i actually grew up with a few israli jews. like parents spoke nothing but hebrew at home and had israeli newspapers laying around, etc... they are definitely different than regular "american jews".
We have an old Torah that has been handed down from generation to generation with a bunch of jewels and stones on it. My honey and I received it last year as a blessing when we got our house. We have a lot of paintings and things that have been passed down as well.
