyone can go see Darude
I'm not surprised at all about this being cancelled.
SUCKAGE! that is all
Jail FAIL
The irony is we all knew it would probably be cxl'ed. Just sucks that it's so f'in last minute.
No offence to the promoters but if there's even a slight chance that it would get cxl'ed be absolutely sure before setting up the event especially when we find out one day beforehand. In this case apparently it wasn't even the city.
BIG FAIL!
