Really? Give me some examples. Trust me I would love to sell all my equipment and just use one piece of software with a few VSTs and get the same results. Please prove to me I can do this so I can maybe eat organic food for a while.

Btw I know Ableton works as a sequencer so when I say made 'with' Ableton I don't mean made 'in' Ableton.

Lol even if we gave you examples, you still wouldnt be able to. Why? because YOU don't believe that you can.

The new Union jack album was made almost entirely with VSTs:

I am with you, though. I own only one person of hardware, Moog Little Phatty, and I love the "hands on" aspect of it. I don't think I will ever give this thing up.

If I recall correctly he used Buzz for that. That's an even worse program hahaha.

armin's latest album was made almost entirely inbox with logic + plugs also, apparently.. love it or hate it, it's still a well-made album (benno de goeji knows what he's doing!!)

I have a TI, but i must say i think the only real difference is that hardware's easier... i think you can get the same quality out of vsts, it just takes more effort, while hardware usually sounds amazing 'out of the box' if you know what i mean..

Only Bloodlock was made in Buzz, in collab with James Holden. The rest was Logic plus hardware synths, I am pretty sure. In the Airdrawndagger remix samples you can hear the recording noise on some of them.

Posted by meriter on Sep-18-2009 08:06:

I don't think Airdrawndagger was made using technology of this Earth. And if it was.. it was Earth of ancient times, perhaps a multi-dimensional crystal interface recovered from High Atlantis.

Haha, I love that album as well. That glassy string sound at the beginning of "Wavy Gravy", so beautiful and I still have no clue how to get it after exploring FM and subtractive synths for years.

Honestly it's probably a preset on one of his synths.

Funnily enough it just happened again. Fuck this...

I bet it is something cooked up by Charlie May. That guy is the king of sound creation.

Right now I'm hoping it's only the OS partition that got corrupted. If it was the entire hard drive, then... well... I don't know. I really don't.

What I did say is that you have no right to make a comment like you did to MJBJ CLAIMING success off of one release. It was like you were using that release as validation for your point; which we all know is mute because a lot of shit gets released (not saying your productions were/are shit)

Evidence to support what claims in particular?

You're reading comprehension is still shit. Where is your evidence of arrogance on my part? If you are going to make a baseless claim, back it up, or crawl into back into your hole. If i were you, i'd avoid contact with society until i've learned how to comprehend what people say. Honestly, i'd fire you ASAP if you were shilling for me.

Why would I not claim success of a great EP release. Its well recieved so far with a lot of work put in, and signed to a great label(Rebirth) who have a talented roster, and some of the best music of the past year signed to it.

Theres a HUGE DIFFERENCE between not being able to install FL and quitting.

At one point I recall contemplating the idea of switching to Live, but at no point did I ever entertain the idea of quitting. I DO get mad with the quality of my music a lot, but I also believe that discontent serves a larger purpose, which is to evolve through the ropes quicker then the avg person.

I'm not trying to start shit theres just a big difference is what I'm saying.

i'm not trying to start anything either, i just distinctly remember it.. you started a thread, it was a long time ago though, about how frustrated you were because you can't get the sounds etc..

edit: had a little look just then, and i was talking about this thread WHINE i thought it was about giving up, but it was just about how you can't make good stuff.. my bad!

Tsk tsk, you're smart enough to keep backups... especially after experiencing a disaster before.

That sucks, though... hopefully you're able to save it!

No, not gordon brown, the prime minister as a concept.

OT, yes, I have thought about throwing the towell in but then I hear some old record (or sometimes a new one) that gets me craving again. I'm nearly completely in the box, so haven't spent 10's of 1000's on hardware, so a couple of grand on computers and software isn't the greatest burden of pressure to make something classic or financially supportive.

I have a job in the music industry but now also a new business completly outside of that which forces long breaks from producing (like now, 4 weeks and counting) - while annoying at times, it does make me want it more when I get back to it and keeps it all fresh. I think if I had plugged away solidly for last 10 years and not got anywhere, I think I'd be sick of it though.

I aksed Dubfire (deepdish) what would be his one golden tip for a producer and he said find a track or producer that you really like or want to be as good as, and A/B your stuff to it. He said that was the major thing that changed his productions way back and I have to say it's true. It's probably done more to help me try to reach my own goals than any other single tip.

It does help, but the A/B process is also one of the parts that frustrates me the most when I hear how far I still have to go.

Oh, I have majority of it saved on this laptop. It's just that I had everything modified just the way I wanted them to be and it's going to take ages to get it all together again. Dunno if it's worth the hassle.
