LOL funny you say that because I did try to do it myself for about a year at Rio and I did manage to get JonO Bir. and believe you me it is not easy at all. I m sure others here would agree with me.

Toronto is very hard to impress and people arent exactly that open minded towards new talents out there since I m all about bringing new talents and not your typical Armin, PVD etc.

it def is very very hard to please!!!! Pure Trance has only been in business about 8 months and we have brought in Kyau and Ablert, Phynn and Ronski. It takes a ton of time to promote, network and find the right venue.. money is def not the driving force in doing this. All we want to do is bring the best Trance sounds to the area!!!!

Obviously you know nothing about throwing a party that involves an Top DJ and that will bring people out to it.

Believe me, I was right there with Hardcore Trancer at Rio, and it was a mission and a half just to bring Jon O'Bir.

Oz and I brought some pretty good acts to Vola as well! Airwave, Sied van Riel, Arnej... and where was everyone??? Everyone bitches about there not being enough trance in this city, and we did our damndest to try and fill a 350 capacity club with those headlines, and we didn't do it. Even with months of preparation and promotions, you'd think that people who really, and I mean REALLY, want some trance would come out to support the nights we tried to put together. I'd say that a majority of the people that came were TA's, and even half the TA's that are dieing for Trance didn't even show up. You can't expect promoters to bring trance dj's if they're aren't pulling the numbers, making any money, or even breaking even!

Everyone starts telling trance promoters to get off their ass and bring in some acts.... but I came to the realization that you need a solid core group of people that are 100% dedicated to bringing trance acts, and trance acts only! Well, GOOD LUCK! Seriously, I gave it a solid effort myself, but it's just not that fucking easy when you've got like 3 people trying to do it with you, even with a great venue like Vola backing you!

I'm always the first person say I will help in any which way I can. Fuck me, I even dj for free! Because I'm extremely passionate about the music, and I would do anything to see trance have it's day in Toronto once again. I have to give it to Oz though, he's the only real person out there who has the aspiration to try and bring trance dj's. And with as much experience as I have at throwing parties in the past, I'm just getting too damn old for this shit now. The onus does not solely rely on the promoters/venue.... if you want to see a particular trance dj in Toronto, it's YOUR job to come out and support trance music when it's here!

DJ Eco said on facebook that he's coming to Canada to do a few shows, one in Edmonton for sure and the other undisclosed.
I asked him if Toronto is a possibility but he said "Unfortunately no Toronto booking as of yet..."

Still, he didn't say no

:P

Thanks Veronica

DJ Eco.... good DJ/Producer, but guaranteed nobody would show up, unless he was an opener at Guv. Sorry.

Second that, kris.

Ur good ppl. (And f*cking L.O.V.E. your monthly promos! )

Posted by Ozmozis on Oct-09-2009 03:44:

I don't really have much to add to Kris's message lol

Kris has been very supportive and helpful. It was through him that I started doing all this and I really appreciate it! Barry also has been a huge help. He has never ever said "sorry can't help ya!"

Unfortunately, all of what Kris has said is true. We bring it, no one shows up (with exceptions and you know who you are :P) DJ Preach show is a good example. It's not easy to book DJ's and it sure hell is not easy to promote these events, a lot of money is involved.

I'm not going to praise the venue because that would be very unprofessional of me to do so.

Nonetheless, there will be Trance shows coming up soon in November & December but I can't release anymore information. All I can say is that I am working on a big show for our 1 year Anniversary.

Thanks again to those who show their continuous support!

Peace

im really looking forward to hearing more details about that 1 year anniversary party, im sure it will be off the hook with oz behind it

a BIG thank you once again!!

oz and kris, like everyone before me mentioned, many thanks for the trance parties you threw this year... they were some of the best parties of the year w/ the Airwave one being compeletely mental and unexpected.

and i can guarantee that if you bring the talent i will be there and i will drag as many of my friends as i can (it will be easier too coz so far anyone who has been to any of those nights have loved it!).

cant wait for the anniversary.

oh and if i could suggest a dj (not thats its my place :P) but please try to book richard durand... saw him this summer in netherlands and his set was just WOW!!! (i'd add stoneface and terminal to this list but there are others who would love to see them so i dont want to be repetitive)

and once again... thanks again for the trance nights!

To The guys saying no one shows up to your trance shows.
I'm a huge trance head and went to enough parties this year but never once heard anything about any of your parties. I would have 100% come to the airwave party if I had heard about it. Also I have no clue what Rio or Vola is, are these venues in Toronto? So I think your problem of people not showing up has to do with the fact that the general public is not hearing about these things. Where are you promoting these parties? Do you have a web site? I think I would represent the general public in saying we just aren't getting the msg

i don't know how much you paid attention to the boards last year or so, but Vola parties were pretty well advertised, at least on this board

well if you look at my registration date you have your answer. advertising on trance addicts isn't nearly enough to throw a party. I m sure these guys had other ways of advertisement. If not its obvious why these parties flopped. I asked my friends if they knew about this and no one other then maybe the one person I know on TA knew about it.I give these guys mad respect for trying, and believe me I hope they are successful. But if people aren't coming its not cause no one wants to, its because they just don't know. The market is there, just look at the guv every time a Dj rolls through town. Since I'm on TA now I'm sure I won't miss when the word is put out for the next even would love to party somewhere other then guv. TRANCE FOREVER!!!!

Thanks, and agreed! NYE 2009 with Airwave was one of the most memorable nights this year!
