sheman... whatever your name is... do some research and youll discover why it's priced the way it is
Pretty sweet if you ask me. But I will never eeeever pay that much for a cdj.

Originally posted by Shemeck so basically cdj2000 its a cd player with midi controller with few buttons, jog wheel, one fader, ability to connect external hard drive and mid map buttons in programs, oh and a needle jump(small touchpad). all of that for 1699 NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...
they look pretty cool but I'm thinking the majority of DJs have went DVS and probably aren't too interested in changing their habits just for a new cdj. That being said they'll still be widely adopted as soon as they start cropping up on riders. I don't think these will sell much outside the nightclub market, time will tell I guess.
that ribbon controller is fucking cool as shit though, I wonder if it can do MIDI.
yeah boii, time for me to get 1000 MK3s.

I'd like to play around with a few... but I'm set on my MPB / Torq / Ableton setup... its perfect for me I don't want to change what already works great for me.
if people didn't want to change what already worked we'd all still be playing vinyl
saturday night i played 3 shows off one thumb drive, granted i was using other people's serato setups, but the idea of going out for gigs and not having to worry about scratched cds or expensive laptops appeals to me
just a thumb drive and my headphones
Can't wait to snag a pair!
The CDJ900 has piqued my interest and is a decent price. I'll wait to play around with them and decide if its worth the upgrade from my 800s.
INCOGNITO brought it in last Saturday Nov 14 and used the CDJ 2000 exclusively for the INCOGNITO Lounge @Vanguard, even if retail sales had been moved to December still. Hows that for cutting edge?
Btw, we do have an event this Friday Nov 20 @King King with CHYMERA, you never know what decks will be used
you officially have TA bragging rights for saying you guys got them first
howd u pull it off?

Great night is brisbane last night. My first night playing on the new cdj2000s. All went without a glitch. The guys at pioneer really have done a great job. The machine itself is fantastic and the rekordbox software is just very simple but clever. A lot of the things I like about ableton have been incorporated into the new set up. The software is perfect for organising your sets. They have really thought it thru. The quantised looping function makes extending your mixes a doddle. Fun to play on for sure. I think once my maven is back from being rebuilt I will use it as a giant mpc style sample bank and fx machine along side the cdjs.
Sasha has been reported to be using this new cd player since his Maven is getting fixed
Also Digweed tried traktor for about 2 weeks and went back to cds again
If Pioneer got those 2 on board id imagine that would be a massive help to their marketing campaign...
edit: xtr3m beat me to it
I'm sure the CDJ2000's software will suck, and if it doesn't then I'm sure navigating it with knobs and buttons will suck. They are trying to "minimize the need to bring a laptop computer" to performances when computers make using MP3s 1000x easier. I also still don't understand why they are trying to simulate vinyl when they are marketing an MP3 player that spins CDs. oh well, I'm sure plenty of people will throw away money on these.

I used a CDJ1000 for a while after switching from turntables. I loved not having to pay (as much) for music but I still found it inconvenient to burn CDs. the whole vinyl simulation thing never even made sense to me, and the looping feature is not very useful. in my opinion if you're going the way of MP3s then there are far more intuitive interfaces for mixing, such as the Torq X-ponent, which costs a fraction of one CDJ.
I'm thinking with regards to the CDJ900:
If you use Traktor and a CDJ900 you could change the stupid loop buttons to Hotcue buttons, then you will have 4 hotcue buttons instead of just 3 as with the CDJ2000 or 1000.
Those cdj800 loop buttons are fucked up. Atleast the CDJ900 can haz be a MIDI device.
does it read bluray discs? imagine putting in two 50GB discs with your entire music collection. endless nights of good music.
i might as well pick them up with the 10% off at agiprodj

Originally posted by Jarvmeister Why would you do that when you could store it all on a 1TB disk, and play the lot through both decks. One thing I hate about my CDJs is the amount of disk noise you get when a CD spins up. Makes having a quiet and subltle mix almost impossible. I'm drawn to the external source capability of these new units for that reason.
and no risk of cd scratching too with a flashdrive
but bluray is the future ??? what about that?
